We had to cancel our trip this year and suddenly will be left with many points to use next summer. We haven't been on a week long park trip since May 2013. We are a family of 5 (kids will be 12,10 and 3 1/2) and plan to do a split stay in a studio, then a 2BR, and then a studio in mid to late August since our kiddos start school in September.

Keeping that in mind our studio stays will need to sleep 5 so we are limited there.

We've stayed at all the resorts except the Poly so I know what I'm thinking but wanted to see who else had ideas I might not have had.

Home resort is SSR.

I would just stay in a 1 BR at AK or BLT for the 2nd bathroom or OKW if you could do with 1 BR for how ever many days your points will cover. Plus in room laundry, full kitchen and space to relax. Why move to 3 resorts, squeeze in a studio, get spoiled by a 2 BR's space then back to a studio????

We actually don't mind doing a split stay as we've done it before. Plus since we are driving down for this trip it just a matter of loading 5 suitcases in the car and driving over. The idea of the two bedroom is to possibly accommodate the Grandparents for a few days plus to do laundry in our room halfway through.

Sounds like a great trip, and a perfect time for APs. Just remember even the 10 pass expires 14 days after 1st use.

I also wouldn't end with a studio but if you're going to do it then I would end with the Poly. The studios are large and have 1 1/2 baths and the resort is amazing. So convenient to the monorail too.

Since the Poly is so point intensive I would be planning to stretch my points as far as possible and would book whatever resort(s) work out to be the most cost effective that sleeps 5.

I would book a few days at AKV, some at an Epcot/DHS resort and the rest at an MK resort. Adjust the number of nights at the resort based on how many days you will be each park, no park hopping.

Considering the time of year you're going, mid to late August will be HOT, so I'd recommend a resort where you can stay in the air conditioning and still see lots. For that I'd say AKV is perfect. I don't know if they sleep 5. I'm pretty sure BWV sleeps 5, but since you have to go outside to get food (except continental breakfast, I think, is served in Bellevue Lounge), I wouldn't recommend it.

This does not sound like a vacation to me. If you can, go for a 1BR at OKW; I cannot imagine 3 sibs in a studio for any length of time. If you can, more power to you but I shudder at the thought.

I agree. The one bedroom at OKW is only a few points more than the studio at the Polynesian. Full sized kitchen with full sized washer and dryer beats a Polynesian studio any day. And a king sized bed for Mom Dad in a separate room. A week in an OKW one bedroom the second half of Aug is 199 points. The Polynesian studio for the same time for a week is 183 for lake view and 153 for standard view.
