We arrived Sunday morning Oct 8 at 9:30 am for one night at POP. DS and his fiance drove us down from Jacksonville after a 3 night visit with them.

We checked into POP - took only about 15 minutes. Since the room was not ready we all headed to MK. This was our first stay at POP and I found it visually overstimulating. It was super clean though!

We caught a very crowded bus to MK. We had to stand and I was surprised no one offered me a seat (I have a broken arm). It didn't hurt me to stand up but it was very awkward to try to balance myself with one good arm. Finally I looped my splinted arm around a pole and DH leaned against me to wedge me into place. Kind of disappointing as there were several young strapping fellows on board...

We arrived at MK to a huge crowd. A fellow behind me said he comes every Columbus Day weekend and this was the most crowded ever. Luckily the lines moved quickly and we were inside the park by 10:30 am.

To our delight, the park was not crowded at all! The mobs outside may have been a freak convergence of the ferryboat disembarking at the same time as several buses and the monorail? Not sure, but we managed to do everything we wanted (POC, 2 mountains, Buzz, Philharmagic, HM, TTA, Snow White, parade, shopping, and a NON-ADR lunch at LTT) by 4:00 pm. We headed back to POP to check in and say goodbye to DS and fiance.

We ended up with a king handicapped room in the 50's section - 3103 - ground floor which opened onto the pool. We loved the location! Very short walk to everything. We were not disappointed.

After a short rest, we headed over to EPCOT for Soarin, shopping, and Illuminations. Got a prime spot near China right at 9:00 pm. We intended to go back over to MK for EMH, but we were exhausted so went back to the resort for a snack at the food court and off to bed. I expected to hear a lot of noise, but we didn't hear anything until 6:30 am when our alarm went off.

We checked out of POP and checked our bags into the resort airline desk then were at MK at opening in order to get some french toast loaf and coffee at the Main Street Bakery. At 11:00 we took the monorail to Epcot to see if we could catch a soft opening of Nemo but the CM said no...liar, liar! I just learned today that they were letting people in at noon on Monday!

After another spin on Soarin, we hit the Food and Wine Festival. This was our first time and it was fabulous! I loved the maple custard at Canada. DH's favorite was the Argentine beef dish.

At 2:15 pm we caught the bus back to POP and then ME to the airport. All-in-all, it was a very enjoyable whirlwind trip. I was impressed with POP (while garish, it was not as bad as I thought it would be - I liked the lake) and was thankful for the seemingly low number of people in the parks. Transportation was never an issue other than my broken arm!

Can't wait until December!
