30th birthday. Staying at the Contemporary. This isn't going to end well.

Hey, I'd join you... my birthday is April 30th... but i'm poor and broke, and well eating at fancy places isn't exactly in the budget. But you could kidnap me for the day and I can show you around the parks.

4/23 (Friday):
50's PT - Dinner (don't get too excited over the food, it's more about the servers.)

4/24 (Saturday):
Garden Grill - Dinner (my favorite character meal. and the food is always so yummy)

4/25 (Sunday):
Donald's Safari Breakfast (haven't been there since they moved it to Tusker House, but I've heard the food is even better than before, I think more variety)
The Plaza Restaurant - Dinner (this is a good little hide away, the sandwiches are amazing and huge)

4/26 (Monday/My birthday):
Kona Cafe - Breakfast
Yachtsman Steakhouse - Dinner (reserved for extra ppl, still have space open if anyone wants to come along) (I would highly suggest Artist Point at WL, and it'll put you a boat ride away from the contemp. And the beef is perfect, but I'm not sure if they serve prime rib)
California Grill - Dessert (if you go to the backside overlook, you can watch the Electrical Water pagent on bay lake after watching Wishes. Plus it's usually less crowded than the front one)

4/27 (Tuesday):
'Ohana - Dinner (I've had breakfast here a few times, but I've heard dinner is really good. With a nice huge window overlooking the MK)

4/28 (Wednesday):
Rainforest Cafe @ AK - Breakfast (i am not a fan of rainforest cafe or t-rex or yak and yuki, your time and money could be better spent elsewhere)
HDDR - Dinner (always great reviews, I've never had the money to go to it. but I've heard some of the food is similar to what they serve at Trails End, which I love)

4/29 (Thursday):
Chef Mickey's - Breakfast (can't go wrong with this)
WCC - Dinner (ummm... which one is this??)

4/30 (Friday):
Boma - Breakfast (never had it)
Sci-Fi - Lunch (I wouldn't waste time at this place... Pizza Planet is better than this.)
HOB - Dinner (what HOB??)

5/1 (Saturday):
1900 Park Fare - Breakfast
Tutto - Lunch
Le Cellier - Dinner (best place of all. I love it there, and I've eaten there like 4 times.)

5/2 (Sunday):
Liberty Tree Tavern - Dinner (only been there once, and it was really good. Too bad the characters aren't there)

Cat Kora's place, at the Boardwalk is really really yummy. And she sometimes shows up on the weekend. Artist Point at WL is really really good, and I know that resort inside and out. Beaches n Cream is a nice little place at Beach Club, good for a quick lunch or nice dessert. Grand Floridian Cafe is good for a nice afternoon lunch. I love eating my way around Disney, although I'm bad at going back to old favorites than trying something new. And some of the new places that I'd like to try, I don't have money for.

Ha, I finally figured it out... WCC: Whispering canyon cafe. I love that place, so much fun and the all you can platter is so yummy. You get the best of all worlds.

40ish days to go... got my "disney must-sees" email yesterday. Gave my mom my black 16 gb iphone today and upgraded to the white 32 gig for myself. (Actually did it as if it were an upgrade for her phone to get another iphone so soon after buying the 1st). She loves it and can't stop playing with it. I put all my disney apps on it for her, so she should be good for now, I just need to find some music to put on it for her. She hasn't flown in years and gets kinda nervous about it apparently.
On the one hand, I'm really looking forward to this trip. On the other hand, it's with my mom, and I'm turning 30 :(. I need a man... anyone wanna get me one for my birthday?

I am also gonna be celebrating my 30th Birthday @ WDW mine is April 27th!! Maybe we will run into each other lol!! Have Fun!!

42 days... 42 days... 42 days. Must keep repeating 42 days to keep from going crazy due to the stupid people staying at the hotel. 42 days... 42 days... 42 days... so... this school bus shows up this evening. 6 rooms, not booked through our sales department... high school group... nothing set-up for bus parking. We're in the middle of downtown. There is NO bus parking here or anywhere nearby. Dude procedes to scream at me, "We have 6 rooms, you need to find me bus parking RIGHT NOW!" 42 day... 42 days... 42 days. In the mean time, I have several people not with the group trying to check-in, and ppl asking if they can call a bus (metro transit... like... an actual city bus) to take them to where they want to go. No, metro transit doesn't take requests, they go where their set routes take them... what you want is called a cab. 42 days.

