3 surgeries in 6 days and only 24 more days til trip!

Sounds like you had a fantastic day!!!

I hope you are able to find a decent suitcase at a decent price! I hate luggage shopping. I may have to splurge before our next trip and upgrade the girls to bigger luggage - currently they have the size smaller than the biggest and their clothes are nearly as big as mine... It might be time?

Yay - I love watching Disney movies... Especially Tangled... It's my favorite Disney princess movie ever!

I hope you had a great nigth in your sewing room!

D~

I hate luggage shopping too. I can never seem to find what I want. I also hate how expensive luggage is. And it never fails, the first time I use new luggage, it gets damaged buy the airlines.

I did have a pretty good night sewing – thanks!

Last night, I was able to complete the sewing on one of the men's Hawaiian shirt. I finished quilting all of the pieces for my hipster. I had a lot of fun – I started working on some “head bling” for both DD and myself.:cool1:

There’s never a dull moment around our house! This morning, DD was watching TV when all of a sudden, she started screaming. It was one of those screams that you KNOW something is majorly wrong. She was crying but I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. At one point, she opened her mouth and blood started coming out. Well, as it turns out, she wears an orthodontia appliance that broke off of from her tooth. It is ‘spring loaded’ so when it came off her tooth, it sprang out and cut her cheek pretty bad. I stuck my finger in her mouth between the sharp appliance and her cheek. (I would rather it to cut into my finger instead of her cheek.) We walked around the house like that looking for something I could use to help her. (I’m sure we looked pretty funny what with me walking backwards and my finger in DD mouth and DD with her mouth open and trying to watch where to walk!) I finally thought of a small baby spoon. I stuck that between her cheek and the appliance so I was at least able to take my finger out of her mouth. Because the spoon was sticking out of her mouth, she couldn't close her mouth and she was drooling everywhere! I called the emergency number to our orthodontist. She said she could meet us at her office as soon as we could get there. Unfortunately, her office is almost an hour away, but we immediately got into the car and left. The orthodontist was waiting for us when we got to her office. She was able to fix the appliance right away. Again, we were SOOOO lucky this didn't happen on our cruise! I am just thankful that we are getting all these problems out of the way now, but I’m getting very nervous wondering what might happen on the cruise.

After we got home from the orthodontist, we took DD to the swimming pool again. Of course, I couldn't swim because of the stitches in my finger, so I stayed on the side. DD is now pretty comfortable with going underwater and getting her face wet. I think she will do just fine in the ocean.

Hubby made a wonderful dinner tonight. It was a casserole type dish that had chicken, French bread, cream and cheese in it. He is one of those cooks that can just throw things into a pot and it turns out fabulous! It was so delicious.

I know I am going to regret this, but I need a break so I’m not going up to the sewing room tonight. DD will be back in school tomorrow and I will have all day to sew anyway so I don’t want to sew all night tonight too. Instead of sewing, I will finish designing the girl’s Hawaiian dresses. I am planning on combining several different patterns and also making a part of the pattern myself. I hope it will look like the way it looks in my head.

Have a terrific day everyone!

I finished designing the girl’s Hawaiian dresses last night. I think they are going to turn out good. Of course, until I actually sew it together, I won’t know for sure!

DD started back to school today. It was hard getting back into the swing of things. I've enjoyed having her around and I've enjoyed being able to sleep in this past week.

My asthma is finally starting to get better. Over the weekend and today, instead of using the nebulizer every 4 hours, I've been able to go about 6 to 7 hours between treatments. Small improvement, but improvement none the less! :thumbsup2

Today I was able to sew for several hours. I sewed the dresses for DD that already had the shirring. They went together super-fast. A friend of ours is going to Disneyland in a couple of weeks and the mom asked if I would make autograph pillowcases for her kids so I made 3 of them today. I also got part of DD hipster assembled and part of another Hawaiian shirt put together.

We needed to order a new car seat for DD tonight. We ordered it from Amazon. When I checked on Friday, it said 3 – 5 business days to receive it. When I went back on Amazon tonight, it said 4 – 7 business days plus processing time. We must have it for when we are in Florida. It is going to be iffy to get it in time before we leave. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Have a terrific day everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around much. I was at our state planning conference for the past few days. Its always interesting talking to other people from around the state and meeting up with old friends from other areas! Plus I get to learn something new!

Kat is doing fantastically well. She was released from the hospital today. Amazing progress! She is just so happy not to be sick all the time. Thank you for asking!

You've been so busy trying to get everything done for your trip, its no wonder you managed to run over your finger. :laundy: Hope it heals well.

