3 surgeries in 6 days and only 24 more days til trip!

Last night I finished sewing DD Hawaiian dress. I finished the embroidered Haunted Mansion jacket for DD. That means all the Haunted Mansion jackets are FINISHED! I was also able to finish assembling DD hipster and I was able to work a little on mine. I made 6 more T-shirts with the iron-on transfers so that means all the t-shirts are FINISHED!

Both of my sons and my DIL came over today. We had a YUMMY lunch (or early dinner depending on your view). We had enchiladas. I had to modify mine since I can’t eat certain foods yet but it was still good. I made a TDF dessert. It was the Disney Cruise Line Chocolate Souffle. Oh, it was so incredible! Unfortunately, it is made with flour so DD was not able to have any. I always feel bad having to make her have a different dish than the rest of us, but sometimes it is inevitable. I let her have an extra large bowl of ice cream instead. I shouldn’t have had any either since I am diabetic, but I needed one little “cheat” so I had just a tiny bit.

After lunch, I gave each of them their Haunted Mansion jackets and their T-shirts. They all loved them. I gave DD the dresses I've already made. She went bonkers over them! We printed out all of our documents and had a ‘document signing party’. We made our plans for carpooling to the airport. DH and I are coming from the south side of the airport but DIL and both DSs are coming from the north side of the airport. DIL and both DSs will carpool to the airport together and split the cost of parking. We know what we are going to have for breakfast. We know when and where we are going to meet up in the airport. We know what we are going to pack. I think we have everything covered.

You're right - there are times (usually by about the fifth night in a row at 3:30 in the morning) that I really wonder why I break my back sewing all these things. All it takes is one time of seeing their faces when they get an item and then I know exactly why I do it.

OK, those of you that are observant, you noticed my PTR went from 4 days to go down to 2 days to go – what happened to 3 more days? Well, it’s late enough that the day (Monday) has already ended and we are into Tuesday so technically, it’s only 2 more days!

Last night around midnight, I went up to the sewing room. I finished both of DD head blings and made a third one. If I do say so myself, they are quite cute. I will put pictures up in my TR after I get back so please be watching for those! I finished assembling my hipster and I was able to cut out DD Hawaiian dress.

I had an appointment with my surgeon today. I told him I basically didn'tcare if he didn't want me going on this trip – I was going anyway! I told him to just let me know what to do and not to do and what to watch out for and that was the only thing I was going to listen to anyway! He was very good as he did as I said. SOOOOOOOO… I’M GOING!

I got my nails done today. I think they turned out really good. I didn't know what design to go with so I just told my nail lady to do something “Disney”. I would like to have gotten my nails done on Wednesday, but there is absolutely no time on that day. Hopefully they will last the length of the trip. Well, at least I got to have them done!

I went to the packaging store today to ship my box to the port. It is a 12 X 12 X 12 box and it weighs about 15 pounds. They said I could ship it either UPS or FedEx. It would take 3 – 5 days to get there and it would cost $87.00! (I have to have it to the port NO LATER than Friday at 3:00 so if it takes 5 days, it won’t get there on time. They wouldn't guarantee that it could get there within 3 days with this shipping method either.) -OR- I could have it FedExed overnighted to the port for a “measly” $189.00! I could buy the box it’s own seat on the airplane for that price! I told the shipping store I can just pack an extra suitcase and get charged an extra bag charge and I would still come way out ahead!

When I got home today, there was a large box on the front porch. It was DD car seat! YEAH! I was so worried we weren’t going to get it in time. I am so relieved.

Right now we are having a winter storm warning. We already have about 1 – 1 ½ inches of snow on the ground. We are expecting 2 – 6 more inches of snow. Temps are around 30 degrees so the roads are slicker than you-know-what. I can’t wait to be in the Caribbean!

With my appointments today, I didn't get to do any sewing. I've already been sewing for a couple of hours tonight. I needed a bit of a break so I got onto the DIS. I am going back up to the sewing room now. It is definitely “crunch time”.

I would have liked to have posted pictures earlier, but I didn't know how to post so now I am planning on posting pictures after our trip - and we ended up with major camera problems (see my next post) so I have to definitely wait until I get a new one.

Yeah, I just can't see spending that much money to ship a few trinkets to the port. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so!

You are in shorts??!!! I am envious! The snow melted today but it was COLD!!! Let me know when you find that magical place where it only snows in December. I will move in and be your next door neighbor.

Last night I was able to finish DD Hawaiian dress. WOO HOO!!!! All of the Hawaiian clothing is completed! Those were the most important items for me to finish so I am more than ecstatic! They all look really good. I can’t wait to get a photo of all of us in our matching clothing!

Today I went to get my hair cut. It’s been forever since the last time I cut my hair. I really like my hairdresser. She did a great job on it (which says a LOT – my hair is not very “tameable”). I also went to Kohl’s. I had $30 in Kohl’s cash and I was NOT going to let that go! I bought an adorable little dress for DD. (It has Minnie on it so that is icing on the cake!) I bought myself a dress too. I also bought some socks for both DD and myself.

