3 sisters + 2 worlds=5 days of Orlando fun! An Aug. '10 TR...final thoughts p. 45

I have the music to that parade too, but I always seem to miss it or I'm somewhere just off of main street like heading into Tomorrowland or on the PeopleMover, or leaving the park...Grrr!! We met Tiana/Naveen too and I have to agree that it was a top notch character interaction!!

Haha, Sarah .. CORBIN BLEU!!! You know that I just had to check out that song on YouTube ... it really is a great song! A very fun song that's perfect for the parks!

Haha, I wouldn't scream either! I'd feel bad for the performers for not being responsive but ... seriously, I wouldn't scream either!

The cheese thing got me cracking up! I admit, beforehand, I would've said "cheese" too, but now I think of SARAH! And then when I think of SARAH in WISCONSIN, I think of MARQUETTE! Haha, you've trained me unintentionally.

What a great character interaction! I still haven't had a really good character interaction the few times that I've tried. I don't really know why.

How terrible of the dad not to let the kid go to the bathroom! I mean, I know I wasn't there ... maybe the kid refused to go earlier or claimed he didn't have to go, but if the kid was really suffering at that point ... ahhhhh. I hate feeling the major need to use the bathroom, which is something I get quite often because I drink a lot of water in the morning for my pills. I wonder if there could've been a way for them to tell the CM at the front that he had to use the bathroom so that they could a FP or something to leave and come back and ride. I mean, they did wait already, so it's not like they were just trying to jump the line.

I don't do Space Mountain anymore because of the headache potential. Years ago when I could handle rattling and shaking, I got a headache from one side of the ride. I don't remember which side it was, so I just don't do it anymore!

Haha, I'm okay if they put me on the screen in Monster's Inc (in 2008, they put up Matt, my mom, and me and pointed out my mom who was "sitting between two monsters""). I just wouldn't want them to put me on the screen for something that requires talking! Or getting up and dancing!!!

YAYYY, another shoutout! And YES, we are enjoying the buttons! I haven't figured out where I'm going to attach it to my bag. I'm also slightly tempted to wear them during our trip in February even though it will have been 7 months after the actual engagement, haha. I just want to celebrate SOMETHING at Disney!

What a fun meet & greet with Tiana & Naveen! I have to admit, when I hear Wisconsin the first things that come to mind are cheese and the Packers.......sorry!

I've never gone to the Monsters, Inc. show just because I'm terrified of being singled out, sounds like a cute show though. Maybe I'll have to swallow my fear and check it out sometime!

Oh great..now I have that Hannah Montana song stuck in my head. "Heyyyyyyyyyy...get uuuuuuuuup.....get llllllllllllllllllloud. We're pumpin' up the party now!"

Oh I love Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor! Fiance is always afraid of getting picked too. We ended up going to the best show ever with Kristen and Chris. We didn't get picked but the guy in front of us did, so Fiance and I were on the screen every time they showed him! :rotfl:

Finally all caught up!!! Loving the update and great pics!!! We had the same Tiana and Naveen when we were in the park that Friday! I thought she was very pretty and Naveen was funny. They played the role great.

What a fun interaction with Tiana and Naveen! Lol I know someone from Wisconsin, and when I met her she was the one who brought up cheese!

I love Monsters, Inc. I haven't been shown on screen yet, but I know it's comin, especially if I am there with my sis. She always gets picked on for things like that.

Tiana and Naveen sound like so much fun! I'm kinda upset we never stopped to meet them. I can understand why constantly being asked about cheese would get annoying. If it helps, whenever I think of Wisconsin, I think of the That 70's Show theme song, specifically the "HELLO WISCONSIN!!!!" part at the very end.

The Laugh Floor always cracks me up. Every time I see it, they always manage to pick the funniest people to play the different parts. This past trip we had a particularly funny bunch. It was so much fun.

Woo hoo for more fun in MK!

Your meet and greet with Tiana and Naveen sounds like so much fun!

I'm glad you got to use those SM FP's! Sorry about the headache though! YIKES!

We haven't done Monsters Inc in a long time! We may have try it again! I would die laughing if DH got picked!

