3 WDW Trips in 6 months: August, October and December Reports *Completed*

I think your plans look great for October!

I think that other fish is named Flo if I am remembering my Finding Nemo correctly.

BEAUTIFUL photos! You normally take great photos but that one of the rose is simply gorgeous. That needs to be framed!

Great photos from Epcot - the weather looks lovely. Will need to spend more time exploring the pavilions and gardens there next year. Can't wait to try the 'Kim Possible thing' ;), have heard it's really good fun.

I missed seeing the diver demo at The seas last year, I did some scuba training when I was a teenager and it was great fun. Hopefully will see it next time.

Your plans are looking good for October - hopefully you'll get a good deal. Where's the World Premiere Food Court?

Thanks LL. :)

You might be right about that fish, but I was thinking it was one of Nemo's friends from school. It's been a few years since I've seen that movie

Thanks Di. Kim Possible was fun. I think I'm hoping to get to us finally doing a mission sometime in the next week.

The World Premiere Food Court is at All Star Movies (I guess I should have mentioned it in the pre-trip post... I think I'll add that in). We're planning having a late dinner there after MK is closed. The pictures we've seen of the place online makes it look really cool with all the different stands in the food court all looking like old movie theaters. It should be fun.

Starting to worry about getting that good deal for December though. I thought they were supposed to announce any new Florida resident discounts at the beginning of October and they haven't yet. Maybe next week.

Followed you over from my TR...I haven't read everything yet but I had to comment on the flashback trip with the Doug Live show. Too funny! I remember seeing that. I think there was one part where they had audience members come up to be members of the Beets. LOL!

Oh, did I mention I'm jealous you have 3 trips so close together?! Awesome.

Hi and welcome aboard. :) Hope you're enjoying what you've read so far.

Yeah, I remember that the Beets were audience members! If I can remember right, they gave them quite the fanfare when they came on too- smoke and lights and everything. How fun must that have been? It was a good show; wish it had lasted longer.

Finally, I managed to make it over to the International Gateway to pick up our Kimmunicator for the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure. The whole transaction was pretty easy- a CM exchanged my reservation Fastpass-ish slip for a Kimmunicator (essentially a cell phone with the game on it) and explained a little of how it worked and that Kim’s friend Wade and some of the other characters from the show would explain more once the game was started.

bellefrance1-600.jpg

After getting the Kimmunicator, I noticed that Belle was over in France with a short line, so I decided to head over there to say hi and take a few pictures.

bellefrance2-800.jpg

Belle was truly her quick-witted self today. She asked me which kingdom I was from and, meaning Florida, I told her, “This one”. “Oh”, she replied, “the Animal Kingdom?” Nice one, Belle. You just know she’s had lots of practice making cracks like that at Gaston. ;) As I was leaving, she told me that Sleeping Beauty just woke up from a nap and was hanging out in the garden, so I went over to see her too.

aurorafrance1-600.jpg

Princess Aurora- the Sleeping Beauty.

The rest of the family had made it to the United Kingdom by now, so I went over to meet them and start the Kim Possible Mission. We start up the game and Wade, our contact through the missions comes on to tell us how to use the Kimmunicators. Buzz, Dad and I are fairly into it at this point, while Mom didn’t. I think she was a little put-off at first because she knew nothing about the Kim Possible show. I was really hoping once the game got started, she would really enjoy it. She loves World Showcase, so it seemed like this would be something up her alley. Wade tells us that for our first mission, we’ll be heading to France. Since we didn’t have enough time to get in a whole mission before lunch, we decided to pause the game (which is really easy- you just close the Kimmunicator) and just spend some time looking around the UK before heading off to Chefs de France.

uk-jester.jpg

I really wanted to get some nice photos of this display in the main entrance to the sports shop, but didn’t have a whole lot of luck. This was about the best I could get,

ukstairs-600.jpg

Another shop in the UK.

poppinsprops-600.jpg

One of my favorite little details of the pavilion, Mary Poppins’ carpet bag- complete with lamp coming out of it- in the back of the Toy Shop.

uktoysoldierex-600.jpg

Outside, I worked on getting a few shots of some of the architecture of the pavilion.

ukbandstand-600.jpg

ukgarden-6002.jpg

Probably one of Dad’s favorite spots in the pavilion, the little garden behind the cottage.

balloonoverchina-600.jpg

On the way to France, we noticed the Characters In Flight balloon from Downtown Disney seemingly flying over the China pavilion. You can really tell how high it really goes when you can see it all the way at EPCOT and it still towers over World Showcase. Still no regrets from most of us for passing that up on Day One.

