Monday 28th May
We got up and dressed and then put the last of our bits in a very handy large canvas bad we'd got in Ketichken wehen i'd bought a few bits rather than a normal plastic bag. We headed to breakfast in Animators and found both Anthony and Klaudia missing, Anthony because he wasn't well and Klaudia because she was on leave from today, I was sad not to be able to say goodbye to them. It seemed as if maybe some other servers were missing and it all seemed a bit unorganised. After saying goodbye to the head server and giving him all 3 tip envelopes it was time to leave the ship. We collected our suitcases, headed through customs and immigration and joined the queue for a taxi. We arrived at our hotel and were pleased to find our room was ready. It was a nice big room, with a huge bathroom, some funky furniture and unusual bathrobes. They also had a system that if you passed on housekeeping you got a $5 voucher to spend at the hotel shop or restaurant.
After we'd been in the room a few minutes we were called to check everything was ok, great service. It was now 1015 and time to head out into Seattle. We walked to Pike Market to see them throwing fish, all the stalls and beautiful flowers which were a fraction of the cost compared to the UK and we saw the first Starbucks. The market was huge so we only saw part of it. Its on many levels as well and downstairs there are shops.
We then got on the hop on hop off bus, I'd got the tickets on Groupon but I need not have bothered as they never once checked them! We did a complete loop and learned some intersting fasts about what we saw from the tour guide Spencer who claimed to have been in the film Sleepless in Seattle. At one point on the tour at a stop the driver gets off as he spots a PR Girl giving out free Monsters Drinks so gets a load and passes them out on the bus. After the loop we went one stop more and hopped off the bus to get some lunch at PF Changs. We sat at the bar to eat and the food was yummy. I popped over the road to Sephora to get a few things and then we walked back to the hotel past these trees to drop that off and then continued on to the Columbia Centre.
When we got there we found it closed due to it being Memorial Day. We walked over to Pioneer Square and got back on the hop on bus to find a customer doing the commentary, turns out he used to do that job. We taken the bus over to the Space Needle and have a look around. A folk festival was on so it was very busy, there were lots of stalls plus a stage with a band playing. We got 2 scoops of ice cream to share and walked down to the Olympic Sculpture Park.
