Ok, so I'm checking out prices from stl to mco on october 22 on southwest and I notice now I can only get 2 tickets at the $131 price b/c if I put in 5 people the price goes up to $150 so if I make 3 seperate reservations 2/2/1 at the same time will I get the $131 price for all of us? Is it a big deal 2 have 3 seperate reservations for my family of 5? I would like for us to sit together 3/2 but its okay if its 2/2 and dad sits alone. Will I be able to get the 131 price if I do it this way or is will it change on me at the last minute and be a major hassle? This is thru southwest and we never fly so the credit in price if I just book the $150 means nothing to us. Is this hassle worth saving $100?

Coming home I can purchase 131 tickets for all 5 of us at the same time.

No. And no.

There are likely only two seats available at $131. Your first reservation will be for two seats at that price. Then make a second reservation. If those three tickets come up at $150, you'll end up with just two reservations.

No, it's not a 'big' deal to have separate reservations for a family, especially on Southwest (which rarely cancels/changes flights) except during bad weather when your party may get reassigned to different flights.

THanks for the reply. Someone had posted on another website to pull open different tabs and have everything filled out and enter all the info at the same time to get the cheaper price....but in order to do that I would have to do 2/2/1. I wasn't sure if that really worked or not. Maybe I should just do the 2/3 and at least save 40 bucks. Last night I was able to put in 5 seats for the cheaper price but today can only get 2.

I am in the middle of this right now.. I book 4 at 124 and now I can't book anymore at that price.. it will be 174.. I still have not booked the other 4 hoping it will come down... but its been a week!!!! I am thinking I might just book the flights and split the cost as its with another family.. I did try with 2 computers.. my husband I did it at the same time.. his went and worked mine said no more flights at that price.. kinda sucks!!!

Won't work, although the pricing may be the same, when it actually goes to purchase the tickets it will see that the ticket class/rate attempting to be purchased is no longer available and depending on the site, advise you to search again or provide you with the next best rate available.

If you're going to book multiple groups of tickets, make sure you have at least one adult with each child in case you need to be rebooked (equipment change, weather, delays, etc.). This way if the reservations are booked on different flights at least each child will have an adult with them.

I did this with Delta due to the fact I had travel vouchers, not due to price. I made 3 reservations for 4 people (2 adults 2 children) after I made the reservation I called Delta and they "linked" our tickets together (even though I have 3 different confirmation #'s) That way it doesnt look like there is a child traveling by himself. She was also able to move my seats around so we are all sitting together. Easy as pie :) Good luck!

well, since I tend to obsess over minor details I bit the bullet and went ahead and purchased the 131 tickets for all 5 of us on a flight 3 hours later than the one in question. I got scared prices would go up even more than I had originally planned. For all 5 of us I just paid $1417 and I had originally "planned" on $1200. Back when we flew in 08 I got nonstop flights for all 5 of us for $870! The only thing that sucks is we are at least 2 1/2 hours from any major airport. Stuck in between Indy, St. Louis, and Louisville.

Well, at least that's over with....not to just convince myself not to check everyday to see if prices have changed!

We are closest to Louisville but I chose to drive 2 1/2 hrs to Cincinatti to catch a nonstop flight:yay: Glad you got your tickets either way!

Since you booked with Southwest, if you might be able to use credits by the time they would expire, if it does go down you can change the flights and get credit for future trips!

If you won't be flying before credits would expire, however, don't check.