Next chapter: Dining with a rat and battling super villains- two things I thought I’d never do in France

I think my favorite WS pavilion is the United Kingdom. It is just so pretty!

Woah! That characters in flight balloon goes way up! I don't know if I could handle that. I can't imagine the views though, so very pretty.

Oh I'm sure the views are spectacular, but I'm with you- I'm not sure hiw I would handle it. It might be something I'm willing to try someday, but not anytime soon, I can tell you that.

I’ve been holding off posting my character priorities for October since usually around the first of the month, Disney switches around the character line-up, taking out old characters, putting in new ones, and usually shuffling a few more around. I didn’t want to say I was making a character a priority and then find out the month of the trip that they were no longer there. Happily, none of the characters I was hoping would still be out by the trip seemed to have disappeared. It looks like the main casualties of this fall have been the Peter Pan characters in Adventureland (with the exception of Peter who apparently has moved to Fantasyland near Philharmagic), Rafiki in Adventureland (Stitch has been relocated at his old spot and Lilo has now joined him) and Kenai and Koda at Camp Minnie-Mickey (replaced by Thumper and Miss Bunny- which makes me wish we were going to AK… maybe next year). It also sounds like Marie is moving to France in EPCOT and should be coming out on a more regular basis, so that should be good news too (right LL?). That said, here are the characters that I’m hoping to see in October:

tinkparade-500.jpg

Tinker Bell and friends from Pixie Hollow As I’ve mentioned before, I’m planning on braving the crowds at Toontown rope drop to go to Pixie Hollow and meet Tinker Bell and friends for the first time. I’m excited about the prospect of getting to meet some new characters since I haven’t on my last two trips. Besides knowing Tinker Bell through Peter Pan, I’m really not that familiar with the Fairies, so as long as she’s there, it doesn’t really matter who the other ones with her that day are.

whiterabbit-500.jpg

Alice in Wonderland characters It’s been a few years since I’ve seen any of the Wonderland characters, so I want to make it a priority to meet some over by the Mad Tea Party. I’m especially hoping to see the White Rabbit since he’s another character that I have met but don’t have an autograph of, and I’ve heard that he’s been out recently.

fairygodmother-500.jpg

Fairy Godmother from Cinderella It’s been a good three years since I’ve met the Fairy Godmother for the first and only time thus far. I’ve heard that she’s been near the Castle lately, so I’m hoping to find her again this time as well.

woody-500.jpg

Woody’s Roundup characters from Toy Story 2 Another new addition to the character line-up at MK this month- Woody and Jessie appear to be back in Frontierland! Haven’t met wither of these two for a while either, so I’m hoping to see them again, and Buzz has never met them and might be coming with me. (On a side note, Buzz and I saw Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D over the weekend and had a great time. It was really cool to see both movies together on the big screen and in 3D. It really got us even more excited to be staying at All Star Movie and hopefully in the Toy Story area).

goofy-500-1.jpg

Goofy and Friends at Cape May Cafe Both Buzz and I are looking forward to our character breakfast at Cape May. Apparently Goofy, Minnie and Donald are the usuals here and hopefully all will be there and accounted for. Plus, I’m excited to see these characters in outfits I haven’t seen them in before. Should be fun!

tremaines-500.jpg

Anastasia, Lady Tremaine and Drizella from Cinderella Even though Buzz nixed my idea for a birthday dinner at 1900 Park Fare, I still want to see the Stepfamily so I really want to see if they’re out in their usual spot in Fairytale Garden.

Speaking of characters, due to Geocities closing down later this month, my character web site (the one with the link in my signature) will be closing a little while after we get back from Disney. It’s a little sad for me to see it go since I’ve had it for over 7 years, but since there’s no more free web hosting like Geocities anymore and I’m not willing to pay for it, it will disappear. Most of the photos from it are on my Flickr page and all the new ones will be posted in this trip report, of course, but that will be it.

In happier October news, Buzz and I did the math and realized that this will be our 30th trip to the Magic Kingdom. Yet another reason to celebrate! :woohoo:

30 trips to WDW! Wowser!

I am very excited about Miss Bunny & Thumper being at AK. I wanted to meet Koda and Kenai too but I just adore Thumper. He's one of my favorites. So cute and cuddly.

I'm excited about Marie too. I think a lot of my solo time is going to be hunting for characters.

I'd love to see Jesse too. I might go see Toy Story 3D this weekend. I mainly want to see Toy Story 2 because I don't own that one and haven't seen it in years.

