.............................

Good for you, C.Ann! :D
My DH will brake, if he thinks somebody is throwing away "good stuff". I have had to put a cap on his "good stuff", though. The garage is only so big. ;)

Oh my!! That's like hitting the jackpot. I would have crammed it all into my van too -- somehow -- with all 5 kids strapped into their car seats watching me. It would have been a sight but I'd have managed. Good luck on your find. I think I just might make going by that house my regular route!

My son just came home with to Couch pillows..;) ;) ;) They are a treasure he says....can't live without them.....:D :D :D :D

He picked up a black chair another day on the way home....can't live without it mom.....at least he uses it....

I like the value of your story better....

quietly admiting to stealing two peices of wood trimwork from my neighbours garbage this morning..
:o

btw you scored!!!

You can usually get replacement stickers for Little Tykes toys directly from the factory. What a great find.

A buddy of mine at work was out for a walk one day and spotted an old air cleaner that was in someone's trash. Being a "car guy", he thought that he recognized it as an original equipment air cleaner for a Corvette. He carried it back to work and took it home that night. After cleaning it up and doing a little investigative work, he put the air cleaner up for sale on Ebay. And made over $200. :earseek:

So there's not a thing wrong with being a garbage picker. (Spoken like a true dumpster diver). :teeth:

You done good!!!

My name is Sandra, and I am a garbage picker. LOL! Okay, I only did it once. We had new neighbours move in right next door and they tossed out a gorgeous wooden horse. The same one dd was bugging me to buy. I took the horse and knocked on the neighbours door asking if she was tossing it. She said TAKE IT! She invited me in and gave me all her son's old toy he grew out off. Excellent stuff! We became great buddies! S

Wow, thats really good...

I'm gone curbside shopping all the time... Curbside shopper just sounds so much better doesn't it?

I've gone so far as to get the township calendar to get the trash schedules for the "fancy" towns so I can see what is getting thrown out.

Alright..... I'll confess too.....When I was pregnant with Dylan I garbage picked a pack & play from my friend's neighbor's trash. It was in excellent shape, I used it for years & my SIL is still using it for my niece:D

I am confessing too.. my name is Marsha and I picked the trash from my Church... OMG.. THE GUILT.. I have this huge brass floor lamp in my great room and I did pick this wonderful chair also, looks like it is from the 50's... which my daughter had reupholstered and it is in her living room.. looking like a million bucks..

Ah ha!!!! I knew I couldn't be the ONLY one! LOL

And just so you know, I took a swing by that house again today - "just in case".. :)

It's amazing what people will throw out!!!!!!! I think I feel the need to "take a ride"..................;)

C.Ann, If you just happen to drive by any furniture stores... They are a treasure trove of bubble wrap for wrapping your eBay stuff. ;)

I, too am a trash picker.

My neighbors were throwing out good Rubbermaid chairs they used on their deck.
They were getting new green ones, I asked, she gave.

Another neighbor was throwing out three lockers (like the ones used in schools). I made the mistake of telling my DH, he made me go with him to pick them up.

They are in our garage and each child has a locker for their stuff!

When I was a kid, my Dad, who was a building Supt...would come in the house will all SORTS if cast-offs from the build tenants :p

Dh drives around the neighborhoods during the annual trash pickup weeks

The funniest/oddest item we've ever come back with is a driver's-ed machine. The board of ed was tossing dozens of them several years back. It's in our shop's office and makes quite a conversation piece....lots of customers choose to sit in it over the regular chairs while waiting on their car repairs, LOL :)

Ooooooooo! I never thought of that!! Thanks for the tip!

You're very welcome. If you ask nicely and promise not to make a mess, they will usually give you permission to take what you want. :D

WOW, sounds like you picked up some great garbage. I never seem to see anything good on the side of the road ;)

The cabinet hanging in my bathroom came from curb side shopping

I'm in charge of props for our school musical so I've been stalking my town's trash for a couple of weeks now.

Last spring, I found a bench in my neighbors trash and decided to paint it and put flowers pots on it outside. Had a yard sale, used the bench to display stuff and ended up selling the bench for $15.

DH's uncle says in their town they have a day devoted to curbside shopping. Everyone puts their stuff on the curb and people drive around in pickups gathering new junk. The next day the leftovers are off to the dump. I think it's a neat idea. Wish they'd do it in my town. I'd love to go shopping. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
