3 WDW Trips in 6 months: August, October and December Reports *Completed*

That is one beautiful blue sky for sure!

Love the photo tour of Fantasyland.

So glad you were able to meet the White Rabbit. He looks awful cute! I am a sucker for anything that is a bunny/rabbit.

Hey LL. Glad you liked the tour. It was fun getting to just spend some time exploring Fantasyland like that.

It looks like you'll be heading to Disney in October next year. Hoping that you'll get some of those same blue skies.

Well, it was a tough choice, but we’ve decided which two parks we’ll be going to in December. They will be Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. I’m pretty disappointed we won’t be going to Magic Kingdom and will miss Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee, but as a whole EPCOT was the park we wanted to go to the most and I’m actually looking forward to seeing it at Christmastime again. Hopefully The Princess and the Frog will prove to be popular and the characters will stay out at least until we make it back to Magic Kingdom again. Since Tiana is part of the Disney Princess line now, I figure Disney will probably be keeping her around for a while (just look at Pocahontas and Mulan- their films aren’t the most popular Disney has, but they’re still out regularly).

Anyway, now we’ve decided what parks we’ll be going to, we’ve also been able to start deciding where we want to eat. At the moment, we are planning to have three ADRs for the trip:

  • The Wave at the Contemporary Resort (dinner)- We’ll be eating here on the night after we arrive. This will be the first time trying The Wave, but it looks and sounds really interesting. Out of all our meals, I think I’m looking forward to this one the most. Plus, it will give us an excuse to head over to the Contemporary to check out their Christmas decorations for the first time in a while.

  • 50s Prime Time Cafe at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (lunch)- Admittedly, this isn’t my favorite restaurant at Disney. I’m not a big fan of the shtick or the menu for the most part. I was pushing for lunch at the Sci-Fi, but Dad wasn’t too thrilled with the Sci-Fi’s menu and this one had more options. It looks like there are a few things on the menu that sound good this time around, so hopefully it will be alright.

  • Biergarten at EPCOT (lunch)- This restaurant is usually a lot of fun at Christmastime. In the past, they’ve decorated it for the season and added in a few Christmas songs to the Oktoberfest show, so hopefully they still do. As I remember from past meals here, the buffet has been pretty good, and I love the atmosphere here. Looking forward to revisiting it.

We’ll be doing the rest of the meals of this trip at counter service restaurants. We’ll likely have lunch the day we arrive and all of our breakfasts at the Sassagoula Floatworks food court at French Quarter (we’ll be having beignets at least once, I’m sure), dinner at one of the counter service restaurants in World Showcase on our EPCOT day, and, depending on how long we want to stay in the park that night, a counter service dinner either at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Sassagoula Floatworks.

It looks to be shaping into an interesting trip so far, but I think we’ve still got a lot of work in front of us.

What a bummer that you are going to miss the Riverboat Jubilee. I think Epcot at Christmas will be a lot of fun though.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about The Wave. It sounds really yummy.

Yeah, I'm still a little disappointed, but I know Christmas at EPCOT is great too.

Hi Meeko! Just discovered your Tr and I'm really enjoying it! I love the "private" time with the Tremaines! They are always so fun!

Wow both fall and Christmas trips! How wonderful!

I too would love to see Tiana's Showboat Jubilee but at least you can meet her at DHS!:goodvibes I know she is replacing the Up characters soon.

I've read your "Day 1" now I need to go back and catch up with the rest!

Hey Dawn. So nice to see you here. :wave2: Glad that you're enjoying the TR so far and hope you enjoy the rest too.

Where did you head about Tiana coming to DHS? Last I heard, she was only appearing in Liberty Square at MK ( :( ) and that the Up characters will be at DHS until at least January. There's already been reports of already meeting her and Prince Naveen behind the Christmas Shop. I actually haven't met the Up characters yet either so whether it's them or the Princess and the Frog crew at the Studios, I'll be happy to see a few new faces there.

When we were at DHS in Sept. a CM told us that Tiana would be replacing them when her movie came out. Maybe that's changed now :confused3 but the characters in the Animation Building seem to change as new movies are released.