Great updates! I love the pics of the castle that Emma got! :goodvibes That's too bad that you had a headache on SM; definitely spoils the fun. :headache:

Hi all!! This is Claire, one of Sarah's sisters. I finally decided to come in and post. I have a couple things to add to some of what she has already said.

OK now I sound like I’m getting angry which really I’m not. The whole conversation was actually kind of amusing because after Naveen mentioned cheese, he and Tiana went back and forth naming different kinds of cheese. American. Swiss. Gouda. Cheddar. String. It was then that I think Naveen ran out of ideas because he said something about unstringed cheese to which Tiana said there was no such thing. Haha
I loved Tiana and Naveen's back and forth about cheese. So funny! I forgot that one of them mentioned string cheese. But I don't think I remember Naveen saying unstringed. I do, though, remember Tiana mentioning something about some kind of cheese dish that Naveen's mother had made. Naveen replied that he didn't remember that, because it must have been when he was away with Louis. Just another cute little in-character line. :goodvibes

Also, another thing I have to add here. As some of the other readers may know from Sarah talking about it, I was in Disney World in January with my parents. I met Tiana and Naveen then, too. Well, I am almost 100% positive that it was the same Naveen both times. I looked at the two pictures to compare, and he looks way too similar to not be the same one. I'll post the picture from January for you to look at and compare for yourself.

100_6456.jpg

So, anybody else's thoughts? Does it look like the same Naveen to you?

But anyway, overall, I loved the Tiana and Naveen meet and greet. They are definitely my favorite new characters. I love how they take the time to talk to everybody the same way, even if you're not a little kid. And they stay in character so well. :thumbsup2 Hopefully Disney keeps them around for a long time.

Normally I love Space Mountain—it’s one of my favorite rides but that time it was almost painful. I don’t know if it was because of the sun/heat but I had SUCH a pounding headache that every time we’d turn or drop my head was practically throbbing. That was not fun. On the bright side atleast we got to use the fastpasses!

Even though the show is more designed for kids (maybe?) we still get a kick out of it. Some of the people who get picked on are hilarious. Take, for example, Donna. The show was going along nicely when one of the monsters chooses this lady to participate in his act. Donna was an older lady and I don’t think she really had any idea what was going on. She appeared up on the screen and was just kind of looking around (everywhere but at the screen) until finally her son says, “Mom, that’s you!” This was the monster who tells a guest to choose a number and he will magically be able to guess it. He started asking her questions about her number and such but her answers made no sense at all. Maybe one of my sisters can help tell the story better since I can’t seem to remember but everyone was cracking up. Overall it was a great show. Part of what makes it so fun is that every time it’s different.
I felt the exact same way on Space Mountain that day. It must have been a combination of the heat and the fact that we hadn't eaten lunch yet, because it was a painful ride. :headache:

Okay, let's see what I remember from the Monsters, Inc. show with Donna. I remember them asking her to say her number, which she did. But then after the monster uncovered his eyes (LOL) and asked her if she told the audience, she said the number out loud again. :lmao: And then there was the whole part with trying to get her to put her hands up like antennae, which took forever, because she didn't understand what they wanted her to do. :rotfl2: So yeah, that's what I remember. She was so funny.

Nice updates. Sounds like a fun meet-and-greet with Tiana and Naveen. I think the only things most people down here know about Wisconsin is cheese and the Packers, and since it would be a little out of character for most of the characters to bring up football, I guess they stick with cheese. It does work for Tiana and Naveen though since they're in the restaurant business.

How cool that Emma got picked for Monsters Inc. It's a fun little show, though I'm with you- I'm always afraid that I'll be picked for it.

That is true, it would be sort of weird to mention something like the Packers.

Yeah, I don't know why, I just don't want to be shown up on the big screen. Though I guess I would prefer that than being picked on for one of the acts. :scared1:

Great update! I was on a mission a month or two ago to find "Celebrate You" by Corbin Bleu to put on my Ipod and for some reason I couldn't find it! Then you just mentioned it so I looked on Itunes and it's there so I have to download it! I love that song! :cool1:

The parade looks cute! Tiana and Naveen sound like fun, I think I'm going to try to meet them in November! I really love Tiana's dress!

