Hi, my name is Shawn, and I am the guy of the three girls and a guy and the world report. Let me give you the starting details, so you can know the cast.

Shawn-(Me) 41 years old, loves Disney, and I am proud to say I am the planner of the family. My wife however just calls me a control freak. That's okay with me, as long as we follow my plan. My favorite character is the mouse himself, Mickey.

Kristy-(My wife) 30 years old, loves Disney, but not as much as me. Tinkerbell is her favorite character.

Paula-(Graduate) 18 years old and a nut. She was one of my youth when I was a youth pastor, also a Disney 1st timer. Her favorite character is Piglet.

Kacie-(girl #3) 17 years old, also one of my youth, and she also is in my band 5 Stones. Her favorite character is Goofy, and she is also a 1st timer.

Some people might ask why I decided to go to Disney with 3 girls........ I can't honestly give you an answer..... Maybe a lack of intelligence at the moment of planning? Or maybe my mind was clouded with visions of Mickey bars.
All kidding aside, we knew that this might be their one chance to get to go to Disney before they were adults with problems and worries of their own, plus my wife and I wanted to share our love of Disney with someone.
So sit back, relax, and I hope you enjoy 3 Girls, 1 Guy, and the World

Day 1 Life's a Beach
will be completed later today with pics.

Signing on! I often say trip reports and pictures are what keep me sane until my next Disney trip. Thanks for your contribution to my sanity.:thumbsup2

Looking forward to reading all about your Disney adventures.

Day 1 Sept. 3rd: Life's a beach and a long highway!

Okay, so I worked on the second, actually got home a few minutes before midnight. I thought I would be able to come in, say hi to the girls and we would all go to sleep. I was excited, but I knew we had a very early morning ahead of us, and I would need ample sleep to be ready for my 8 hour drive. When I walked in the front door, it hit me like a ton of bricks.... These girls, and my wife included, were not ready for sleep, but it seemed to me they were literally bouncing off the walls with Disney excitement for a moment I thought about leaving then.
Finally, at 3 am we were asleep, with an alarm set for 6 am..... Okay, so I hit the snooze A LOT make that 7:30 am. When we woke, bleary eyed, we loaded the truck and set off on our journey. The plan was to spend the night in Pensacola at the Motel 6. I had reservations, and Tom Bodett said he would leave the light on, so I knew we were in good hands. :thumbsup2
The first day in the truck was loud and obnoxious from the time I put the key in the truck until we put our heads to pillow that night. The girls debated on who had the strictest mom, Paula wins, but more on that later in this report. We also played the ABC game where you start at the letter A, and find words on the passing billboards that start with that letter. We played about 4 times on this day, and I never won, but maybe driving and playing puts you at a disadvantage.:confused3 Not sure, but it did pass the time, well, that and snacks like beef jerky, cookies, and Dr. Pepper, we cannot forget the Dr. Pepper!
It wasn't long before we realized we had a burper on the trip. That's right, a full fledged gas blowing burper. We laughed at first when Paula, out of nowhere let one rip when it was silent in the truck.... Oh if I had known then what I know now. If it was a sport, she'd be an Olympian. She could put most drunken sailors, and Homer Simpson to shame.
When we got about 40 miles from Pensacola we stopped at a Florida visitor center where we used the restrooms, and got some free OJ. Ahhh, I love OJ, and for some reason it tastes better when you are on vacation in Florida.

I have a question.... What is obsession with jets on a stick in Florida? I mean it's cool and all, but how many does one state need? We saw many variations with different aircraft, and we just found it to be a bit weird. Cool job if you could be the man that sits in the cockpit though. Close to the restrooms and all the free OJ you could want.