EDIT: I saw last week that your page was going down. That's very sad. I had to cruise and look at all the photos again. You've taken some really great ones of characters.

Hi LL!

Actually, that's only 30 trip to MK. We've had at least a dozen trips where we haven't gone there (including this past one from August) so our grand total will actually 43 or 44. I'm a bit fuzzy on that math.

I'm really glad Thumper and Miss Bunny are finally out. It does make me kinda wish that we were going to AK in December though, but besides seeing the bunnies, I feel alright with skipping AK for the other trips and seeing some of the other parks like MK and DHS.

Toy Story in 3D was great. It almost feels like one long movie with 1 and 2 playing together. It's amazing how well they fit together and feel cohesive. It had been a fe years since I'd seen either. I think I saw them last when Buzz got the DVDs last time they were released, so it was great to revisit them.

Glad you have enjoyed the character site. Wish it could be up for longer, but I guess it's time to move on from it.

Hi Meeko!

All caught up again now! Wow 40+ trips to WDW - amazing!!! Not that I'm jealous or anything though!;) The food court in AsMo sounds like good fun!

The UK pavilion photos are lovely - will need to spend more time looking about WS next year.

The balloon looks like it goes really high - there is NO way I'm going anywhere near it!

TS 3D sounds great - my son is currently watching TS2 on DVD!!!

Di x

You will love meeting the Fairies! I'm pretty sure Tink is always there along with 2 of the others. It was really neat meeting them. They did a great job interacting with everyone which I think explains the long wait for them!

Hey Di! Glad you're all caught up again.

Plenty of time in World showcase is a must for us. They'll be much more photos to come too. France will be up tomorrow; I can pretty much promise that.

I figured that the balloon photo wouldn't convince you to give it a try. I think you and my family are pretty much in the same boat.

Toy Story was so great in 3D. Buzz and I had a blast seeing it on the big screen again.

Sounds great. I've heard so many good things about it. I'm just not excited about the line. I've heard that if it opens at 10am to show up and wait and the rope at 9:30 so I'm really going to try to do that. It hurts a little that it will take away from some of the that prime first-hour time in the morning, but I'm hoping that it will be worth it.

francebridge1-600.jpg

Bienvenue a France. C’est mon pavilion favorite du “World Showcase”. (My apologies if my French is wrong here, but as far as I can remember from my high school French it is).

francebridege2-600.jpg

It was clear that today would have plenty of interesting adventures- not only would we be enjoying lunch at Chefs de France as planned, but now our Kim Possible Mission would also begin in France as well.

franceimpressionstower-600.jpg

Dad wanted to check-in at Chefs de France even though we were a good ways off from our ADR time, so the rest of us did a little exploring and took some pictures in the area.

francebonappetit-600.jpg

The first sign of the day of the special guest chef we would be meeting at lunch today.

chefssign-600.jpg

Dad got us all checked in and we were immediately added to the list. Now before the trip, we had planned very carefully exactly what our ADR time for France would be. We checked the schedules of when Remy came out and planned it exactly so we would be sure to have a chance to see him. However, the plans get a little thrown out of whack when we’re called to our table 20 minutes before our ARD time! :scared:

chefsinterior1-600.jpg

Chefs de France is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World, and in general we had a wonderful time there this time, but at the same time I have to say that this wasn’t my favorite meal here. First, I was a little stressed out we had been seated so early and was wondering if our new dining time would still allow us to see Remy. This was likely more due to residual stress from this morning’s episode of losing my backpack and getting lost in the bayou twice this morning rather than anything about the restaurant, but did impact my experience. Secondly, we were seated right very close to the door so people were walking by our table all the time. Thirdly, our server seemed to stand about five steps from our table facing us pretty much the entire meal which was a little awkward. I kept feeling that she wanted us to hurry up, which I’m sure she didn’t because she did have other tables in her section that for most of the time were not filled but it felt that way. Usually I hate to sound nit-picky, but really, it was not the best greatest we've ever had at the restaurant.

chefsinterior2-600.jpg

Of course, the good of the meal certainly outweighed the awkward and stressful. The food was good, as always. I had the Quiche Lorraine and enjoyed it. The rest of the family liked their's meals too. Buzz got the Chicken Crepes that I had last time and also really enjoyed them. I think Dad ended up getting the burger, and I don't remember what Mom ordered (maybe the Chicken Crepes as well). The restaurant was still beautiful as well. We all enjoyed ourselves despite the other circumstances which were, in reality, minor things that were a little off.