I'm happy you finally got to ride Space Mountain! :) And those castle pictures are beautiful! :lovestruc

LOL, glad you found it! I actually downloaded it for free after the Christmas parade a couple years ago. He performed it during the parade and then they said you could get it off the website. Love that song. :thumbsup2

I hope you get to meet them...they were so much fun!

I loved your meet with Tianna and Naveen. I totally want to meet them, but since it was just my boys this last trip they had zero interest. Hopefully sometime soon I can talk my DD into meeting them with me. I like Monsters Inc too. We've had some great people get picked, especially to be "that guy."

I am so glad we waited to meet Tiana and Naveen. It was one of those "new" things that I couldn't resist.

I have the music to that parade too, but I always seem to miss it or I'm somewhere just off of main street like heading into Tomorrowland or on the PeopleMover, or leaving the park...Grrr!! We met Tiana/Naveen too and I have to agree that it was a top notch character interaction!!

Aww, bummer you keep missing it. Maybe next time. I wonder how long they'll keep that parade around? Cool you had a good meet with Tiana and Naveen too!

Haha, Sarah .. CORBIN BLEU!!! You know that I just had to check out that song on YouTube ... it really is a great song! A very fun song that's perfect for the parks!

It is so fun for the parks. Perfectly Disney.

hahaha, that is great that you think of Marquette now when you hear WI. :rotfl: I guarantee there are not many people who would think that! I guess I have trained you well. ;) Or maybe I just mention my school too much.

Aww, hopefully on your Feb. trip you'll get a good interaction. We've only had a couple...when I met the fairies a couple years ago and then another one this trip which I'll mention later on in the TR. popcorn::

I know, I felt so bad for the kid. It was like they were at the front of the line and the dad was determined to ride. Hopefully the kid made it afterwards!

The one bad thing about Space Mountain is that it isn't as smooth a ride as some of the newer rides like Everest. It's still a classic though and I love it. But that time I just couldn't wait for it to be over my head was pounding so bad. :headache:

I agree, I would be so embarrassed to have to do one of the talking things. I hate being the center of attention.

Maybe instead of the Just Engaged buttons you could get the "I'm Celebrating" buttons this time. haha! But I think it'd be ok to wear them. :thumbsup2

Maybe I'll have to swallow my fear and check it out sometime!

haha, it's ok. Atleast you didn't say beer!

YES, you should go to the show sometime! It's hilarious!

:rotfl:

haha, that song is so catchy, especially that beginning part!

Ooh, I can't wait to hear about the show you went to with Kristen and Chris. Funny you were on the screen with the other guy!

Finally all caught up!!! Loving the update and great pics!!! We had the same Tiana and Naveen when we were in the park that Friday! I thought she was very pretty and Naveen was funny. They played the role great.

I agree, Tiana was so pretty and I love her dress. Both of them were so in character. That's cool you had the same people we did!

The Monsters show is so fun. Ooh, if your sister is always picked on then who knows, maybe you guys will get up there!

Would you believe me if I said I've never even seen That '70s Show? :rolleyes1 I've only seen the very end of a couple episodes if it's on before something else I'm watching. I was really surprised when I found out it took place in WI!

We've had some pretty funny people too. I wonder how they manage to do that.

Yup, we had a lot of fun in the MK just like always. :goodvibes

I loved our meet with Tiana and Naveen.

Ugh, that headache was bad. Though I think it was worse one time when we rode Dinosaur on another trip. The combination of the bumpiness AND the loud was awful. :scared1:

Great updates! I love the pics of the castle that Emma got! :goodvibes That's too bad that you had a headache on SM; definitely spoils the fun. :headache:

Emma did get some great shots. :thumbsup2

YAY, you finally decided to post! Please post more in case I forget something. :flower3:

I think you are right about the Naveen being the same as in January.

I was wondering if you had a headache too because at lunch we were both popping aspirin. :rotfl:

I wish I could remember more about the Monsters show because that lady was hysterical. I kind of felt bad for her since she seemed kind of clueless.

Sarah, were you there the time I was on the screen at the Monsters show as "Mike Wazowski...with one i" so I had to close one of my eyes whenever they showed me?

