So the Holiday season has definitely left me with a LOT of weight to lose...alright I'll be honest even BEFORE the holiday season I needed to lose some weight:eek: Has anyone noticed the swimsuits out already!?!?:scared1:

Here's what I'll be doing...I'm starting to keep track of my points with WW and I'm going to pick up The 30 Day Shred today. I've heard so many good reviews so I'm gonna take the plunge!

Just wondering if there's anyone else in my shoes right now that wanted to jump on the bandwagon with me to give each other support:thumbsup2 Everything's always easier with a few good friends, right? :grouphug:

**If I've forgotten anyone or if you're new and would like to join just post and I will get you up on our list**

i'll jump in, I'm going to start WW again on Monday and try to excercise at home (want to try the 30 day shred, think it's on sale at target this week. Plus i have the biggest loser workout for the wii). I'd like to join a gym but it's expensive! My ultimate goal is 85 lbs by this time next year, doable I think. What has really put me over the edge is I bought an ergo for our trip in a week and it dosen't fit around my waist, I had to order an extender :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Be prepared, this is a tough workout. This is coming from someone who runs 12+ miles and week and spins. Level 2 just about does me in, and it is only 25 min! I think this is the level where she says, "You should feel like you are going to die." Totally true. I don't know what it is about Jillian, but she makes you work. Good luck and have fun!

I failed last time I tried. I only made it a week. Granted it was during my busiest time of the year, but still. I can give it another shot. I have to mute it though. Jillian Michaels makes me wanna punch her in the face. Her voice just grates on every single one of my nerves.

It is a tough workout... good luck! I found that its much more beneficial for toning up then losing weight but if you combine it with some extra cardio each day then you can really see results on the scale.

Hi all!!!!:) Glad to see you here!!!

Thanks for the advice everyone! And makes you want to punch her in the face?!?! Yikes! I'll be picking it up tomorrow and I am a little scared. I've been known to yell back at the TV and I'll admit, I've never been a big fan of Jillian but I figure if she can work some of the fat off my ....well you know...then it's worth spending 20 minutes a day with her :lmao:

Good luck everyone tomorrow!! One day at a time! I'll be checking in tomorrow to let you know how it goes:scared1:

So this is a DVD at Target or a Wii game? And how much is it? I need to drop 10-12 lbs. by our April trip or I will hate our pictures and be too tired to do the 'Disney walk'.

This is the DVD, I have the Wii game but haven't opened it yet....I need to tone up, I just added this to my wish list on Amazon. :)

I am currently on day 16 of the 30 day challenge. I am noticing some toning and have lost a couple inches.

I just bought this on Amazon yesterday for $8.99. Should be here on Saturday. Stating this and my "Disney Diet" for our March trip, would really like to drop 20 pounds by then.

On a scale of 1-10 how hard would you say the workout is? And are you using the DVD or the Wii game? Last question- are there different workouts or is it the same workout each day?

TIA!!

I'll join! I bought this before the holidays & have done in 2x in the last week. It is tough but not long so I feel like it's doable. None of the exercises last a really long time and I like switching frequently. I also have a treadmill so I will be supplementing w/some extra cardio. I also have her wii game but haven't tried it much yet.

Maybe you will inspire me to track WW points again too. I did it last year successfully but stopped before I reached goal. Some people in my office that reached goal look great so I know it really does work.

I'm so glad to see everyone joining in:thumbsup2 It's official...I took the plunge tonight and bought the DVD at Target (on sale for $8:yay:) I feel safe for now...it's still wrapped tightly in the cellophane but tomorrow morning it's coming out:rotfl: January 1st is day 1 for me! I have a little notebook I'll be using as a journal for my WW points and I went to the grocery store today and bought a ton of my point friendly staples from when I was on WW before. DH and I are spending NYE at home playing some board games and I won't be drinking so I have NO excuse not to start tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a GREAT New Years Eve and here's to a new year and hopefully new *smaller* bodies:woohoo:

I'm restarting it again tomorrow as well! I just bought the boot camp dvd so I'm going to alternate boot camp with 30 day shred for 30 days. Hopefully this time I stick with it!

Wow! I don't know about this "30 Day Shred" thing....sounds a little:scared1::scared1:...but, I too must lose some weight:wizard:!

Last year (Dec 27, to be exact) I weighed in at 188 lbs. That is only 12 pounds less than I was at 9 months pregnant....4 years ago! So, I started on the elliptical machine and a diet with a goal of 170 lbs by June 1, our Disney trip.

By Easter, I was down to 168! I never got any lower than that, and I was not able to keep myself motivated. Alas, the pounds came back. After my birthday trip this past October, I found myself at the 185 pound mark. (Darn that Food and Wine Festival:headache:). I started just the diet again and was able to lose 15 pounds...for a while.