Hubby was having difficulty adjusting my camera last night so I took it into the camera store this afternoon. They told me that the lenses were out of alignment and although they could fix them, it would probably take 3 – 4 weeks and it would cost more than a new camera. I didn't have time to look at new cameras so I told DH that he has to research cameras tonight and he has to go tomorrow to buy a new one.

Last night I was getting things out of my closet to start getting ready to pack and when I pulled out my nice black shoes, I discovered that the strap was broken. I knew for a while it was getting close to breaking – I just didn't realize how close it actually was. So today I also went out shoe shopping. I absolutely HATE, DESPISE, LOATHE, DETEST, and ABHOR shoe shopping! I have real problems with my feet so it is a definite challenge to find anything that works. I did find a pair of black shoes that were cute. They are a little higher heel than I would have liked and they do hurt quite a bit, but that’s nothing unusual. There was a tag on them that said $12. When I got to the cash register the cashier rung them up, and they came up as $3!!! For that price, I’ll MAKE them work!

I just got done printing off all of our papers we will need. I swear between the airline, 2 rental cars, 2 hotels, 2 scooter rentals, and the cruise line, I used an entire ream of paper! I figure I have added at least 10 pounds of paper to my carry-on bag!

Well, off to the sewing room!

I'm so impressed with how much you're getting done. Can't wait to see all the pictures! Too bad about the camera and the shoes. At least you got an awesome deal on the shoes and you figured out both before you left. That would have been a bummer to get on the boat and realize the camera didn't work.

I love Kohls cash - half of the time mine expires... The sad part is that I rarely get more than $20 worth, so it's hardly worth a special trip to use it. Oh well.. Sounds like you were able to get some nice items with it.

Bummer about the shoes - I have the same problem, most of the time. I have Plantar Fascitis that is constantly acting up - so I have to be super careful about the shoes I do buy - and even those kill me. Sigh. I am glad you were able to find such a good deal though - I'd also make them work for that price. LOL Hopefully they aren't shoes you have to wear often.

What a huge bummer about the camera... but on the plus side - point n' shoots are relatively inexpensive these days, so it does make the most sense just to replace it with a new one. I will be very sad when my camera dies - it's been the best camera I've ever owned. Tell DH to do his research on Amazon... even if he doesn't purchase there - I've found it's the easiest place to find and sort reviews... and they seem to have the most rounded reviews too.

To be honest, I'm surprised at how much I've gotten done. I have come to the conclusion that I am totally off my rocker doing this much in this short amount of time! (Of course, I'll do the exact same thing next trip!).

Unfortunately, cameras are not cheap so I'm really bummed we had to buy a new camera. Hopefully I'll be able to work this one!

I've heard that Plantar Fascitis is quite painful. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

DH did check Amazon. The camera he decided on was $70 cheaper on Amazon that anywhere he could find in a store around here. Our old camera was a DSLR. I could never figure out how to work that thing properly. I always had to put it on "auto". This camera is a simple point and shoot - that is more my speed!

Last night I finished DD third and last dress. Around 4:00 in the morning, as I was getting some things ready to pack, I noticed that both mine and my DD pirate outfits were ripped. (I guess that’s what you get with ‘cheap’ outfits!) I will have to find some time today to fix them.

I've got to do laundry, pack suitcases, and I've got several places to go to today. I will try to give you an update at least one more time before we go!

Like I said, I had a million places to go to today and of course, everything was on opposite ends of town from each other. First, I dropped DD off at school which is only 4 blocks from our house. But that’s when “The Big Drive” begins… After dropping DD off, I had to drive 32 miles one way to the east to go to the doctor to get the stitches out that were in my finger. Then I drove back home to pick up my little doggie (Okay, she’s 55 pounds so not really “little”!) to take her to the kennel. The kennel is 47 miles one way to the North. When they were taking the stitches out, they messed up one of my nails so my nail lady said she could fit me in since it was just one nail so on my way home from the kennel, I had to drive about 13 miles out of the way to get to the nail salon. After getting my nail fixed, I drove another 9 miles to drop off my embroidery machine to get some routine maintenance done on it and then another 8 miles to drop off one of my sewing machines to get the annual maintenance done on that machine. (Since it usually takes about 2 weeks to do, I try to get my routine maintenance done while I’m on vacation.) Then back home – for about 10 minutes (unfortunately, I’m not joking, I’m being literal). Immediately after getting back home, I pick DD up from school because she has an orthodontist appointment in the afternoon. It just had to be scheduled for today – didn’t it! The orthodontist is another 36 miles one way to the south/east.

Unfortunately, I could not coordinate any of the places I had to go to today so I spent the entire day driving! On the way home from the orthodontist, I had to drive a whole 2 blocks out of my way to stop at Krispy Kreme donuts! (How is it that with all my driving today, I only had to drive 2 extra blocks for this?!) Krispy Kreme is what we are having for breakfast tomorrow morning at the airport. I would have preferred to get them in the morning, but it is the opposite way from the way we need to go to get to the airport so it was either get them tonight or not get them at all, which really wasn't an option!

Going to finish up the laundry work on packing!

We leave for the airport at 3:30 in the morning so I won't be updating at that time. I also won't be updating at all on the trip since most of the time, we will be in the middle of the ocean. I will start a TR when I get back. Please watch for it!