That would be great if it happened. I'll have to keep an eye out to see if there's any more info on it. Thanks for the tip. :)

With most of our morning priorities from the Fantasyland/ Toontown/ Tomorrowland area done, it was time to turn our attention to the other side of the park. I figured that we would do Splash Mountain next, but Buzz pointed out that the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party was about to arrive in the Hub so we stopped to watch it. This was another new thing for us, and he had been hoping to find a chance to watch at least some of it while we were here celebrating our birthday.

misici1-600.jpg

Baloo and King Louie’s float rounds the Hub.

misici2-600.jpg

Stilt Walkers and dancers accompany the main floats.

misici3-600.jpg

Woody and Jessie seem ready for a celebration.

misici4-600.jpg

Chip!

misici5-600.jpg

misici6-600.jpg

Mr. Incredible and Frozone struck me as somewhat of a strange choice for this parade, especially draped in beads, but whatever. I like The Incredibles so I’ll go with it.

misici7-600.jpg

misici8-600.jpg

I don’t tend to see Frozone out a lot, so I thought it was cool that he got to be included.

misici9-600.jpg

Once the floats stop and the Street Party begins, the “Life of the Party” pops out the tops of four of the floats. Here’s Genie, looking buffer than I seem to remember him.

misici10-600.jpg

The Mad Hatter seemed extra-mad today.

misici11-600.jpg

Probably the most exciting character for me- Lumiere. You don’t really get to see him much besides the Beauty and the Beast show at Hollywood Studios, so I thought it was great to include him in this.

misici12-600.jpg

misici13-600.jpg

Sebastian was another more rarely-seen character that I thought was a lot of fun to have in the parade. You don’t see him very much at all!

misici14-600.jpg

misici15-600.jpg

Genie raises the roof.

misici16-600.jpg

More Hatter. I think he was the toughest to photograph since he seemed to be in a perpetual state of motion. These are about the best I could get.

misici17-600.jpg

misici18-600.jpg

I spent most of the rest of the Street Party taking pictures of Lumiere. Yes, I know, I was playing favorites, but I wanted to make sure I had some good ones. Here’s a few of the best.

misici19-600.jpg

misici20-600.jpg

misici21-600.jpg

misici22-600.jpg

Woody was at the bottom of Lumiere’s float and wanted to get in on the act and posed for me.

Once it was time for the floats to head out, Buzz and I headed back towards Frontierland to check the lines at Splash Mountain. Later on, when Buzz was looking at my pictures, he pointed out something to me- I didn’t get any pictures of Mickey, Minnie, Donald or Goofy. I got so wrapped up in getting pictures of some of the lesser-seen characters that I totally missed getting pictures of the main ones! Well, it’s not like there aren’t plenty of other places to get pictures of them, but perhaps if we see this parade again I’ll have to make them a priority. All in all, I think we enjoyed Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! From a watcher’s standpoint as opposed to a participant’s standpoint (I’m sure it’s a whole other experience if you’re dancing in the street with the performers), it’s really colorful and high energy and there are some cool characters out you don’t see very often. All in all, a fun little parade.

Next chapter: Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and more

Hi Meeko!

Had lots to catch up on, but enjoyed reading it all! Epcot and DHS will be really nice at Christmas, and we loved the Biergarten and I think it will be lovely all decorated!

The wait for the fairies didn't sound too bad, I think you do need to get there really early to avoid too long of a wait.

Great photos of the characters and the parade. Alice and the Mad Hatter are the same ones we had at breakfast at 1900 PF - and you're right, the Mad Hatter is very lively!!! Very much in character!!!!! Ben and Heather still talk about how he scolded Ben for "eating Piglet!" at breakfast!!!

Happy planning!

Hey Di!

The wait for the Fairies really wasn't too bad, but it was still (*slight spoiler alert* lol) the longest wait of the trip. Plus, by getting there early, it kind of split the wait up into 15 minutes outside Toontown and then 20 or so in the slightly claustrophobic Hall of Fame queue watching that same loop of videos over and over.