chefremy1-600.jpg

Of course one of the highlights of the meal was the appearance of Chef Remy to our table. It turns out that I was indeed stressing out over nothing because since we were seated in the middle section of the restaurant, no matter what side of the room Remy started at, we would be sure to see him. The whole experience was very clever. An attendant rolled a cart up to our table and asked if we would be interested in meeting our chef. She lifts the lid off a platter on the cart revealing little Remy! It was great, except that the moment they came to our table, the maitre d’ was seating another group and the cart blocked the way. They ended up stopping and standing right in front of our table and watching Remy’s interaction with us. It was hard to get a picture of him without of the guest’s hand behind him (you can see it on the left in this picture).

chefremy2-600.jpg

My favorite shot of Remy- a pretty much hand-free one (thanks to cropping and a little Photoshop on the far right edge). Remy was so adorable and fun to see. It’s just amazing how almost everyone in the restaurant was so enchanted by a little rat. Well, not everyone… there were a few people in the dining room that obviously did not like rats in any form and were a bit freaked out by it, but for the most part, Remy seemed to be quite the crowd pleaser. All in all, we all had a very nice lunch at Chefs de France. :thumbsup2

During our meal, we had noticed that the beautiful blue skies of the morning had disappeared and it was already starting to rain. Every other day of the trip it hadn’t started until late afternoon, but not today, by the end of the meal, it was still pretty gray and a little wet, but not enough to keep us from starting our Kim Possible Mission.

francelapetitrue-600.jpg

After leaving Chefs de France, we got out the Kimmunicator once again and checked in with Wade. It turns out that the mission in France asks us to help Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable thwart the evil plan of villains Señor Senior, Sr. and Señor Senior, Jr. I won’t give always the Seniors’ plan, but if you’re familiar with the show, it sounds just like something they’d think up. As we started going around and finding clues, everyone was getting into it- even Mom who wasn’t sure she would enjoy it. I knew she would like it! There’s all sorts of hidden special effects that have been added to the pavilion and Wade even lets you in on a few little secrets along the way.

francetower-600.jpg

One of the secrets Wade told us was the best spot in the pavilion to see the Eiffel Tower. I won’t say where it is or what special reason Wade has to take you there, but see if you can figure out where this special spot it. I can assure you that we’ll be back here on a future trip to take more pictures of it when the skies are clearer. In the end, we manage to defeat the Seniors and save France. Moments later it really starts to rain harder. We had been dodging a drizzle here and there throughout the mission, but now it was about to pour. :umbrella: Turns out that we finished that mission just in time!

francegargoyal-600.jpg

To get out from the rain, we decided to watch Impressions de France, the film in the pavilion and our favorite in World Showcase. While we were waiting for the movie, we managed to see the last part of the France mission, which was basically Kim thanking us for the help, and checked out a little bit of the displays in the lobby. If I can remember right, last time we were here the displays compared scenes from The Hunchback of Notre Dame with photos from the real cathedral in Paris. Now, all reference to the Hunchback seemed to have been removed and the focus was only on the real-life Notre Dame.

francerain-600.jpg

Here’s a look outside the main entrance of the attraction to the outside. It was really coming down now.

The movie was wonderful. Unlike the movies in China and Canada, this one has seats, and unlike the ones in Norway, these seats are really comfortable. Between the seats and the beautiful classical music than serves as the movies soundtrack, there were a few times I was so relaxed that I would zone out and then had to tell myself to watch the movie- which is also beautiful. :cloud9: It was such a wonderful relaxing afternoon break.

franceshop-600.jpg

After the movie, the weather appeared to be letting up some (not a lot, but not nearly as bad as the downpour it was when we went in). We did a little more looking through the shops, and Mom found a few things to buy (France is always one of her favorite places to find little things for the house). Once the rain seemed to let up enough to head on, we left France and continued on our World Showcase Adventure.

Next chapter: More World Showcase and Kim Possible

Great Update!! I really enjoyed our Kim Possible mission and thought it was really cute for kids!!! I could see how much more they would like the World Showcase!! I wonder if they will be making any new missions in the future!!!!

Les Chefs is one of my favorite restaurants I love it!! I had the quiche this time around and it was really good but I'm going to have to say I love the croque monsieur even more and will be having that again when I go!!!! YUMMY!!!!!

Don't you just love France I know I do!!! Such a great Pavillion!!!

