Blue cardHi
I keep seeing this 30% discount going on and will be there this week. Is this discount only for direct blue card owners?
I am a resale buyer
I am here now and every store asked if I had any discounts. I said I was DVC but white card not blue and showed them. Everyone gave me the discounts even restaurants. I was honest and told them and no one ever said anything they smiled and applied the discount. so nice and really saved a lot of money
CM asking if they're DVC and the member stating they are white card
Or Disney wants to sell merch and likes making blue card members feel special as a sales technique and really doesn’t care. “This is something that only you get because you gave us 25k. You’re so special!!!!!!”Again you dont qualify for discounts.
The CMs either:
A) Don't know the difference and don't care
B) Don't want to argue with you
Disney if proactively stating resale owners should get discounts as well would actually be liable for false claims on their real estate sale. Do they maybe not care? Sure quite possible.
Again you are putting someone in an awkward position if they do know or you are taking advantage of someone who doesn't understand the requirements. That is on you though don't try to act like "eh its okay because Disney doesn't enforce it like a police state".
Want to push it that fine its on you. Same with people who pirate movies as an example.

Disney is really good at making cast members enforce their rules. If they are consistently not enforcing this one now my guess is because they don’t want to. I’m a blue card member but I don’t think any of you who aren’t and are honest and get the discount should lose a wink of sleep.
I fully agree.I actually think a lot of CM's just don't know the difference between the Blue Card and White Card members, and what it even means. Back before we had direct points, we were staying at Kidani and the CM at the resort store just automatically applied the DVC discount to us, since we were at a DVC resort and never even asked for a DVC membership card, much less a Blue one.
Again you dont qualify for discounts.

Cash reservations are much more likely to get upgraded than those of us who use points. Giving out cookies is Pixie Dust and a ridiculous comparison. Giving someone a room upgrade is not going to make them spend more money. Now, just because someone is staying at a DVC resort should they receive the discount-NO. But, I don't care if you are a blue or white card holder if the CM asks if you are a DVC member and you are-then you get the discount. So here’s the thing. We were walking thru the parks and while they look busy if you really look many many merchandise shops, kiosks and food carts are closed. In Epcot many of the countries shops are closed. Many hotels and as such their shops are closed. California has been closed for nearly a year and overseas parks are open then closed. Disney has a lot of merchandise they have to move. Never in the past was I asked by a cast member if I had a discount. They are probably trying to move merchandise and create more magic for people. I was talking with a family staying cash at the boardwalk and they were upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom and they aren’t DVC members should they be excluded from receiving an upgrade. I saw a cast member give 2 cookies to some children for no reason they weren’t entitled to that. I believe they are trying to move merchandise and give guests a better experience during these slow times to make people happier. Walking thru Magic kingdom there were very few shops and food kiosks open so they are losing money on all this. Give people a discount and they might spend more. Give them a room upgrade and they feel better and happier

I am a blue card member. I don't care if the white card members get the 30%. It makes zero difference to me. And, they can give out all the room upgrades, free cookies, balloons, or whatever. Disney is still a magical place and some people will get Pixie dusted now just like in the past. I received a free cupcake in MK because the shop was closing and they were walking around the seating area handing them out. (The Halloween Bride one with the ax). I was upgraded to CL once at AKL-cash reservation. I received free beignets at POFQ (Probably because the person making them was flirting with my daughter).
Call it Pixie Dust or luck of the draw. If you get the discount, good for you. Because I will use my DVC or AP discount on every item my adult kids purchase and they are not members/passholders. Why would I not? Do I think I am skirting the system? Nope. It is not like I am buying something deeply discounted and selling it on Ebay.
