Just returned from a week long vacation w/ our DS4 and DS1 and my brother/wife and their 2 kids age 4.5 and 2.

The 1st day my niece left her princess bear on the couch in the lobby when they arrived at WL. My DH noticed it and told my sil but they forgot it anyway. They noticed 2 days later and called the hotel and they had it. :goodvibes

My DS4 has a little dog that he's held onto and carried EVERYWHERE for 3.5yrs. We've only lost him 1 time and that was in a rarely used drawer in the house for 2 weeks! Well we went to the Contemporary for DH to do some business and DS and I went to the Arcade there. While we were exchanging his coupons for his trinkets he must have set it down. I noticed it missing while on the boat back so I knew where it must have been. We called the hotel lost and found the next day and they did not have it :sad2: . I knew it was there!!!!! The day before we left I said I had to go back and look myself since I KNEW where we must have left him and MAYBE he was lost in the dark arcade. I asked at the counter in the arcade and the guy knew exactly what I was talking about and had it!! I almost cried.

This little dog has a dog collar and ID w/ our 2 cell #'s and WL Villas written on it!! Why no one called I don't know?? Oh well. So if you lose something and called lost and found and they say they don't have it don't despair. I think they must hold things at the original location for a while before sending it to officail lost and found.

While at MK MNSSHP DS1 had a floppy dog he sleeps w/ tied with a water bottle lanyard around it's neck and hook onto the stroller. We noticed it gone and was not willing to retrace our steps. The lanyard velcro's in 1 spot and figured it must have gotten pulled off on the ground/stroller or n somehting. We reported it to Guest Relations and they said it had not been returned at park closing and anything found that night will go to the official lost and found at the TTC. I called when we got home the next day and still no luck. They take down your info and will actively look for it for 7 days and mail it back.

So..just wanted to let you know about our experience and hope this does ot happen to anyone else. Wish us luck w/ baby's little dog :sad2:

I share a similar story!

I lost my CEL PHONE TWICE at Disney World. The first time, I forgot where we found it. I think I lost it somewhere at Epcot. The second time, I lost it at the bus loading area on a bench. The guy behind the window who gave out information regarding the busses had it.

To the 2 people(s) who returned my MUCH NEEDED cel phone, THANK YOU!

This encouraged my belief that while we're all sinners, people can do some reallllly nice things. I mean, where else, other than Disney, would a lost phone turn up? Disney goers are the best!

We just returned and I lost my phone 2x on vacation too! Both times my DH called it and the CMs answered it and let him know where to pick it up. Big thanks to the great people who turned it in! I hope your baby's little dog turns up! :goodvibes

NOT that losing other material items isn't frustrating, but losing a priceless item such as a child' lovie is just heartbreaking!
The very first trip to WDW that we took, my DS was 4. He lost his blanket that the carried EVERYWHERE...
It was just so sad.

Thanks Minniebeth. Yes a cell phone or something is very frustrating but a child's most prized possession is a bit different.

Well I got the mail and guess what!!!! DS's lost puppy was in a package!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc The lanyard was missing so I guess the person that stole that had some sort of decency to turn in the dog...or maybe someone else did :confused3

anyway. I greatly appreciate getting it back!!! The WDW lost and found team was great. Thanks Frank!!!

I was so excited when I read that you got it MAILED back! What a miracle! :Pinkbounc SO happy for you! There is a book written for older children called the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo, and it is about a child's favorite lost bunny finding it's way back to her.
I thought of this when I read your post.
Again, so happy for you!

First of all, I'm happy that all three precious articles were found and returned. You were very lucky!

But a couple of things I want to point out - why do people assume someone has stolen the item they have carelessly misplaced? Why would someone want a lanyard that's been dragging on a stuffed dog?

And the big question - why do parents let their kids bring their most precious possessions all around WDW? The stuff is going to get lost, sooner or later, and it's not always returned to lost and found. Then, the parents get upset because no one can find the lovey, someone must have stolen it, why doens't someone find it for us, etc.

We never allowed our kids to bring anything they couldn't live without somewhere where it could get forgotten and lost. Stuffed animals had to remain in the room, placed carefully in a chair (not tumbled in the bedding) to wait for us to return. Never lost one precious lovey with that policy.

I'm not trying to pick a tiff here ;)
I agree that a lovey should be protected when it is that precious.
However, a long and sometimes overwhelming day at Disney for a child calls for the security item that they need most.
They (the security items )become "part of the family" and want to see the World too.... :)
I'm sure many parents would agree that when your child is that attached, it comes along. Responsible or not, it is heartbreaking when it is lost, that's all!

The lanyard would have to have been manually removed. It was the water bottle type with the laso end and was cinched tight around the neck. Impossible on this style animal to open so large it could have slipped off. If it was damaged in some way WDW would have returned it as it was found so someone did remove it before turning in the dog. Why would anyone want a Disney lanyard? Hum..don't know? Why does anyone steal anything??

I actually have a 2nd of the same dog at home as a back up so to me it was no big deal..more sentimental to me. I was more upset than the baby. We bought him a new stuffed animal and he squeezed it just as tightly.

I did not expect it to be found for us. DH was sure we'd never see it again. In the 'real world' I would agree but in WDW I think the odds are better in lost items being returned. I gave them our info and hoped for the best.