That downpour looks like the exact downpour Jen & I escaped by watching Impressions de France too! :rotfl2:

Remy is just so freaking cute. I've heard they are keeping him there for the near future since he's been such a big hit. :thumbsup2

Thanks Jen. Glad you're back. :)

Yes, I'm with you- I just love the France pavillion. It's my absolute favorite in EPCOT. I don't think that I've ever tried the croque monsieur at Les Chefs. There's just so many good things to pick from! Maybe next time...

We all had a blast with the Kim Possible Adventures. I can assure you we will be doing more of these in this trip and future trips as well. I haven't heard anything about new missions, but I know that each country has more clues and effects than you can see in one mission so you can do the same country multiple times and may not get the exact same mission.

We have an inside joke in our family that EPCOT and rain always go together. There's always rain in Florida, especially in the Summer, but for some reason we always seem to get the most at EPCOT. We sure have escaped into Impressions, American Adventure, Mexico, and plenty of other places over the years.

Isn't Remy just adorable? I was glad to hear he's sticking around for a while. It would be a shame if he missed out on the Food and Wine Festival, you know? ;)

japankoipond-600.jpg

Continuing along World Showcase, we skipped Morocco since we knew we’d return there for dinner at Tangierine Café and headed straight to Japan. We had talked about doing another Kim Possible Mission in Japan, but it wasn’t one of the choices (it turns out it only lets you pick from a few countries and not all of them) and the closest one to us would be Germany since Morocco, America and Italy don’t have missions. We picked Germany and decided to look around the countries in between before our mission.

japantori-600.jpg

A glimpse at the Tori Gate.

japangarden-600.jpg

We looked around for a little while at the shop and the garden area near the Pagoda. We even got to talk to the woman who normally does the storytelling about the pavilion and the koi for a little bit. She wasn’t doing her usual show because it was a little wet- not the type of weather you want to turn on your microphone in. We also went to see the gallery in the back that has the Tin Toys exhibit, but it turned out to be closed and apparently getting replaced.

americagarden-600.jpg

Next, we visited the American Adventure. I had seen a picture similar to this one online before I left and wanted to try my own version. I think it came out ok. Not as good as the inspiration, but ok.

americanadventuretoys-600.jpg

Before leaving, the Kidcot station caught my eye. There weren’t any CMs or kids there because of the weather so I could take a look at all the interesting toys on the shelf behind it.

americancreepydoll-600.jpg

This one really caught my eye- take a look at the creepy two-faced doll.

italyangel-600.jpg

Italy was next. It was lightly raining, but the show went on for the World Showcase Players (no worries for them since they’re loud enough without microphones). They did change their shtick a little and let Romeo and Juliet… I mean Romeo and Edna… “die” standing-up so they won’t get wet. Very thoughtful of them, I think. After the show, we looked around the shops a little. The weather wasn’t nice enough to get lovely shots of the buildings, but closer shots of some of the statues worked out alright.

italyneptune1-600.jpg

The fountain of Neptune.

italyneptune2-600.jpg

italydonkey-600.jpg

The gelato cart donkey. Watch out Eeyore. It looks like there’s another gloomy gray donkey in town.

germanyrailroad1-600.jpg

Before starting our Kim Possible mission, we decided to check out the railroad garden. Seems like it gets bigger and more detailed every time we see it.

germanyrailroad2-600.jpg

germanynutcrackers-600.jpg

We start our mission which has us trying to foil the plot of Professor Dementor, a villain that I really have no memory of. Maybe he starting appearing in it after I had stopped watching? :confused3 Again, I don’t want to give too much away, but I think this one was the best we did so far. Lots of little surprises and clues to find.

germanyclocksign-600.jpg

kimpossiblegermany-600.jpg

I hope you’ll forgive me one spoiler, but this one was too good to pass up. It was one of the few things that I knew was coming (I saw it in either the preview they had on the ABC Christmas Parade or Disney Parks’ Youtube channel or something) and had my camera ready to get the picture. With Dementor defeated, we decided to make our way to China.

germanywel1l-600.jpg

On the way, we found Snow White’s new meet-and-greet area complete with Wishing Well. Snow White herself, however, was nowhere to be found due to the weather. I figured if I couldn’t get a picture of Snow White at her well, the next best thing would be to get a shot of the well by itself.

germanywell2-6002.jpg

Next chapter: Even more Kim Possible, Characters, and World Showcase sights!

Hi Meeko!

Great updates and photos! The 1 of the 2 headed doll was very creepy - can you imaging getting that as a present at Christmas??!!

The Kim Possible missions sound really good fun, and a great way to really check out the different pavilions, which is why WDW started them I suppose.

Shame about the rain, but hopefully it gets better and you get to see SW! :thumbsup2
