Sorry for another "pregnant" thread but I've looked all through the boards and am not sure what to do in this situation!

We are going to WDW for our birthdays in 9 days, DS will be turning 7 during the trip. He and I both big fans of the "thrill" rides, but I've seen the list of rides to avoid while pregnant and most of them are on there. I have also read several posts from pregnant ladies who have ridden almost everything while pg with no problems.

My problem is, should I send him on the rides alone? I can wait with him up til he gets on and hopefully be right there when he gets off. But if there is a breakdown or emergency evacuation, he would be pretty scared I think. Should I just go ahead and ride? I definitely will not be going on Space (closed), ToT, RnR or Splash. Zak's FAVE rides are Test Track and Star Tours though so I am thinking about going on those... I will be 13.5 to 15 weeks when we go and this is not a high risk pregnancy or anything.

DH just can't get off work (and is also not a big WDW fan, plus is not on our MYW tix or free dining) though if I had known I would be pg when I paid for the trip, I might've made him go! :rolleyes1

Help! What should I do?

honestly, I wouldn't do the ride. In star tours esp. even if there were a problem they'd just open the door. I'd take the opportunity to talk to the folks next to ya in the star tours line; they'd probably be in there with him. I don't know anybody stuck for a really long time off of test track, either. I'd walk him through the scenarios so he was prepared and emphasize that he is growing up and has earned this privilege, and you'll be right there waiting for him at the end. The ride probably wouldn't cause a problem, but if something ever happened, even unrelated, I'd hate for you to always wonder, and him too... it just doesn't seem worth it imho.

Heck no!! I wouldn't take the risk of the thrill rides. Not only would it be the turns, bumps and bashes but you have to worry about the g force.

I would definitely not take any chances with the rides. I know for me, I would never forgive myself it something happened with the pregnancy and would always wonder if that were the reason. There is so much to do at Disney, you and your DS will have so much fun even without the "thrill" rides. I would take it easy this trip and save the other rides for another trip! Have a great time!

I have to agree with the previous posters. I'm 9 weeks pg and had my appt with the nurse last week and one of the things she mentioned was no thrill rides when we go to Disney in Novermber. I would never ever take the chance anyway. The warnings are posted for a reason. As for sending your son on alone, I would think if you can wait with him until he is ready to enter the attraction and be right there waiting for him at the end, evertything should be fine. I personally would be a little nervous though sending a 7 yr old on a ride alone......

There's a good reason OBs tell you not to ride roller coasters pregnant! :) While odds are in your favor that nothing would happen, think about how you would feel if it did.

Have you aked your DS how he would feel about riding alone? He might surprise you.

Thank you for your responses. I guess I *know* I won't really ride any of the thrill rides, but sure WISH I could and know that everything would still be ok. The worry alone that something bad might have resulted isn't worth 2-5 minutes of excitement... I do hope my son won't be too nervous to go on his favorite rides alone, and I do plan to wait with him all through the line until he gets on. Its a good idea to try to get in line by someone who looks friendly or maybe has a boy Zak's age, maybe he'd be more willing to go by himself. We have a lot of other good stuff planned, like La Nouba, the Halloween Party, Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise...Chip and Dale campfire movie...and there are so many other rides and shows. Hopefully he won't miss out too much! popcorn::

Good luck! I was pregnant with my third pregnancy for our last trip, (lost my second) so I did absolutely no rides, just in case. You know, they have been calling WDW the happiest place on Earth since it opened almost, and they hardly had any real "thrill" rides in the beginning. People have been returning yearly for some reason and never once got on some of those rides. Believe me, if you dont spend your time waiting in all the ride lines, think about what you actually might see this time that you may have missed before!

I have a six year old, who is a big sissy, and would never ride the rides, so we took the parks slow and watched all the street entertainments the shows etc and I can't tell you how much fun we had. It was much better than when my husband and I went trying to mad dash it to every ride just to wait and mad dash to the next one. We actually saw what the park was about. It is meant to be fun in so many different ways that I think you won't even notice you missed out on some of the bigger rides.

Good luck again, enjoy yourself and your son while he's still 7 and loves being around you, I bet it will be a blast!

The last time I went to Disney in Jan 08 I was 15 wks pregnant and it was me and my daughter who was 4. She was still too young for any of the thrill rides (which I wouldn't have done) although I did do Goofy's Barnstormer and the Safari at Animal Kingdom with her. I can't do motion rides so I have no idea what Star Tours is like. I will say if you go on the safari (which it says not to if pregnant) try to get a seat in the middle of the vehicle and stay away from the back as it is even more bumpy back there.