Again, I weighed in on December 27 this year....177 pounds. So, I decided to try again. I was motivated by the fact that I started at the same time last year and dropped 20 pounds by Easter. If I can do that again, I will be under 160 pounds for the first time in 15 years AND it will be just in time for our next Disney vacation.

I have a very physically demanding job as a paramedic. I work a 14-hour shift and lift a lot of weight, climb a lot of stairs and do a lot of squats while at work. This is a bonus because I get a "work out" while I am working, but it has a drawback. Because the work is so physical, I can't be too sore to function after a home workout. I tend to get quite sore about 2 days after a workout, or a particularly "heavy" day at work. (Carrying a 300-lb person on a 130-pound stretcher up 6 steps is quite a workout on the thighs and calves, not to mention the back!) So, I have to try an easier workout at home.

I finally fixed my Wii and bought the Wii Fit Plus disc. I've had the balance board, but my kids used the Wii Fit disc as a coaster for their nail polish so it is no longer in service. I started the Wii Fit Plus last week and so far I love it. I find that I can work up a sweat, work on my flexibility and still not be crippled the next day. The kids enjoy watching me play some of the games and we do a lot of them together too. I honestly think that the Wii is the best game ever invented!

As far as the diet goes...I am really going to try and stick with it. As I mentioned, I work 14-hour shifts on the road which means a lot of fast food, or bringing non-perishable items with me to work. I try very hard to bring a nutiritious batch of food with me to work (salad, carrots, soup, granola bars, and protein bars) but I always give in to the temptation when my partner goes through a McDonald's drive-thru and orders french fries:mad::mad::mad:. I think I will invest in a nose plug:lmao:.

Sorry this ran a little long....I am not blessed with the ability to "keep it short". I hope all of us can stick to our resolutions and see results soon:wizard:. It's great to have a support system, especially when the DH likes to bring home Snickers and Oreos!

This is where I'm at! I've been up and down since having my daughter. I lost all of my baby weight and was just about to start working on my 15 lbs I gained when I got married when I started again in nursing school. Hello stress. Hello weight gain. So I gained almost 30 lbs back. It's disgusting to even type that. I figure when I started getting serious about losing weight it was in January for an April disney trip and I was able to lose about 35 lbs. So here's to doing it again:thumbsup2

Ahhhh kids:rotfl: gotta love em!

I completely understand where you're coming from. Sometimes I feel if DH and I could just seperate for a few months I'd be okay :rotfl: He is SUCH a bad influence on me food-wise. I would suggest to you getting a Calorie King book. That way when you're going through the drivethru you know what the best things are to order. I'm not sure which diet plan you're using but there are plenty of WW friendly options at all of the FF restaurants. Even Taco Bell has added a "fresco" menu which is pretty healthy!

It seems like we have quite a few people starting today! I figured we could have a check-in day once a week to report any weight loss so we can keep track of it. Nobody has to throw out their "number":scared1: just how much they've lost.

Good luck today everybody:thumbsup2 and Happy New Year!!

Actually, it is my own "diet" plan. I loosely count calories. For example, breakfast usually consists of 2 egg whites (approx. 40) and one turlkey sausage link (approx 30), cut up and scrambled together. Then I nuke it in a small, round container for about 1 minute to cook and place it on a 100-calorie whole grain English muffin with a 1/2 slice of 2% cheese (about 25 calories). The whole concoction is under 200 calories, so I add a container of Light'n'Fit yogurt (80 calories). It's a yummy, quick and satisfying breakfast for under 300 calories.

For the most part, I try not to eat more than 300 calories for breakfast, 300 calories for lunch (an entire can of soup and a large salad with 1/4 cup canned chicken and some FF Italian dressing is my favorite) and then I can splurge and do 500-600 at dinner. For snacks, I like to munch on carrots, dill pickles, and those wonderful 100-calorie snacks, which makes the counting easier.

I've learned that I can eat whatever I want, but I might go hungry if I make bad choices. If I want a 200-calorie candy bar, than that is my only snack for the day. Otherwise, I can have a 60-calorie pudding, a 100-calorie yogurt and a pack of apples from McD's. I will admit, some days I opt for the candy bar!

Speaking of fast food restaurants, I have researched and there are some staples that I rely on. The apples at McD's are great, and I do not like the caramel anyways. I can also eat a kid's chicken nugget meal with apples and a diet coke for only 225 calories. The grilled southwest chicken salad is also a delicious as a dinner at only 420 calories with the dressing.

Great idea! Count me in! I'm off to Wii now!
