Well we are leaving in 21 days :banana::banana:!!!

We had intended a trip with DFriends so we got a 2BDR at BCV. They have recently separated :sad2: and of course had to cancel.

I have redone our ADRs as of course my first thought was of people who were waiting for times. Then I thought we didn't need the 2BDR there are 4 of us and could put girls is 2nd bedroom. But again thinking of those on a WL...holding will not work for us as our UY is Feb and our next trip is Apr. I think there is nothing else I can do but wanted to check with the people in the know!!;)

Since you are inside of 30 days before check-in there really is nothing you can do without some points going into holding status. This couples timing of the break-up is unfortunte for your points, but if I had friends in that situation, I'd understand and wish them well. And I have a pretty strict policy about parties that cancel a planned trip...they aren't invitied back, unless it is an emergency. This would, for my friends, qualify as an emergency. Good luckk to all involved, and try to enjoy your trip without thinking of the extra 2 bedroom points...look at it as an unexpected luxury. :) :grouphug:

You'd have to cancel the two bedroom and reserve a one bedroom. Odds of getting that this late is not good, especially for Thanksgiving weekend.

And then there is the holding issue that you can't get around.

There are still four of you going, so enjoy the 2BR/2BA villa.

When we traveled with our two kids, my wife and I always booked a 2BR/2BA. It's great having 2 bathrooms (saves a lot of time). It's great having separate bedrooms for the adults and kids, with the living room as a neutral zone. Everyone can go to bed and get up when he or she wants. It's great having the living room as a real living room, not as a room with kids sleeping of the sofa bed.

The only risk is that you'll be spoiled and want 2BR/2BA villas in the future too.

It sounds like your kids are going to have their own bedroom. Hopefully they won't get too spoiled. ;) As Chuck S. said your DF's situation was truly an emergency cancellation. Perhaps it's best that it happened before your trip versus after or worse during. That way you are still friends with both.

Believe me these DFs are like family so this is not a "I can't believe they cancelled" thing. We are perfectly happy in the 2brm for the four of us - I guess my distress was because we had to WL for BCV and I know how many others are trying to get their WL.

That's very considerate of you. Have a great trip!

It is very considerate of you to think of others, it is sad because there is probably a family in a 1 br looking for a 2br but DVC's reservation system is not intellegent enough to handle making 2 families happier.

The plan really works fine. Just not for the person cancelling the reservation. Once they cancel, then someone gets that reservation and gets to cancel the one they have.

We're in the same boat as the OP. We are now in a 2 bdr at Bay Lake beginning 11/14. My mom and stepfather were supposed to go with us, but my mom got really sick and was in the hospital for 16 days. She just doesn't feel she has the strength to go. So we have two daughters, 5 and 11, that will have their own "studio". We also have a college-aged son that's not going due to class schedule. I called and there's no 1 bdr available. But we're kind of excited at this point. What a move for us as we are used to staying at a value resort!!!

But that's why we bought DVC because I just always couldn't justify paying for anything above value.
