Wow! That certainly was a quick 30 years. It seems like just yesterday I was a kid hunting for the special quarters!

Well I didn't. Until just now. Thanks.

:) and $2 bills...

DH and I got married that year, but that doesn't make me feel old!

Happy 4th of July!

I graduated grammar school that year. I was already feeling old tonight thinking about my HS graduation, and that was 26 years ago, so yes, 30 years ago makes me even older. :rotfl:

oh yes, I graduated bicentinel year 1976, 30 long years ago. My class colores were green and white, but that year we went with red, white and blue.

too funny-i was in junior high-but the 9th graders were referred to as the "seniors" (went from 7-9th) and while our school colors were green and white-we adopted red, white and blue as well!

anyone interested in a "flashback" to that era, set up your tivo-vh1 is starting "i love the 70's" this saturday!

How many of us saw the parade of tall ships celebrating the Bicentennial in New York Harbor?

Wow I wasn't feeling old till you mentioned that. I was newly married and I was celebrating with my parents. I was decked out in red, white, blue. Now my husband and parents are gone. I will still be decked out in red, white, blue today and celebrating the nations birthday.

I remember it, especially the beefed up fireworks. DS13 has been hunting for "drummer boy" quarters for the past 6 months or so since I had one and told him what it was. They are not all that easy to find.

I grew up in a small town. I was 13. I remember that everyone dressed for the celebration. Most of the men grew beards that winter. My dress was navy blue and white gingham and I wore a bonnet. Everyone walked to church that Sunday or used horse and buggy. We had an enormous (eating on the lawn) after the church service. It was a great celebration.

I remember the special parade at Disneyworld just for the celebration. I have it on 8mm. It was so cool.

Yeah, I do feel, if not downright OLD, at least older. My son was 17 months old at that time. Now he's 31! I was pregnant with my daughter. We celebrated that day in Plymouth, MA with my parents and one of my friends (EX friend now :furious: ), her husband and her kids.

All and all it was a nice day. Parade in the afternoon and fireworks that night. The thing I remember the most about the Bicentennial was the fire hydrants that everyone painted. The Snoopy ones were my favorite! :teeth:

I didn't see them in NY, but they continued on to Newport, and I saw them there. I have the special program filed away somewhere.

I also was married that year; we're planning a special 30th anniversary at WDW later this year.

I was 4 years old, and my mom made my twin sister and I each a Betsy Ross outfit. We wore it when we walked in a parade. I don't remember it, but we still have pictures.

I was 8 & I was Betsy Ross for Halloween that year! I remember the town had a parade & all us neighborhood kids dressed our banana seat bikes with red white & blue streamers!

I graduated from HS that year. I *do* feel old. Especially after doing yardwork yesterday. Where's the Advil!!

I was 10 and remember trying to get as many quarters as I could to beat my sister. :teeth:

I was 15 - in love with a boy named Doug... oh my, the memories.... :grouphug:

I'd never go back, unless I could take my life lessons with me!

I was 10...and my baby brother was born that year.

Yes, I feel old...but not because of the 30 years since the bicentennial...I feel old 'cause I turned 40 the other day. :guilty:
