I know most rides have a height requirement but is there an age requirement for riding in a seat alone? For our upcoming trip we will have 2 adults and 3 children ages 6, 8 and 11. Our 3rd adult backed out. Has anyone had experience with this and will they allow the 8 and 11 to ride together on things like Nemo or Splash Mountain? TIA

You'll be fine. I was riding splash mountain alone at like 9 years old ;) I even rode RnR alone at the same age. The only thing I know has height requirement for riding alone is the tomorrowland speedway. But I think an 11 year old will make the cut :)

EDIT: I think you have to be 6 to ride alone on the Haunted Mansion

Thanks, I know she wouldn't have a problem with it, just wasn't sure about Disney. This is our first trip where the kids out number the adults, so I've never really thought about it before.

I've had this same thought. I'm traveling alone with my 5,8 and 10 year olds. Obviously I will have to ride with the 5 year old in most things. Here's hoping the 5 year old likes roller coasters :rolleyes1

Disney wouldn't have a problem with the 11 year old, assuming that's the one that would ride alone.

I believe under 7 must ride with someone 14 or over. In your case, you should be fine as the 11 or 8 year old kids can both ride alone. I also think this applies to all rides, but I'm not 100% certain.

Edited to specify Under 7 not 7 and under.

I believe the rules say that 7 year olds can ride alone, but they must be with someone 14 or older to enter the parks.

Once they are 7 they can sit alone to ride. Cast members that arrange people for loading will typically ask the kids how old they are.

We just returned from a trip with 2 adults (A) and 3 kids (K) (10, 7, 7) The twins rode on several rides by themselves, but mostly the more tame rides. The 10 year old also rode several rides by herself.

On the more thrill rides (RnR, Splashm BTMRR, EE) it was 1A and 1K-7, 2K- 10 & 7 together, and then the other adult.

One the calmer rides (Buzz, Dumbo, etc.) sometime the 10 yo would ride by herself, and then 1A would ride with each of the 7 year olds. Or the 7 yo's would ride together.

Sometimes CM's asked how old each kid was, and I was nervous when the 10yo and 7yo rode together but they never told us to change it up. So as long I think no matter how you change up your seating you should be fine. (Unless you get a strict CM.)

The 6 year old will have to ride with one of the adults. The other two can ride with whoever they want, or alone if they like.

I believe the official rule is that if you are under 7 you have to ride with someone older than 14. If you are 7 or older you can ride alone. So in your situation, the 5 year old always has to be with an adult, but the other two kids could either ride together or one could ride with an adult or alone. Just be careful with the kids riding alone...on some rides (RNR, EE, 7DMT to name a few) they WILL match uneven riders, so if your child chooses to ride alone, they will really be riding with a stranger. While it is perfectly fine, and your kids would still be in the same ride car as you, it may be something to consider if it is not within your child's or your comfort level.

WE have three kids and while we like to travel with Grandma or Grandpa we don't always. Our ride arrangement for rides that only sit two people would be the two older kids, the younger kid with one adult and one adult rides alone. Nemo is a three person ride. Splash - the 5 of you will sit in the boat together, Space Mountain is 3 people per car, Haunted Mansion you can do 3 per buggy. I might avoid the Speedway unless you think the 11 year old will be fine to ride alone - the other two will likely need an adult in the car.

Children 7 and older can ride without an adult. The 8 and 11 year olds can ride together because they are both over age 7. But the 5 year old would need to ride with an adult. So if you want to you can put the 2 kids together and have a parent ride in the single seat. There are only 3 rides with a single rider line but some rides like 7DMT they may be just trying to put a butt in all the seats, so they'll seat someone else with the odd person.

:hyper:The 6 year old will ALWAYS ride with an adult even if Disney allowed it. Can't take our eyes off of that one for a second. For the rest of the two seat rides, we will let the 8 and 11 year old ride together and I will ride alone or with another single rider. Thanks everyone. I can stop worrying about it.
