35 night stay and flights?

so book it through a uk based website but while over there what a good idea !! im somebody who got told by a 5 year old that my phone even had a radio so may have to look into uP:rotfl:grading or at east learning how to use my existing phone !!

It would help :rotfl2:

The reason I mentioned the school thing is that I actually only live 10 miles from you so I thought I'd better warn you! :goodvibes

We've done a 'road trip' before, only 17 nights though. We booked flights with Virgin (well, actually they cost nothing as we had vouchers, but that's another story.)

We did Ft Lauderdale, the Keys, Gulf Coast and back to Miami. We booked the first couple of nights before leaving, and we also booked the hotel in Key West as we wanted a particular one. Other than that we either turned up, or checked out the hotel directory we found in most rooms and got the receptionist in one hotel to phone and book the next one for us. We got great rates this way. We used chains like Best Western, Ramada, Holiday Inn etc.

We planned the beginning and end to make sure we tied in right with the flights, but other than that we just went with the flow. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

We have done 33 nights, we always go in July/August, and like others say £1000 is waaayyy to much. i search for flights continually till i get a price i like, last July flights where £420 each most i paid was about £530 with the exception this year where i paid £700 approx for world traveller plus flights to Las Vegas.
I would say book the Disney hotel once you get the flights, as for the rest i would just show up ,if thats what you want to do, as long as its not a USA holiday time.
£10000 i would say is far to much, we have stayed 4 weeks onsite at Universal and prob cost for us would have been £8000 including everything, never counted so prob less.

the kids will be 6 , 5 and 4 years old and tbh the school isnt going to have much choice in it , i have been saving 2 year for this trip already its going to be a once only trip ( thats why i decided to extend it from 3 to 5 week )

i will be making sure we do more than just theme parks, and am sure the national parks and the space centre wil be very educational , my 5 year old is currently in charge of the budget chart each month he adds what we have saved that month then totals it on to our big saving chart we made

2016 trip will be a extended trip to china and thailand

i was really pleased with the virgin flight price i just found in march , the virgin holidays website when i have looked at packages was bringing up crazy prices £7,000++

I am sorry but I think you will have trouble with the local authorities if you take your children out of school of 5 weeks - that is a whole half term near enough and I think it would certainly put them in to the problem attendance category. And if you are planning to do it again in 2016 it will only give you no end of head aches and no holiday is worth that. Is there way you can tie it into one of the school holidays?

DD is just starting school and we will be pulling her out for a week however it is the final week before Christmas. It will be unauthorised as that is the schools policy.

I would think you can get flights for £550pp even in school holidays by flying indirect.

We're not here to offer opinion on the OPs decision re schooling, they asked for advice about the trip.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but Sept is hurricane season. Don't forget to take that into consideration. I live in the US so do not know all of your concerns. I personally thing April is a great time at Disney. Well the last two weeks at least. US spring breaks are usually over. The weather isn't too hot yet.

As far as hotels consider renting unused timeshares from companies other than DVC when not in Orlando. Some of these are fairly decent and you can sometimes get a week for 300 to 400 USD for the whole week. The ones we have stayed in were all nice, clean and had washer and dryer. I'm sure that would be fairly important on a 35 day vacation ...err I mean Holiday. Also, your more likely to have a nicer pool than at a hotel.

Just food for thought. Have a great trip. Hope you can find decently priced airfare.

i hadnt for one moment considered hurricanes!!!i have had some good prices for march /april so maybe will contine down that route

or bumping to late sept/october and trying to fit in a halloween party ( plus its my boyfriends birthday in october so it gives me a excuse to spend more

The other thing you need to worry about is if any of them are starting a school. If you don't turn up in the first two weeks, they are likely to give your place away if your school is oversubscribed. This is a particular issue if moving into year 1 as children from outside your nursery will be moving into the school.

We did a five week wdw combined witha road trip to New Orleans and Miami. We booked the Orlando hotels and the New Orleans hotel but left everything else open. What we did find was that getting hotels 'on spec' was far more expensive than if we had booked via websites or in advance. One night we paid $110 for a Days Inn !!!!! :scared1:

If you do have access to the web while you're there I'd suggest booking at least one day ahead. If you don't have the web, try taking some numbers for discount hotel companies.

Have you thought of Anna Maria Island? It's on the west coast. The beach huts there are quite reasonable and its an amazing laid back place.

The only thing I can add to this discussion is to check the terms of whatever travel insurance you end up with very carefully. Many policies have a limit of 30 days per trip cover, so if anything went wrong in the last five days of your holiday, you would not be covered. The bizarre thing is, if you go abroad for 29 days, then spend one day back in the UK, you can immediately go for another 29 without a problem!