That's too funny about Alice and the Mad Hatter. I went back to your TR to watch the videos again and I think you're right.

With Peter Pan's Flight, Pixie Hollow and Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! experienced, we made our way to the other side of the Magic Kingdom to do a few of our priorities for the day, starting with Buzz's Favorite Magic Kingdom attraction, Splash Mountain.

sleepyhollow-600.jpg

On the way, we made one quick stop at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square. I had seen photos of their Halloween display complete with Ichabod and Headless Horseman pumpkins and I really wanted to see them for myself.

splashmountain1-600.jpg

Finally we made our way to Splash Mountain. The wait time was only 20 minutes but the Fastpass return was in 30 minutes, so I suggested that we get Fastpasses, ride Pirates of the Caribbean and come back. Buzz wanted to just wait in line though, and we did. I have a feeling that Buzz wanted to see all the theming in the queue and get the full experience instead of just bypassing it all in the Fastpass line.

splashmountain2-600.jpg

splashmountain3-600.jpg

We ended up waiting a little less than 20 minutes which gave us enough time to chat about what we did on our solo time this morning, soak up the atmosphere (no Splash Mountain pun intended), and put on our ponchos. Yes, we’re some of those people who wear ponchos on the water rides. Splash Mountain is a good ride and all, but we’re not too fond of walking around the parks wet. It’s one of the main reasons we’ve never done Kali River Rapids, one of the very few attractions we’ve never experienced. Anyway, we get our ponchos on, board our log and begin our ride. It was fun as usual. There’s so much detail in this ride I feel like I see tons of new things every time I ride it!

splashmountain4-600.jpg

After putting our ponchos away and checking out our onride photos (I never like these and yet I always have to look), we checked out the Brer statues outside the ride.

splashmountain5-600.jpg

Next, we went over to Big Thunder to see how the wait was there. The queue at this ride isn’t as interesting and the Fastpass window a little longer, so we decided to go ahead and grab some passes and head of Pirates of the Caribbean.

splashmountain6-600.jpg

One more look at Brer Rabbit along the way.

pirates1-600.jpg

Welcome to Adventureland, the only land of the Magic Kingdom we haven’t been to so far today.

pirates2-600.jpg

Pirates of the Caribbean ended up pretty much being a walk-on which was great.

pirates3-600.jpg

Along the way, we stopped to check out the chess playing skeletons, prompting others who were about to just go right past it to take a look. Sometimes you’ve just have to slow down or you’re going to miss things! pirate: After the ride we decided to head back to Frontierland to wait out the remaining time until we could ride Big Thunder.

woodyjessieline1-600.jpg

Near Splash Mountain, we saw a character line forming. When we passed on the way to Pirates, we saw Jessie there, so I talked Buzz into joining the line. He had never met Jessie before so he came with me too. While we waited, we watched Splash Mountain and checked out some of the nearby details. I didn’t know that the Haunted Mansion had a name!

woodyjessieline2-600.jpg

Any guesses on who “P. Bill” is?

woodyjessie1-600.jpg

After a few minutes Jessie and Woody come out. If you can believe this my brother, the big Toy Story fan, had never met Woody either! The only character from the movie he’s ever met was Buzz, so I think he enjoyed getting to meet them. He even got another kiss from Jessie.

woodyjessie2-600.jpg

It was great to see these two back in the Magic Kingdom. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Jessie anywhere besides parades.

briarpatch1-600.jpg

With the remaining time before our Fastpass window opened, we browsed through the Briar Patch shop next to Splash Mountain. This is another of my favorites in the park because of its great displays.

briarpatch2-600.jpg

briarpatch3-600.jpg

bigthunderclosed-600.jpg

Finally, our window was opened, so imagine our surprise when we get there and are told that Big Thunder is temporarily down! The CMs couldn’t seem to promise when it would be open again, but assured us that we could come back and use our Fastpasses later even if the ride wasn’t open until after our window was closed

adventureland1-600.jpg

Since Big Thunder was out of the question for the moment, we decided to head back to Adventureland to see about riding the Jungle Cruise. Buzz wasn’t sure if we could get another Fastpass already, but I was pretty sure I’d read that you were allowed to get one after your current Fastpass window opens-. Turns out that I was right and we left with Fastpasses in hand for the Jungle Cruise.

adventureland2-600.jpg

With Fastpasses for two attractions to wait to use, we figured this would be a good time for a lunch break, so we headed off in the direction of Columbia Harbour House.

