Monday 28th May

We got up and dressed and then put the last of our bits in a very handy large canvas bad we'd got in Ketichken wehen i'd bought a few bits rather than a normal plastic bag. We headed to breakfast in Animators and found both Anthony and Klaudia missing, Anthony because he wasn't well and Klaudia because she was on leave from today, I was sad not to be able to say goodbye to them. It seemed as if maybe some other servers were missing and it all seemed a bit unorganised. After saying goodbye to the head server and giving him all 3 tip envelopes it was time to leave the ship. We collected our suitcases, headed through customs and immigration and joined the queue for a taxi. We arrived at our hotel and were pleased to find our room was ready. It was a nice big room, with a huge bathroom, some funky furniture and unusual bathrobes. They also had a system that if you passed on housekeeping you got a $5 voucher to spend at the hotel shop or restaurant.

After we'd been in the room a few minutes we were called to check everything was ok, great service. It was now 1015 and time to head out into Seattle. We walked to Pike Market to see them throwing fish, all the stalls and beautiful flowers which were a fraction of the cost compared to the UK and we saw the first Starbucks. The market was huge so we only saw part of it. Its on many levels as well and downstairs there are shops.

We then got on the hop on hop off bus, I'd got the tickets on Groupon but I need not have bothered as they never once checked them! We did a complete loop and learned some intersting fasts about what we saw from the tour guide Spencer who claimed to have been in the film Sleepless in Seattle. At one point on the tour at a stop the driver gets off as he spots a PR Girl giving out free Monsters Drinks so gets a load and passes them out on the bus. After the loop we went one stop more and hopped off the bus to get some lunch at PF Changs. We sat at the bar to eat and the food was yummy. I popped over the road to Sephora to get a few things and then we walked back to the hotel past these trees to drop that off and then continued on to the Columbia Centre.

When we got there we found it closed due to it being Memorial Day. We walked over to Pioneer Square and got back on the hop on bus to find a customer doing the commentary, turns out he used to do that job. We taken the bus over to the Space Needle and have a look around. A folk festival was on so it was very busy, there were lots of stalls plus a stage with a band playing. We got 2 scoops of ice cream to share and walked down to the Olympic Sculpture Park.

We were now at the main docks and could see the Wonder in the distance and so stayed to watch her leave port. We walked along the front for a bit before heading back into the shopping district for some dinner.

I wanted to eat at the Cheesecake Factory as we'd never been before. We had a short wait for a table which seemed reasonable as it seemed busy, that is until we got into the restaurant proper and saw all the empty tables, things didn't get any better after that either. I ordered a tropical martini to continue my martini theme but as I now knew something about martini's I knew this wasn't a proper one as it had ice chips in it. When our meals came out they put Mike's jambalaya in front of him which looked great and was a big portion, then my burger was put in front of me, with no fries, the server explained that the fries weren't quite ready and he didn't want to make us wait any longer so brought the food out. Err what!?!? I waited a minute or so expecting them to arrive but no so I thought i'd better eat my burger but found it to be barely warm so I sent it back. By the time I got another one Mike had eaten his meal and I found my burger was missing the sauce. The table next to us also had issues and I think there was a mix up in the kitchen as he had also ordered a jambalaya and her dish came out on its own with no jambalaya. I don't think the servers or manager who came over really seemed that bothered about it, our server could see I was really unhappy but didn't in any way try to make it up to us, they took the burger off the bill but nothing else. We got some red velet cheesecake to go and headed back to our hotel room to eat it and watch a bit of TV. There was no towel animal or chocolate on my pillow though.

I must get myself to a Cheesecake Factory, problem is I might never leave!, I love the art in Seattle very modern.

the hotel looks fab :goodvibes

with restaurants, even though they have empty tables they still need to have enough servers to keep up with the customers.
shame your meal was sent out in stages.

Don't give up on the Cheesecake Factory, we love the one at Mall at Millennia. I bet you were sad to way fairwell to the Wonder.

Yes it was a very sad moment.

I was just surprised that on a public holiday they had so few staff as there were tons of empty tables but loads of people waiting.

Seattle looks like an interesting place to visit and the hotel looks great. I second the people who recommend that you don't give up on Cheesecake Factory just yet. We had a wonderful meal at the Cheesecake Factory in Anaheim.

I was pleased to read your TR last year to give me a sneek peak.

Can't say the cheesecake was that good actually.

I love your hotel. I like places that are a bit unusual. Shame about the Cheesecake Factory. The Orlando one is one of our favourite places to eat.

'Do not handle standees' - don't know how you didn't handle them, I would have found it very difficult not to wander off with Thor :teeth:

Sorry the Cheesecake factory wasn't upto scratch, the cake looked nice though. Hopefully next time you visit one it'll be better!

xx

I just about resisted.

How sad to have to get off the ship and even sadder when your meal was so disappointing. :worried:

I know that hotel! :thumbsup2 love that place. What a bummer about the Cheesecake factory. Their food can be decent but I've never had great service and the menu overwhelms me! Glad it was such a pretty day for you.

We had a similar experience with chaos at Animators at the exit breakfast. Food was meh and it took forever and was very chaotic. We did however see our servers and tablemates which made up for the rest. How lovely to be at the hotel, checked in and room ready by 10:15!
