Hi,

Long story short...DD and her long time BF/now fiance are getting married June 10 here at our home church and then moving to Pensacola, Fl the next weeki. They'll be living on the Naval Air Station there.

Original plan was a wedding date of Aug `09. Bridesmaiads dresses on order will not be here by the new wedding date. Luckily, DD bough her wedding gown over spring break.

Where can we get 3 dresses on short notice?

Oops meant to type Aug 19 was original wedding date, so dresses would have been here in July.

Why not go to a department store and see if you can buy 3 nice summer dresses to use for the bridesmaids? Or maybe check a David's Bridal to see if they have 3 dresses in stock?

If the bridesmaids are fairly young smallish girls, you could go to any area store that sells prom type dresses.

Something like this could also work if it's a daytime wedding:
Lands End Linen Dress

Good Luck!

That's a good idea. I would suggest the same thing.

Congrats to your DD :goodvibes

I've been to a number of weddings in recent years where the bride has given each bridesmaid a swatch of the color dress and the girls have gone out and found one they feel they might use again. It looks fine too.

Ok, thanks fo rthe tips. I do like that Land's End dress!

Ann, I wish the Laura Ashley store was still at the Galleria!
Maybe 3 different dresses would work. The girls are really different in body type.

I personally prefer dresses bought in a regular store rather than ordered from a bridal shop. usually the quality is nicer and they rarely need alterations. Check out Ann Taylor and J.Crew. J.Crew has some really lovely dressy dresses in right now that I was thinking would make gorgeous bridesmaid dresses.

good luck!

Wasn't it just prom season?
Any dresses at the local Junior's shop? That's what we used for my wedding.

Is there a Deb store near you? I got a formal dress there for a charity gala that I won tickets to for $12.99. Since prom season just ended, I would think that you could find some very nice dresses very cheap.

Maybe pick a color, then each girl could choose her own dress based on that color.

Jessica McClintock. There are two boutiques in the Minneapolis area. Gorgeous dresses, really special, decent prices.

Wow they have some beautiful dresses on this site!

I also know some bridal stores rent out Bridesmaid dresses.

Have fun with your wedding planning! Quick planning may change the exact things you do, but it will still be a wonderful occasion!

That JM website has some stunning dresses. Maybe make a tirp to dt Mpls.

Thanks everone.

My bridesmaids each had on different style dresses in the same color and I was at a wedding recently where each bridesmaid had on the same dress in different colors. I thought it looked great. Good luck with the wedding planning

My neice was just married a couple of weeks ago. Her bridesmaids all wore black dresses. Each one was different. THey all looked fabulous. Some were short, some were long. It was a budget wedding. Her Matron of Honor paid 15 bucks for her gown on a sale rack!!

GOod luck. When I got married (YEARS ago) I found three dresses on a sale rack for 9 bucks each.. Just happened to be in the right sizes.

My bridesmaids got their dresses straight off the rack at Sears right around this time of year. It was post prom clearance and we paid an incredible $10 each for dresses originally marked $89!! Definitely check the prom racks at a dept store.

so many of got some great bargins!

I'll check all the dept stores for sure. since we've already spent big bucks on dresses we can't use, some inexpensive dresses would be great!

I would also have your DD seriously consider chooosing a color and then letting them pick a dress.

If all the girls are different shapes and sizes, they can chooose the style that is most flattering on them. They could also probably find something that is not so "bridesmaid-ey".

Good advice, Disney Doll.

One gal is very short and two are tall.

I bet you'll be able to sell those dresses on Ebay! You might even get as much or even more than you paid! :thumbsup2
