3 hrs from Boston Vermont or RI Trip?

My sisters and I are going to go somewhere tomorrow. last minute trip. We woudl like to go somewhere different. We were thinking somewhere in Vermont or RI about three hours away. We were hoping for a relaxing beach and/or lots of shopping and things to see. We will have two preteens with us. Anyone know of any place to go with a nice hotel maybe a resort type hotel? Thank you.

We are fans of the Equinox in Manchester. My sister is a fan of Porches in North Adams MA. Machester is near outlet shopping. Porches is near a lot or museums, theaters dance, music and small town boutique shopping.

Newport RI has beaches, shopping, mansion tours... you can take a walk along the cliff walk which has the back of mansions on one side and the ocean on the other. Just make sure you stay on the path

Newport RI!!! It is our 2nd place to visit (after WDW if course)

It has exactly what you are looking for. Tons of shopping, great beaches, mansion tours, boat tours, excellent restaurants and beautiful hotels & Inns. When we visit with the kids we like to stay at Hotel Viking. Without the kids we love the Fransis Melborn House or their sister Inn, Hilltop Inn. We were just there in April & we love the whole atmosphere & great people there.

If you never went to Burlington, VT. This time of year it is very beautiful. There are beaches on the lake, bring your bikes if you can there is a bike trail that goes along the waterfront. Do a google.....