Finally we reach the beach and instantly, all the stress and tiredness slipped away as we played in the surf and the sand. Here are a few photos during our stay in Pensacola. :cool2:

So, we all decided the beach fun made us hungry and we decided to head to Hooters for some wings and crab legs. The girls said that Hooters was one of their all time favorite places to eat, and they didn't get to eat there often due to us not having one close.
When we ordered our food, Paulas mom called and she told her we were eating at Willie G's, another seafood restaurant. Hmmm, that's odd we thought, and when she got off the phone we asked why the lie. Her mother doesn't let her eat at Hooters because of the sexuality and the degradation of women. Not good to start the first meal with a lie, no matter how ridiculous I thought the reasoning was. Paula also proceeded to tell us she was not allowed to wear anything but older lady style swim suits. You know the one piece with the ruffles covering the rear. I thought her swim suit was a bit odd for a teenager, but what do I know about fashion? I thought with her being a very trendy teenager, maybe she was going for the retro look, guess not. See, I told you she wins. We would learn more as the trip went on.
So with our stomachs full, we headed to our hotel for sleep..... However the powers that be, (the girls) decided it would be more fun staying at a hotel on the beach instead of one three miles away........ I almost paniced, as I realized that the Mr. Planner that I was, was suddenly outnumbered. Sorry Mr. Bodett, you can shut that light off now. So an extra 60 dollars later, we were asleep across from the beach. Just a little secret between us, I really liked Comfort Inn and Suites. It was a great place to stay after a long day, and the feather pillows were incredible!

Well, that was day 1, stay tuned for day 2: Downtown Disney and the burp heard around DTD.

DAY 2 Sept. 4: Downtown Disney and the burp heard around DTD.

The plan was to wake up early and catch a little more beach time before we headed to Disney, that was why we stayed at the hotel close to the beach. My wife Kristy and I got up at daybreak and walked the beach. It was beautiful, and we were close to being the only people on the beach. It was quiet, and peaceful, a perfect beginning to the day, and that would be the end of the peace and quiet the rest of the trip!

We woke the girls and slowly packed the truck and made our way closer to the World. Today was a very obnoxious day when it came to the girls. I believed that it was the excitement of getting closer to Disney, but soon I would realize that it was the farther they got from home, the more crazy they would get. I guess that's being a teenager.
We got to Orlando at about 2 p.m., and checked in at the Main Gate West Motel 6 for the night. The hotel was okay, not as clean as I hoped, but for one night it was okay. Mr. Bodett might want to check that hotel out, it seems to be up for a refurb.
We rested until 4:30, and then made our way to Downtown Disney for some food and fun.
Now Paula, a great girl, as we found out, likes to burp out loud. I thought it was something to get laughter in the truck to break up the ride, but as soon as we hit Downtown Disney, she did it in public. A loud, open mouth, window rattling, burp that sounded like a sound effect from the Dinosaur ride. People passing her cringed in disgust, I was horrified, my wife and Kacie were shocked, but Paula laughed and walked on. I looked at Kristy and said, maybe it was an accident. :scared1:
Every trip Kristy and I take to the World, we start off our vacation with a trip to Downtown Disney and a meal at Wolfgang Puck Express at the Marketplace. We love this place, and were really happy to see the facelift the restaurant had received.
Kristy had the Vegetable Pizza, I had the BBQ Chicken Quesadillas, the only meal I have ever ordered here, while Kacie followed my lead, and Paula had Chicken Pasta. We all agreed that the food was fantastic, and the service, as always, was great.
We then hit the streets and walked the entire complex. Here are a few photos from the night.

We had a great time at DTD, and as we walked back towards the truck Paula and her burp struck again. This time there were more people around, and more bad reactions. This worried me so I asked her to try to not burp like a drunken pirate, and try to be more like the lady that she is. I won't lie, I was very irritated at the lack of manners, because I knew that both girls were raised better than what we had seen so far. I asked her what would happen if her mom would have heard her burp like that in public, and she said she would have been slapped across the face......... I looked to Kacie, who shamefully nodded and quickly looked to the ground. I reassured her that we loved her and her free spirit, but not everyone would be so understanding of her raunchy humor. She promised to try to keep the burps more ladylike, and she did most of the time. :woohoo:

What I will remember most about the night is the wide eyed amazement by the two girls. They were trying to remain cool, but we saw the 5 year old kids come out several times at DTD, and the best part was, DTD is nothing like the parks we will be experiencing the next 8 days. It's great to see the World through the eyes of first timers, and I thank God that we had the chance to do this with these girls.
We immediately crashed when we got back to the room, with dreams of the Animal Kingdom swirling through our heads.

