Have managed to get three weeks off work next September so we are going to Disneyland and Los Angeles. Have been to DLR twice before and have that part of the trip sussed - Candy Cane Inn for the last 9 nights. We are staying in Hollywood for the first 10 (need a couple of days or so to recover when we come home before work again) - already picked out the hotel - Lowes Hollywood (formerly the Renaissance).

Have you been to the following attractions - Warner Bros,Paramount Studios, Tussauds, Celebrity Homes tour,Kodak Theater tour, La Brea Tar Pits , hop on hop off buses, Universal via the Metro (subway - the Red line) - we have been to USH before but not made our own way there, Knotts Berry Farm (from DLR via bus). Have to been to the tourististy places without a car?

US on the Metro is easy. :) We always just caught the train from Hollywood/Highland station (if I'm thinking of the right hotel then that's directly underneath where you're staying) then when you get off at Universal City you just cross the street and wait at the stop and a trolley thing (like you get on for backstage tours) comes down the hill and takes you up to CityWalk for free. :)

The public buses work well in LA. I spent a few months living in Westwood and they'd get me to Santa Monica and Hollywood easy peasy. I think if you wanted to get to Santa Monica from Hollywood though it might be a bit of a long journey on public transport.

On a different holiday we did the WB tour which was great. It's a proper working studio so much more exciting than the studio tour at USH in my opinion. :)

The farmers market is great too. :)

Have an amazing trip!!! I'm desperate to go to DLR!

Sounds great - we'll be there is less than 2 weeks .

We have done Knotts by bus from DL and also San Diego Sea world. This time we are doing San Diego zoo

Have a great time - wish we were there that soon to experience all the Christmas stuff - one day;);)

Not planning to go down to San Diego as I think when we have done Hollywood and LA we will have enough of touring (apart from Knotts) and just be happty to visit Disney on a 5 days pass and do teh Halloween party on another night.

Torsie - yes that sounds like the same hotel - the Metro is just below the hotel.

If you get a hop on and hop off bus ticket, you can get a second day for buttons on top of that and we were thinking of doing the yellow Santa Monica route on the second day - you can switch from the red route onto the yellow but it does seem like a long way but thinking it might be fun.