Sarah, were you there the time I was on the screen at the Monsters show as "Mike Wazowski...with one i" so I had to close one of my eyes whenever they showed me?

haha, yeah, I remember that. When was that? When we went in December a couple years ago? :confused3

Great updates. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to meet Tiana and Naveen. I sure hope that we are able to.

Thanks! Only 4 days for you, lucky!

Sorry I'm joining in late-I must have missed the memo!

Happy Friday everyone!

First off, I have some good news. I got a job!!! I interviewed yesterday morning and they called me back in the afternoon to offer me the position!!! It’s actually an aide position instead of a regular classroom teacher but WHO CARES! I have spent the last 2 years substitute teaching and let’s just say I’m pretty sick of it…phone calls at 5:30 in the morning are not fun. I’m just happy because it’s at the elementary level which is what I want to teach anyway and it’s for the WHOLE year.

Congratulations on the job!

August 8, 2010 cont'd (part 2) Southwest has a funny way of boarding. They don’t give you assigned seats like most airlines. Instead they give you a boarding position and you have to line up by these poles according to your position. It doesn’t really matter for us since we’re older but it can be kind of a hassle for families with small kids.

We got lucky with our A boarding positions. I told my mom that if we got separated it wouldn't be an issue because we're both adults, but she wasn't having that!

This is where our flight gets interesting. I keep talking about how we had the best flight attendant ever.

We love Southwest. We've never had a problem with the flight itself and we have had very good luck with the flight attendants.

But seriously who wears their name on their t-shirt?! LOL.

*Raises hand* I do. The matching shirts we had made have our names on them.

We FINALLY made our way to the Disney Welcome Center to get the Magical Express. Always one of the best parts of the trip. We were able to get right in line and it was only a matter of minutes before we were on one of these:

I love having minimal waits for ME buses!

Sunday, August 8, 2010 cont'd (part 3)

I was really hoping we’d get on one of the “real” ME buses this trip since in April we got one of the cruise buses. I know it doesn’t really matter but I like the official ME buses better. I guess it makes it more official.

Yes, I agree that the "real" ME buses make it more official, and I was upset that we were on a cruise bus. However, I have seen TRs where people have been on plain old Mears buses, so even a cruise bus trumps that!

It’s just not quite the same driving under the archway when it’s raining.

Agreed. Though in '07 when we went it was too dark to see the archway. In fact, I probably didn't even know there was an archway. :sad2:

Before long I could see the best sight out in the distance. Yes, the archway! It was pretty funny because as we were approaching the sun did start to peek out a little bit (and there wasn’t any rain either). Not the greatest picture but at least I tried.

45247_653127859574_20305212_37400143_3585352_n.jpg

Yep, looks very similar to the picture in my TR.

As we continued down DVC Way the ME video was over but they showed a Donald Duck cartoon. Does anybody know when they started doing this? It is either within the last couple of months or I just have terrible memory because I don’t remember them doing that in April.

I believe we saw a cartoon like this in late May.

Finally we arrived at our building and found our room (6512!!).

Were you guys in a studio?

OLD KEY WEST!!!

Whoo hoo! That was one of our choices for next year's trip, as it's tied with BWV for cheapest. But I've heard that they offer limited bus service during certain hours of the day, and we really want to stay at an Epcot resort, so BCV it will be!

Monday, August 9, 2010
We woke up around 7:30ish to get to the park for opening at 9. When I got out of bed I had to look out the window. Nothing like seeing the resort first thing in the morning, especially on the first full day.

That was one of my favorite things to do at Kidani-open the curtains and see the fog, the buses picking people up, and watch the resort come alive.

We quickly ate our breakfast before heading out to our bus stop. Such a great location having it right across the street.

I loved the location of the Kidani stop. Down the hall, down the elevator, back down the hall, then outside! Such an improvement from our stay at All Star Music!

All trip long I couldn’t help but think that must be a pain in the you-know-what if you are staying at the Treehouse Villas. Having to go ALL the way through SSR and then transferring?!

One of my deterrents from staying at the Treehouses (aside from the facts that a)they are expensive and b)I don't think I'd ever find nine people to stay with!)

