On the advice of many, last year we took 301 to avoid 95 in DC area and it worked out well. We sailed through.
This year, it was a nightmare. Tons of construction and congestion. We arrived in Richmond Hill, GA an hour later than last year's time (we use our GPS to track actual driving time, so it was not a question of making more or longer stops).
We stuck with 95 for the return trip and made much better time.
