i'm pretty sure were going to universal with the kids because of Barney. is IOA worth it with 2 small children??? should i buy the 1 day/2park hopper pass? any feedback would be great. going to orlando aug 18th-aug 29th.

IOA is heavy on the "older kid" rides and short on small kid attractions. They would love Cat in the Hat and the whole Suess area.

Jurassic Park has a fun playground and the Island Skipper Tour boat rides.

At Marvel Super Hero Island the super heroes come out a few times per day on ATV's and pose for pictures. My 5 y/o ds loved this.

The Lost Continent has cute Unicorn mini coaster - but I think you have to be at least 3 years old to ride. The Mystic fountain is fun for an interactive experience.

Toon Lagoon has the Me Ship Olive and lots of visual stimulation.

I would go if you and your spouse really want to see it but I woulnd't make a special trip for young kids. My dd was 8 and she loved it - ds 5 liked seeing the super heros and ds-2 well..... he like US much better.

I would say that IOA and Universal both have enough for the kids to do. One stay with the kids and other ride the coasters. Universals Kiddie area is concentrated in one part of the park with Jimmy Neutron close to the entrance. IOA is spread out in almost each Island. Marvel - Storm Force. Toon Lagoon, Fountains to Jump in, Me Ship the Olive. Jurassic Park - Discovery Center, Camp Jurassic. Lost Continent - Flying Unicorn. Suess Landing - Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish (Dumbo), Carozuessel, two play areas, and Street Shows.

thanks for the input. i'm leaning on just universal because my kids love Barney!!! i don't know if its worth doing 2 parks/1day thing. IOA doesn't seem to have that one attraction preschoolers love (aka Barney)

My kids loved that freakin Barney show. The youngest is 4 now and I may have to see it one more time. The 6 year old refuses to go. Go to IOA if you have a dinosaur lover or if they are 40" and like Spiderman. The Cat in the Hat area is cut, but there are only 3 rides. If your 1 year old is 36" they can ride the Unicorn, but it is a lot like the Woody one at US. You can probably amuse yourselves for one day by just doing US, but you might want to split the day up between the two. Don't miss the Animal Planet show, my kids loved that.

My kids are 4 and 8 and we have been going to universal every year. I can't get my kids out of Suess landing. They love the cat in the hat ride, seuss carrousel and 1 fish, 2 fish, red fish, blue fish. My kids also love the flying pteryadons. We were able to child swap and enjoy the whole park. We usually need more than one day US at but only one for IOA. I hope this helps.