Before long they started making the announcements to move to the center of the Mickey floral because the Welcome Show would be beginning soon. It is so cheerful, so peppy, and so Disney. GREAT way to start off the morning! And come on, how can you not help but get a little choked up when the man says, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, WELCOME to the Magic Kingdom!”

The Welcome Show is so fun and makes me so excited to be there! I'm so glad I got to see it this trip!

I pretty much rocked on Buzz. The score to prove it…I believe that gave me the rank of Planetary Pilot.
46091_654460748454_20305212_37453499_5435251_n.jpg

OK maybe not as good as some people but good by my standards.
You should know that Emma usually doesn’t do all that well on Buzz Lightyear. Well, she must’ve hit one of the big targets because she ended up with over 100,000! Guess she had to take a picture to document that.
39233_1394057623894_1605780003_31167618_339317_n.jpg

Both of you did excellent compared to me and my mom.

Long story short, we did get the FPs but the cast member had to press that same button on the back of the machine to do it. So strange. Our morning sure was off to an interesting start.

How annoying!

Monday, August 9, 2010 cont'd (part 3)

Claire’s other reason for wanting to see it was that she said she likes hearing the “Celebrate You” song in the parks because she said it just makes you happy and want to dance.

I love that song, too! The day after I found out we were going to be able to make it to Disney, I downloaded a bunch of songs and made a mix titled "We're Going to Disney!" and that was definitely on there!

Naveen asked us if we had ever heard of Maldonia, which is where he is from. Since I’ve seen the movie I said yes. He asked if I knew where it was, which I didn’t ;) but I did learn from Tiana that you can get there by hopping across lilypads or by riding on the back of an alligator. :)

After our lovely conversation we posed for our picture. I think it turned out pretty cute!

tiana.jpg

We said good-bye and thank you before continuing on our way. Such a fun meet and I am so glad we waited. I especially enjoyed Naveen because he talked exactly like he does in the movie (kind of self-absorbed at times) and he had his mannerisms down—he would change his pose/facial expression for every single picture which was hilarious. That was definitely one of my favorite parts of our trip!

I really enjoyed Tiana and Naveen-the Tiana you met is definitely the same one I met, and I think we may have had the same Naveen, too!

Sorry I'm joining in late-I must have missed the memo!

I really enjoyed Tiana and Naveen-the Tiana you met is definitely the same one I met, and I think we may have had the same Naveen, too!

That's alright, I'm still only on our first day. Thanks for all your comments!

Cool you met the same Tiana/Naveen! They were great! :thumbsup2

Monday, August 9, 2010 cont'd (part 4)

Having accomplished all we had wanted to do at the Magic Kingdom we said good-bye for the time being (we’d most likely be going back that evening for the Main Street Electrical Parade and fireworks!). A few more random shots from the way out:

One of the new things that Dad and I did on our April trip was take advantage of the Disney Visa meet and greet over at Epcot. I really wanted to do it again—after all, who can resist a free photo? I mentioned it to my sisters and even though I think Emma wanted to go back to the room instead, they both agreed. Atleast we’d get a monorail ride out of it! We took the express monorail back to the TTC and transferred to the Epcot loop.

MONORAIL!!! Emma's favorite. :)
40186_1394061063980_1605780003_31167647_1273956_n.jpg

Oh how I miss the days of riding monorails to and from the parks. I miss hearing the whole spiel and all the references to Bay Lake, the Seven Seas Lagoon and the MK resorts. I don’t know, there’s just something about it that makes it part of the Disney experience. Good times.

Once we were at the TTC it didn’t take too long for a monorail to come whisk us away to Epcot. The best part of the Epcot loop is the mini tour of the park you get as you circle back around to the station. Ahh, I just love it and how it helps build the excitement. And from the looks from above on the “highway in the sky” the park didn’t look too busy either.

After getting our bags checked we stopped to get a couple photopass pictures taken in front of Spaceship Earth and take the typical SSE picture.

