I will get my third set of magic bands for our upcoming trip. Can I use all of them for this trip. Can I match my outfits? Will my tickets and FP+ be on all 3 bands?
Al three are completely interchangeable if they are linked to your MDX account, which is where all your Disney information (tickets, onsite reservations, FPs, etc.) lives.
We only brought four sets last trip. We changed color based on our clothes and our mood. They all worked fine. The only problem we encountered was when my boys played Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. They brought a different set of bands the second day and were told the game was linked to the band. They had to start a new game. I don't know if it has changed since last summer.
Do you have to notify the resort checkin cast member that you will be using multiple magic bands, or are they always active, unless you deactivate them on the website?
Do you keep all magic bands active? Or do you active/inactivate depending on which one you are using that day. I want to use two different ones, I inactivated my old one thinking it would mess something up when I got my new one in the mail, if I reactivate this one will I be able to wear either one and my ticket and room key will still work?
There is no reason to deactivate any magic band unless you throw it away or lose it. Their always connected to your MDE no matter how many you have and are interchangeable
I kind of doubt the accuracy of this.. but I was told by a CM at Pop that having too many magic bands will cause issues with some things. Namely, being able to open your room door. He actually commented that we would probably need to deactivate some. I think we each have 5 or 6? Of course, he was trying to figure out why our bands would not open our door at the time..
We will have two sets for our upcoming trip(6 total between all of us) and was wondering the same. I assume they would be interchangeable. However the room "key" aspect of it is the only thing that throws me off slightly. But I guess if the Check-in desk activates your account and not the band itself, it would make sense that you can use all of them.
I have 9 and they have all behaved perfectly fine. They are all active, and I show them ONE band at checkin and ALL of them have worked for all purposes. Including getting in the room.

This is apparently accurate as we have hit the max bands for room opening functionality. We each have approx 20 bands and while my band opened the room door today, no matter what they did the kids would not. The answer finally came down that having anymore than 7 (obviously it is higher than 7 really) makes them form some sort of communications loop where they cannot retrieve the data to open the door. Whatever the issue it is just with the room key portion as the bands worked fine for room charge, park tickets and fast passes.
Their solution was to deactivate all but the current bands and that fixed the issue.
Good To know. The last three times we stayed on property, our bands (not new ones) would not open the door initially. Finally we got that explanation, which just sounded like a bs excuse. Thankfully that was the only issue we had with them, but not being able to get in your room at 1am after a full day in the park isn't fun.
Im off to deactivate a bunch of bands!
