$30 gift for 13yo non-athletic, couch potato boy?

Thank you guys, for all your suggestions! I decided to go with the first two books of the Enders Game, and a gift certificate for us to go bowling. I'm a little afraid that he'll groan when he sees books, so I thought I'd soften the blow with bowling. He's already getting another subscription to to Microsoft Live, paid Microsoft Live points, and another game from his Dad. You all are the greatest!

I love him dearly, but the only thing my 13 yo *really* loves is XBox. His big gift is a gaming chair. He used to love Legos, and GI Joes. He's smart, likes putting together model cars ($30. is not enough for one) but basically, Xbox is it. He is not athletic, lol. Are there any "hot" toys that he might like? I'm looking for something *not* related to XBox.

Binoculars and a bird guide or Field guide.