Next chapter: More Frontierland, Adventureland and Liberty Square

I was a little behind.

I love all your Lumiere pictures, they turned out really well. It disturbs me that Mr. Incredible is wearing beads too...something just doesn't seem right with that. :rotfl:

I'm loving that Jessie & Woody are back doing character greetings at MK. I think Jessie is such a great character, especially for those little girls who aren't into princesses.

Hey LL. :)

Glad you like the Lumiere pics. I probably took at least twice as many pictures of him than I posted trying to get some good shots. I've never been able to get a really good one of him in the show at DHS so I'm glad that these came out as well as they did.

Jessie was great. glad she's no longer MIA. I wasn't a big fan of her when Toy Story 2 came out, but she's grown on me over the years.

frontierland1-600.jpg

On the way to Columbia Harbour House, Buzz wanted to stop in the Pin Shop in Frontierland. We still had those Disney Dollars that we had gotten each other for our birthday to spend, and Buzz figured that this would be a good place to look for something to get with them. I looked around for a little while before deciding that I’d rather do some exploring in Fronterland until Buzz was ready.

frontierland2-600.jpg

An attempt at still life.

frontierland3-600.jpg

I had never really noticed this view of Frontierland before. I wish I had noticed that the sky was blown out in the picture so I could try again, so this will have to do. While exploring, I noticed Donald Duck in his Davy Crockett outfit doing meet-and-greets and got in line.

frontierland4-600.jpg

A view of the Riverboat from the line to see Donald. As you can see, it was already decorated for Tiana’s Riverboat Jubilee. I’m still a little bummed we’re not going to be able to see that in December. :( Oh well.

frontierland5-600.jpg

While in line, Donald had to leave for a quick break to “kiss Miss Daisy”. The CM with the duck really played it up, saying that he wanted to see smiles from anybody despite Donald’s absence. For those who weren’t smiling, he threatened that they’d be sent to the Hall of Presidents. In his own words, “It never has any lines. There’s a reason for that.”

frontierlanddonald1-600.jpg

Donald Crockett himself.

frontierlanddonald2-600.jpg

By now, Buzz was ready to move on. He ended up getting a Toy Story pin that said “Happy Birthday” on it, which seemed pretty fitting for the trip.

hallofpresidents-600.jpg

The Hall of Presidents itself. Despite Donald’s CM’s deterring words about it, it was still one of our main priorities of the day since we hadn’t seen it since it’s re-opening. We’ll get to that later though; it’s lunch time now.

columbia-600.jpg

Columbia Harbour House is one of our favorite counter service restaurants in Magic Kingdom. The food’s pretty good and it’s not usually too crowded either. Before the trip, I was excited to hear that they had added a shrimp basket to the menu. I love shrimp and knew that was exactly what I wanted for my birthday lunch. I was fully expecting to get some little popcorn shrimp that you’d expect to find at Long John Silvers or something, but it turned out to be a bunch of large fried shrimp plus lots of fries and coleslaw. It was even better than I had hoped for! It was really very good too. I was surprised and happy. :thumbsup2 Buzz got the chicken nuggets with High School Musical apples (Apparently, the side of apple slices now come in a bag covered with pictures with pictures of the High School Musical characters, prompting a running joke of calling them “High School Musical apples”. In case you were wondering, they don’t make you spontaneously break out into song or dance ), and he said that it was good too.