Look at it this way, you will get all the "bad" stuff out of the way before your trip, so you should have a wonderful cruise.:flower3:

No worries, I knew you were at a conference. I'm glad you were able see old friends and to learn something new. It sounds like it was worthwhile for you to go.

I am just so happy to hear about Kat. That's incredible with everything she's been through that she was released all ready! That is just the happiest news!

So far my finger seems to be doing okay. It does itch quite a bit though!

Well, we’re finally down to single digits! It won’t be long now!

I made appointments for next week to get my nails done and to get my hair cut. It’s been a LOOOOOONNNNG time since I've gotten my hair cut. I can’t wait. It’s been driving me nuts for several months now.

My repair guy called me tonight. He said my embroidery machine is fixed. WOO HOO! He really worked hard to get it fixed right away for me. I will get to pick it up tomorrow.

Today, I was able to get the second Hawaiian shirt sewn. Head bling is coming along nicely. I started and finished a dress for DD. I changed the design so it didn't have any embroidery on it.

I had a meeting to attend tonight for a wonderful organization I’m a part of. They help to prevent teenage suicide. I LOVE being a part of this organization, but whenever I go to one of these meetings, it totally drains me. I am going to get into a hot bath and just relax for the rest of the night.

Have a magnificent day everyone!

Yeah on single digits! :banana::banana::banana:

Ouch on sewing your finger, that's always a fear of mine but it sounds like you're getting quite a bit done. And poor DD, at least she was able to get in right away and get it all fixed up. Hope the new seat comes in real soon. Have a great sewing day :)

Yay for single digits!!! I can't believe how much your are getting done! Wahoo!!

That organization sounds like a very worthy cause, but I can understand how draining it must be... one of my biggest fears... :grouphug:

In addition to this time of embroidering my finger, I've actually sewn my finger twice on a sewing machine and once on a big commercial embroidery machine - now THAT hurt!

They were suppose to ship the car seat today, but I never got word that they did so I am getting even more nervous!

Yes, the organization is WONDERFUL. I am glad to be a part of them. Kids are referred to them through school counselors, friends, teachers, basically anyone who is afraid that someone night hurt themselves. The organization then finds a psychiatrist to work with them. If the child's family doesn't have insurance and can't afford to pay, then this organization pays for all the sessions that child may need. It is worth all the work I do if it can help even one family not have to deal with the death of a loved one. I know how awful that is.

After I took my DD to school today, I went and I picked up my embroidery machine. It works great. My repair guy worked wonders on it. He told me all the things that were messed up on it when I sewed my finger but I don’t remember – all I know is it works again!

I did destroy DH’s jacket. I couldn't get the blood out of it. I bought a new jacket today and I was able to do the embroidery on it so all of the man's jackets are done! :cool1: The Haunted Mansion is my most favorite ride. I decided I can’t let some members of my family have a Haunted Mansion jacket and not have one myself so I will be making Haunted Mansion jackets for myself, DIL and DD too. I finished the third and last of the Hawaiian shirts for the men. I cut out the pieces to DIL Hawaiian dress. I feel pretty confident that I will get all the matching Hawaiian clothing done. That was probably the most important thing on my list to get completed so I am excited. :yay:

Have a delightful day everyone!

Yikes! I didn't read the part where you sewed your finger! OUCH!!! Glad you were able to get your machine fixed though, and everyoen has their jackets now.

So, are you going to show us pictures of all this marvelous stuff?

D~

8 days! Yay! I'm so ready to go back... I could have my bags packed in a jiffy?????

I took a Hawaiian shirt for Charlie to wear, and a dress for me, but we never did get a chance to change into them. I had planned to wear them to dinner at Cape May, but we didn't take the time to go back to the resort to change. Maybe next time....

I'm glad he got my machine fixed so fast too. He knows I never say I'm in a hurry to get it back unless I really mean it so he busts himself to get it fixed if I say I'm desperate!

Yes, I am planning on posting pictures after the trip is over. (First, I need to figure out how to do it - computer challenged you know! Second, I need to get my camera working. It's not a biggie - DD 'played' with it and readjusted some dials and I need to figure out how to put them back to where I can take photos the 'dummy' way again!)

I am sorry you didn't have a chance to wear your Hawaiian clothing. I figure that must mean you have to go back so you are able to have the chance to wear them! :rotfl2: It really is the only logical solution!

One week from today, we’ll be in Florida! I'm not ready!!! I still have too much to do!

I didn't get any sewing done today. I went and helped out in DD classroom. I was only supposed to be there for 2 hours, but the volunteer that was supposed to come after me, never showed up and the teacher really needed help so I stayed for a total of 4 hours.

FedEx came today. It was our tickets for WDW! :cool1: One more thing to check off the list!