Tomorrow, Day 3 Sept.5; Animal Kingdom and stinky feet vs. Tumbleweed Tami

Day 3 Animal Kingdom and Stinky Feet vs. Tumbleweed Tami

After an ok nights sleep, the mattress was hard and lumpy, as was the pillow, we woke at 7 am and headed to our home for the next 8 days, Pop Century. I had a preferred room, and asked for a room in the 60's building. I had already checked in online before we left, and was very curious to see how well the system worked.
I went in to get our Keys to the Kingdom cards, knowing that our room would not be ready, and check in was very quick and smooth. They took our cell number and would call as soon as the room was ready. With keys in hand we headed to the bus stop for AK.
I do want to say before going any further, I expected bigger crowds with the free dining plan, but to my surprise, the crowds were light our whole stay. Most rides were a walk on, and I know that isn't by chance, but by a lot of hard work by Tour Guide Mike. Great Job Mike!:woohoo:
So we board our bus, just us and one other family. The girls are psyched that the bus is empty, so I did warn them that we would not be so lucky when we were coming back from the parks late at night.
When we got to AK, the rope drop had already occurred, but I wasn't going to let that little thought ruin my day. We carried on happily, the girls literally running through the park. I did not get the time to shoot the photos that I wanted that day, but I knew I had another Ak day later in our stay, so I was ok with it....I should have taken the pictures this day, but more on that later.:sad2:

I know we are supposed to forgo characters when we enter the park, because we will see them later, but the girls won out, and we had to stop for Lilo and Stitch. This becomes a theme for our trip.
We left Lilo and Stitch and immediately went to Kilimanjaro Safari, and WALKED on. It was 9:30, and KS was a walk on! You have to remember this is a holiday weekend, and I was sure there would be bigger crowds than this.
The girls loved the safari, and here are a few shots I got from the trip.

After the safari, we headed to the Pangani Forest Trails, but the girls were not impressed, so we hurried through the trails, much to my disappointment. I love seeing the gorillas here, I could honestly watch them for hours.
Kristy then wanted to take the girls to It's Tough to be a Bug, and I was ready for a sit down somewhere cool. Being from Texas, the weather didn't really play a factor at all, but heat is heat, and if you can take a break, you should.
Kristy and I couldn't wait for their reactions to the surprises during the show. I knew someone would scream, and the show didn't disappoint.
Paula screamed as soon as she was sprayed with water, while Kacie laughed, and kept saying "Cool.". I couldn't wait for the wasps or the roaches and neither would disappoint. What fun it is to take newbies to the World.:rotfl2:
Since we did not eat breakfast, we were getting hungry, so we went ahead and ate at Pizzafari.
I was bad when it came to taking photos of the food, usually because when I got the food, I wanted to eat it!
This was the first time we had eaten here, usually Kristy and I eat at Tusker House, but thought we would try Pizzafari today. We were all very pleased with the pizza here. Paula loved the salad, and raved about the apple cobbler she got here. Something we learned about Paula,.... she loves apple cobbler, and every chance she got, she ate it as a dessert. If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, she should never have to see a doctor again.
We then headed towards Festival of the Lion King, one of our favorite shows at the World. The show had just begun, so we decided to get some shots with the characters. I did take a few shots of the Photopass Photographers as well, but I didn't find that to be as fun as I thought it would be.