Usually, Columbia Harbour House is great because there’s a bunch of seating upstairs that nobody seems to use. Well, this time it was packed! We’ve never had trouble getting a table up there, but we did this time. We did finally manage to get one, but I was pretty surprised, especially since the park wasn’t that busy today. I guess the word must have finally gotten out about this place. :confused3

junglecruise1-600.jpg

After lunch, our Fastpass window for the Jungle Cruise was open, so it was back to Adventureland for us.

junglecruise2-600.jpg

Care for a free kitten?

junglecruise3-600.jpg

Welcome to the Africa. It’s not exactly Kilimanjaro Safaris, but it’s still fun nonetheless.

junglecruise4-600.jpg

I’m sure that you already know the joke. If not, I won’t spoil it for you.

junglecruise5-600.jpg

Entering mysterious Shir Lee Temple.

junglecruise6-600.jpg

Our intrepid driver guides us safely through the elephant pool. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels that the Jungle Cruise skippers seem to have become less playful and more deadpan over the years. I don’t know if it’s part of the act, but the last few skippers we’ve had have just made it feel like they really hate their job and are sick of the ride. Today’s skipper was ok, but did seem to have the same attitude.

tikiroom-600.jpg

After leaving the jungle, we headed back towards Frontierland to see if Big Thunder Mountain was up and running again. It turned out it was, but now Splash Mountain was broken. Seemed like a bad day for mechanical troubles on rides- first Barnstormer, then Big Thunder, then Splash.

bigthunder1-600.jpg

The ride was great. I knew we couldn’t top our last ride on it at Christmas at night complete with Wishes fireworks bursting above us during the ride’s finale, but it was still great fun. It’s one of my favorites in the park, probably #2 after Peter Pan’s Flight, so I’m glad we got to ride it after all.

bigthunder2-600.jpg

Before moving on, we got a few pictures of the mountain. Of course, the obligatory shot of the train barreling through is a must.

bigthunder3-600.jpg

banjobrothers-600.jpg

By now, we had less than 30 minutes before the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade stepped off, so we decided to make our way to Liberty Square to find a spot. Along the way, we caught a brief glimpse of the Notorious Banjo Brothers and Bob entertaining the crowds already along the parade route.

Next chapter: Celebrate A Dream Come True

Another great update!! I'm sorry I haven't been replying as much as I should be!!!! I really enjoy Frontierland and Adventureland!!! I have to agree with you about Jungle Cruise, the ride is really made by the skipper you have and while I've been mostly lucky with skippers there are a few who would rather be anywhere but there, but we all have bad days.

Glad you guys had a great birthday lunch...looking forward to more!

More beautiful pics :thumbsup2

I love Donald in the Davey Crockett outift!

I think the key to the Jungle Cruise is riding early in the morning before the drivers get too bored

Have you ever ridden Jungle Cruise at night? The last few times I've gone it, it has been at night and the skippers have been AWESOME. I highly recommend it!

Love the picture of Donald in his Crockett gear, those are great pics you took.

Oooh, I want a shrimp basket! I was actually contemplating having shrimp for dinner tonight...I might have to give CHH another try.

Great update. Love all your pictures. That stinks that there were so many rides broken down! That happened to us once at Disneyland. We ended up getting stuck on small world  which caused us to miss our fastpass time for the Indiana Jones ride. Well, they told us we could still use them but when we finally got off IASW Indiana Jones was broken down.

Hey Jen! Great to see you. I was wondering where you were.

Yeah, that's vert true about the skippers. We've had some great ones too, but lately they're just not as fun. We still enjoyed the ride though.

Thanks Dawn. :)

I really liked his Crockett outfit too. Finding Donald at MK wasn't really much of a priority for me since I knew that I'd be seeing him at Cape May the next day, but I just couldn't pass up getting a pic of him dressed like that.

Good point about the Jungle Cruise. Maybe they're more fun when they've had their morning coffe and haven't been around the jungle dozens and dozens of times.

Hey LL!

You know, I never have done the Jungle Cruise at night. What a good idea! We couldn't have done it on this trip because the park closed pretty much as soon as it got dark, but maybe in the future. Thanks for the tip. :thumbsup2

I definitly recommend the shirmp at Coloumbia. If you like shrimp, it's worth a try. It was probably the best fast food shrimp I've ever had.

Thanks Sarah. I'm just glad that all the breakdowns didn't really hinder us too much besides having to wait a little to do some of the rides after they reopened.