I went to the grocery store this afternoon. I didn’t get a whole lot of stuff. I don’t want any food to go to waste so I pretty much just got some staples – milk, eggs, cheese, etc. I was able to get some gluten-free frozen muffins for DD. They haven’t had these muffins for a couple of months so I was quite excited (so was DD!).

I had a Girl Scout meeting to go to tonight. Our Daisy troop disbanded at the end of last school year and we are trying to get it back together. I don’t know if we will be successful or not. DD really misses Girl Scouts so I really hope we can work something out.

I hope to have a full day of sewing tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed!

Have a perfect day everyone!

Yay for 7 days!!!!!!!! I just love the last week of anticipation - there is nothing better!

I miss the days of volunteering in the girls' class rooms... When they were really little - I used to do lunch room duty for several years - and I would alternate having lunch with them every Wednesday... Oh, how I miss that. I did offer (just the other day, as a matter of fact) to come have lunch with them at the High School - they both declined. :(

I hope you are able to get the girl scout troop back together... That is one thing my girls never did - as the nearest troop was a 30 minute drive for us. My bff and her dd are still very active in GS though - and we've found ourselves participating in a few events over the years, thanks to them. ;)

I hope you have a fantastic day as well. :)

I loved having lunch with my other children and now with DD. I wasn't "allowed" to eat lunch with my kids once they reached Junior High either.

It's too bad your nearest troop was over 30 minutes away. That is a VERY long way to go. Your girls are lucky though because any benefit they would have received from Scouts, they more than got from you with as awesome of a mom as what you are. It is neat that you have been able to participate in a few of the scout events though.

I love Scouts. My DD made it to Cadet in Girl Scouts and both of my boys make it to Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts. They are both great organizations.

It is less than a week before we go. It’s our last Friday before we leave!

I had an eye doctor appointment today. Ugh, I have to get new glasses. :sad2: I HATE picking out new frames. And even with insurance, I still had to spend a load of money on them. The glasses should be in in about 2 weeks. I’m not in that much of a hurry for them, so I really don’t care much when I get them.

I never did find our missing suitcase so I went to another store to look for a new one today. I found one that I went ahead and purchased. It is “okay”. It is a good size so I am happy about that. The wheels don’t ‘swivel’ which is what I wanted. The only suitcases I could find with swivel type wheels cost an absolute fortune! I would have liked a nice pretty color, but I couldn't find one that would work so this one is the typical black. I always decorate my suitcases with stickers, colorful luggage tags and handle covers so it does stand out from the hundreds of other black suitcases.

Between last night and today, I finished the head bling for myself and started working on 2 different head bling for DD. I sewed most of DIL Hawaiian dress and I got my Haunted Mansion jacket embroidered. I finished designing and printing all the magnets for our cabin door. :yay:

Have a superb weekend everyone!

After my report yesterday, I went up to the sewing room again. Between last night and today I was able to embroider the Haunted Mansion jacket for my DIL. I completed DIL's Hawaiian dress and I cut out DD Hawaiian dress and got a part of it sewn. I also was able to sew and complete DD second dress. It doesn't have any embroidery but it is very ‘princessy’. That makes one more dress to finish. I made 12 more t-shirts with the iron-on transfers.

Today our school had an Oktoberfest. They don’t have Halloween parties in school so this takes the place of them. DD wore her costume. She was Jasmine from Aladdin. She got to play in a bounce house and she rode on a pony. She got to play several carnival-type games. She also ended up winning a cake. It looks delicious, but DD is allergic to gluten and I’m diabetic so I’m not sure what we are going to do with it. I think I might take it to our neighbor – they are going to watch our house while we are gone.

I probably won’t get to sew much tomorrow so I am going to go up now and I think I will sew for several hours before I go to bed. I am definitely on borrowed time finishing up the rest of my sewing.

Have an outstanding day everyone!

Well, thank you very much... I don't think that I quite make up for Girl Scouts - and I am sure my girls would agree (if you ever asked them) - LOL but I really appreciate that you think so highly of me.

Wow - your trip is surely closing in on you... I can't believe how fast it is going! But look at how much you have completed in just a few short weeks since you started your PTR... How awesome!

I am hoping you are able to figure out how to post pictures, as I would LOVE to see what you are making... Here's a thread about how to post pictures for you - it may help you learn how to post them - you'll have to read a couple posts down, but this is how I do it too: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2447483

Have a great day today! :)

I think so highly of you because it is deserved! :goodvibes

I can't believe how much I've gotten done in the last couple of weeks. It does help that I only sleep for 1 - 3 hours a night. My days are much longer than normal people's! :rotfl:

Thanks so much for the link for how to post photos. I will bookmark it and follow it for my TR when I get back.

Have a fantastic day!
