I have a package booked for just the weekend in June... ( 13th-15th) It was going to be DH, myself and our two sons.... My sister is going for a week and we were wanting to come see her and my nephew.. Now, DH is proposing that why don't I just take our 5 year old and fly ( we normally would drive) and he stay home with 2 year old- it would be an early bday present for our son- as his 6th bday is 3 weeks later.. I think DH just wants to save $ and I think he just doesn't want to go for just a weekend but he knows how bad I want to see my family.. Although- of course it helps that it's at Disney ..

I started looking at packages elsewhere and it looks like it may be cheaper to book a package through another site. Has anyone else done this before and could offer your opinion on not booking through Disney?

As much as I know how exciting a weekend in Disney with my oldest would be, I kind of feel bad leaving the other half behind. On that note, if I decided they would come too- would my 2 year old fly free or no- since he is not under two?

Once a child turns 2, he needs a plane ticket. I bought my 2 year old one for June. However, Disney is free until the child turns 3.

I know Disney is free- We have one more year! our 5 year old has been 3x and our youngest has been twice!

Getting a package through another site I would guess is dependent on how reputable that site is. For our last trek to Disney I ended up saving about $100 on our room reservation by booking it through a subsidiary of Orbitz called cheaptickets or something like that. I know now that it's a subsidiary of Orbitz because our magic bands almost got redirected from our home address to their corporate headquarters on account. But that was the only snafu we ran into, and fortunately we customized and changed to the correct mailing address before they shipped out. After that it all ran smoothly.

Other than that I think the only thing we lost out on are the little extras that always seem to come with the Disney package - tokens in the game room, a round of golf somewhere - things we generally don't use anyway. And although we opted for a rental car, I believe Magical Express was still included.

All I had to do to keep the online reservation accessible in Disney's website was to enter the confirmation number we received from Orbitz. Disney didn't try to best their deal when I canceled, and it all went smoothly at check-in.

You know- I didn't even think about the extras that Disney does include. We normally do the Disney Quest but since it's such a shorter trip- we might have to skip it this time. Thanks for that insight that I forgot all about!