Called today and cancelled mom's reservation, then had them take my ex's name off my res and put mom's name on it. I also changed my ADRs around again, because I'm bad like that.

I would like to do something special for mom since it's going to be her first trip, but I'm not sure what to do. I was looking at the stuff on the disney florist website, but can't make up my mind. She's not really into flowers too much. I also don't want it to be known that it's from me because she'd get upset if she knew I did something like that (i.e. I'd like to say that it's just a little Disney magic and they just randomly pick people when they know it's their first visit to do something special for them.) So... thoughts, suggestions, etc.?

Called tonight and booked the Wishes dessert party for the night of my birthday. :) Canceled the dessert res for Cali grill and moved my dinner reservation around. 28 more days 'til we leave.

:eek::eek: So you're still going to California Grill.....right?

Probably not. It's not our type of food, I had really only booked it for dessert and to watch wishes on my birthday, but since we got the dessert party we don't need to go to Cali grill for that.

I will say we have been to Cali Grill twice, and it has yet to absolutely blow me away. It is fine. They have very good sushi. But last year when we went we were in and out in under an hour - it was definitely high speed dining. And ALL of the entrees were really, really salty. I am not a fan of super salty food. DS even commented about how salty the food was, and for him to comment it had to be significant. So Cali Grill is fine, it's not like we wouldn't go back, it just isn't "all that".

:scared1::eek::scared1::eek:

What is it with you people?? :sad2:

I was shocked and blown away by California Grill.

1. We didn't have a reservation, but we got to sit at the bar.
2. The bartender was insanely friendly and kept giving me 2-3oz. complimentary pours of wine and would ask if I could identify what type of wine it was and to see whether or not I liked it. (I was slurring words on the monorail all the way back to the Poly. I probably thought we were in an above-ground submarine.)
3. The pork tenderloin WAS ONE OF THE TOP 3 BEST MEALS I'VE EVER EATEN.......AND I'M NOT A HUGE PORK TENDERLOIN FAN!!!
4. My friend ordered a salad, but I wasn't sure if I wanted what he ordered or not, so I just didn't order one.....but they gave me one and didn't charge for it.

Seriously though......I can't recommend it enough. Despite the mixed reviews it's been getting lately and the decor which is just "okay", it's one of my faves. :thumbsup2

Flying Fish blows me away on a pretty regular basis. Citrico's blows me away at least half of the time. The service at Yachtsman Steakhouse is so amazing that they could serve me dog food and I would be OK with it.

Cali Grill? Eh.

We are lutheran. Salt and Pepper are the only "spices" my mom uses. LOL. She won't eat anything "exotic". I showed her menus for food places and her response was "Yes, they have cheeseburgers, we can eat there." I'm a bit more adventurous, but not much ;). We don't do seafood. So it's really hard to please my mom especially.

I love Jiko :lovestruc - but that is way exotic for some.

I'm a pretty picky eater myself and tend to go for the plain things. But when I do Disney I always make it a point to be adventurous and try new things. I figure the worse that can happen is I don't like it and end up getting some counter service later. Well, I guess the worse is I could end up on the throne all night! :rotfl2:

I usually will try something as long as I know there is nothing I can not eat in it. Mom won't even try stuff though.

Only 26 more potential days of work 'til I go. Woo. I'm getting so irritated with people lately. I swear ppl seem to be acting more and more entitled by the day. Ugh.

Woo. Yesterday was 3 weeks. I've stopped adjusting our ADRs, surprisingly. I worked up an itinerary for each day, that I'm sure will be thrown out the minute we get there. I was going to make mousekeeping envelopes, but I'm still trying to decide if it's worth the time (me and my problem with being a perfectionist, I sit and dink around with them for hours and hours and I never quite like exactly how they turn out.) I'm just really really really ready for it to be vacation time. :)