Kristy made the girls a autograph book, and they loved getting the different signatures from the characters. They loved Donald's as it said Donald Duck number one. I felt sorry for all our fuzzy friends, they must not have a very good vision insurance program, I mean look at how close Donald has to put the book up to his face to see it.;)
So after seeing Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and CHip and Dale, we went to see FOTLK. We secured great seats near where Simba comes out. We were on the second row. When the show began I got quite a bit of attention by the performers, which was cool. Then my worst fear happened. The male leader, I cannot remember his name, came and picked me to help him lead the call of the Elephants. Why do I always get picked out of a crowd?:confused3
So I went up and did my best elephant call, which surprised him, and myself how well I did. People sitting nearby, even told me I did well, which was nice.
Elephant.jpg

Kristy and I love this show, and the girls did as well. I had a monkey sitting on the Simba float, play a game with me of catching bugs in our hair and feeding them to each other. A ton of fun, and a show that should not be missed!
After the show we headed to Finding Nemo. Yes we are all over the park, and no we did not follow my plan, but I was going to let it slide because this trip was really about the girls, and I still had seven more days to get us on track.
Paula said she cried a bit during Finding Nemo, and we all agreed that we wanted to see it again on our next AK day.
We then headed to Dinosaur, which was a walk on as well. Walk on was definitely the theme of the day, as we waited longer for characters that rides or shows.
Paula and I rode on the outsides, and Paula got SCARED! I think this ride scarred her for life. I'm not sure she can ever go to the museum and look at a dinosaur skeleton the same. She blamed me for the scare, and I was to blame. It was my idea to put her on the outside, but I think on the outside you see more..... Really that is my story...:littleangel:
When we finished Dinosaur, we decided it was time to head to Wilderness Lodge for our dinner reservation. It was nearing 4 p.m., so I was ok with it, knowing we would want to tour the hotel, as this is one of Kristy and my favorites.
We got there at 4:55, yes, that's right, an hour waiting for a bus. It was ok, though, just a little frustrating, but no big deal.
We were seated in the second room of the main dining area, not where I wanted, but I wasn't going to complain. We had always wanted to eat here, but we just never found the time.
Our waitress came out and introduced herself as Tumbleweed Tami. I looked around at the other tables in our area, and they were all smiling, waiting to see what Tami would say to us. Right of the bat, she realized that someone at our table had stinky feet.... It was my wife. :rotfl2: Our table erupted in laughter. As soon as she saw we were up to having fun, she laid it on! She threw us our napkins and straws, and always had something to say about my stinky footed wife. I laid low, only getting picked on for drinking my Dr. Pepper like it was going out of style.
All of the tables enjoyed this ribbing, and each table got it just as bad as we did.
Then 2 men from France were seated at the table behind me. They did not get the humor of it all, and were almost offended when napkins and straws came at them from across the room. You would think that the french would have a pretty good sense of humor, I mean Jerry Lewis is king of comedy in France, but maybe these men were not fans of Jerry Lewis. It did not seem they were big fans of Tumbleweed Tami either.
When our meal was done, Tumbleweed Tami began calling birthday people up. She then did something that sent chills down my spine...... She called my name!:scared1: The look on my face had to be one of pure terror. I had done my best not to feel the wrath of Tami, but it seemed to have failed. I looked at my wife, who had a grinch like smile inch across her face.
I had been bamboozled! The all girl trip to the restroom was a trick. Darn those females! So, myself and three little kids, and one very nervous Frenchman stood in the center of the room and acted out, while singing, I'm a Little Teapot. It was good fun, looking back on it. This plot against me, now made me nervous the rest of the trip.
I forgot to say what we ate, no big surprise here, we ate the Skillet. More food that you could imagine, but very well cooked and seasoned. We said our goodbyes to Tami and all went to DTD for another night. This was our lets figure out what we are going to buy night. We all chose many things, and we had a ball!
With our first day at a close, we put our heads to our pillows wondering what tomorrow would bring.

Next: Day 4 Sept. 6; Get up, we are going to MK today!

I am reading and enjoying!!!popcorn::
