30 years since the Bicentennial! Anyone else feel old?

How many of us saw the parade of tall ships celebrating the Bicentennial in New York Harbor?

Me, Me, I did..... I remember that so well. I also remember getting to go on the big ships and look around. They also had all sort of demostrations on the Brooklyn water front. It was a great time. I remember painting lamp post and johnny pumps - red, white and blue for a contest.

for those of you who didn't grow up in brooklyn a johnny pump is a fire hydrent.

I remember! My mom was the most patriotic person you ever wanted to meet. She made our clothes, and that year, she made us matching outfits. Red white and blue, with the flag stars all over it. I remember loving it! I wore it all the time.

Our town had a HUGE parade, and my aunt's friend lived on the parade route, so we spent the day there. I am going to look for that picture. :teeth:

I was in Disney that day. I will never forget it. I was eight and the CR was 52 a night

I was 10 and on vacation with my parents and another family. The adults all sent the kids outside to give the U.S. 200 birthday spankings!

Yep, we sat on the ground and smacked it 200 times. I think it kept us out of the adult's hair for, oh, I don't know - maybe about FIVE MINUTES! :confused3

I was only five, but I do remember that my mom made me a beautiful Bicentennial Dress. It was white with red, white and blue Liberty Bells and American Flags printed all over. I LOVED that dress.