As we got closer to SSE, we spotted Daisy Duck so we had to stop to get another picture. It is really funny because I remember for the longest time Daisy Duck was NOWHERE to be found in the parks. The only time you’d ever see her was during the parades. Seriously, our first trip was in 1991 and I remember the first time we got to actually meet Daisy was in 2005. It was at Hollywood Studios (err, MGM back then…) and I was so surprised! I am pretty sure Dad and Emma were on a ride but Claire and I got to meet Daisy. Sorry for that little tidbit but it’s just strange how now it’s a lot easier to find her. Crazy!

When we got up near the attractions board and Fountain of Nations we checked out the waits for the rides. Nothing was really all that bad…in fact, I think Soarin might’ve still had some fastpasses left. But our destination was Innoventions to get our Visa photo!

It was nice because when we got to the meet and greet location there were only two other families in line so we didn’t have to wait long at all. If you’ve never done the Visa meet and greet before, all you have to do is show your Visa card and they write down how many people you have in your group. Then they give you a voucher to pick up your photo. When it was our turn, the cast member said, “I have a surprise for you” or something like that. Now, since Dad and I did it in April, I was expecting to see Mickey and another character (we met Mickey and Pluto in April). When we got inside the area, we were greeted by not just Mickey, but Minnie and Goofy as well! THREE CHARACTERS! Minnie came up to me and started pointing to my bag. I thought she liked it and almost asked her but then the attendant said to put it on the floor. Oh. Yes, I am a little slow. See, that is the nice thing about the Visa meet and greet. They really take their time and you don’t have to rush at all! Once we all put our bags on the floor they took a whole group picture.

They took a couple and I thought that would be it, but no. Then they asked if we wanted to do them all separately! So we all got individual pictures too. So cool. When it was my turn, I was standing next to Goofy. Minnie walked by measuring us because we were in order from tallest to shortest. We looked like a human (human/character?) staircase. Overall another great experience. We said thank you and then set out to kill some time before we’d be able to pick up our picture. And what attraction did we visit to help kill some time? Ellen’s Energy Adventure, of course!

I can’t remember if it was before or after Ellen that we went into Club Cool to get some free soda. We sampled a few different sodas each. I saw one younger girl trying the Beverly. I don’t know if she took a huge sip or what but her face was pretty funny. It almost took her a while to realize it was nasty before quickly dumping out the rest of her cup. Haha Because I saw her trying it, I decided I might as well go ahead and give it a shot. See, I had never before tasted it myself. I just always read about how it is so gross. There was one trip where I made my sisters try it but I didn’t. I know, evil of me. I figured before I can claim it’s gross myself I better sample it. So I got myself another cup, filled it up and took a sip. Mmm, yummy. No, just kidding. It wasn’t as horrible as I thought it might be but definitely not good either. But atleast now I can say I’ve tried it! :)

We also wandered through Mouse Gear, trying to stay in as much air conditioning as possible. Eventually we made it to the Universe of Energy.

The CM said it would be 8 minutes before the next show so it wasn’t too bad of a wait. I know it is kind of a “boring” attraction but Ellen makes it entertaining. I love some of her lines (“Stupid Judy” and “A piggy bank?!” are my personal favorites) and mannerisms.

By the time we finished our Energy Adventure we were able to go pick up our picture at the camera center. We gave the CM our voucher and she was able to pull up all of our pictures. I think there must’ve been atleast dozen since they did all the individual ones too. It’s nice to be able to look through them all and pick out the best one. The CMs offer their opinions too and help point out if there are closed eyes and help crop the pictures too. We finally decided on our picture and the CM printed it out for us. Mission accomplished.

Since we knew we’d be back at Epcot later in the week we decided to go take a break for the afternoon.

Here's another random shot that I remember taking but don't know what we were doing out near WS. Hmm. How pathetic am I?

Up next: Did the weather hold out for the MSEP?

nice pics!! I have never done the character meet as well! Is it usually busy?? Where's it at? We've been to one near Innoventions and I thought that, that was the one for the Visa people but we stood in line for a while (this was a few years ago!) I'll have to check out the specific Disney Visa one when we're there in Oct!!

Awesome that you got 3 characters at the Visa Meet 'n Greet. We only had 2 last time we went as well. You are so right about Ellen's Energy Adventure being a great place to kill some time:rotfl: Plus it's air conditioned and sometimes that is enough! Hope you get to see the MSEP.
