3 Generations Wandering the Wilderness from "Cabin" Camping to Club Level-FW & WL

What a great day @ typhoon lagoon. The videos and the knock down wave pool pix are priceless. And that shark thing looks so cool, I didn't even know that existed. Going to my first water park since I was a kid river country next week, as wilderness is giving BB tickets due to the pool closure. If it's anything like this I'm sure we will have a blast.

Can't wait to hear about artist point.

You threw me off posting to this thread, Heather:rotfl:

So the GoPro got up and went? Leave it to your dad to have taken a picture of it underwater - that's one perfectly timed photo! Disney water parks can end up an expensive lesson in losing things. Our last trip to BB, silly me left my Ray Ban$ on top of my head in the very wave pool Bill filmed:headache:

So you didn't try the reef? You were being kind when you said it's cold - it's freezing! It has to be for the little critters, but it can be a bit uncomfortable for us bigger critters when your mask is leaking and you're freezing:cold:

The videos and fun family photos made for a great installment. Keep 'em comin' and don't forget to bookmark this page:rotfl:. JK, you're totally forgiven for having a million other things to be thinking about everyday:hug:

What a fun day!

I love all the GoPro videos! So glad he found it after losing it though. I definitely know that feeling since I lost my camera on our 1st trip to Disney. Thankfully, someone found it & turned it in for me. Then, on our cruise this past March, I left my camera on a chair in the Cove Cafe. That time, someone turned it into the DVC workers nearby & they tracked me down on the ship. I think I really need to have it surgically attached me. :lmao:

What a great update. I'm hoping next trip we can try a waterpark. Love the GoPro videos. I would have had a mini panic attack when it went missing. My DH just got one and he has had so much fun with it. I was telling him about your DH wearing his at Disney and when I mention he could where it on our next Disney trip he didn't give me a dirty look, he looked kind of excited. If I would have known a GoPro would have made him more excited about going to Disney I would have got him one long ago. I'll have to show him the videos when he gets home.

Wow, Heather! It looks like y'all had a great time at TL! I love all the pics - I will not be showing Willow though as she does not know yet that WDW has water parks. :tiptoe: :rotfl2:

Your day at Typhoon Lagoon looks like it was great fun. We only went one time, and loved the wave pool. The shark reef looks very cool.

AWESOME day!! When we return to Disney, the kids say we have to visit TL...the only option. I think Bill probably enjoyed it more than us :thumbsup2

Hey Heather! Missed you!
What kind of camera did you all use at Typhoon Lagoon? Do you have an underwater camera?

 My dad has a case that fits over his little camera....not his Canon. It's really pretty cool. I think he ordered it off of Adorama.com (a photography website) The GoPro actually makes pictures, too, but we only used it for video.

Love Typhoon Lagoon! The wave pool is crazy but also crazy fun. We needed a bandaid while we were there and went to the nursing station. There were tons of kids that scraped knees and elbows being knocked down by that wave pool. So fun though :)

I can completely understand the need for a bandaid! That wave pool has no mercy!!! We all took a tumble but luckily no skinned knees or elbows.

Hooray for a mini-trip- I am really looking forward to reading about that!

We haven't done a waterpark yet, since our boys are still so young but hopefully in the next few years, we wil be able to change that.

Love all of the pictures- especially of Faith with that big, huge smile in the float. Only Disney brings out those big, beautiful, smiles!

Waterparks at Disney are the best!! But you're right...wait until the boys are old enough to ride everything. Much easier for the parents;) It was really nice this trip because we didn't have to use lifejackets on the rides for Faith and Jesse.

Oh my goodness, I'm so glad Bill found his camera!!!! And the CM wasn't too mean.

Love love love TL! An awesome day. You are rockin that bikini!

No TR for next trip, I'm TRd out for a little while. I'll still be taking pictures though for the memories.

Huge blessing that we found that camera!! That would have made for a really bad day if it had stayed on the bottom of the lazy river :upsidedow

Although I'm a bit bummed about you not doing a TR, I totally get it!!! :thumbsup2 They're a lot of work, and it seems like you're continually working on one

Love TL and the wave pool! Your pics are great..as always. Phew, glad he found his GoPro thank goodness! And Only 8 months...not too shabby. Time will fly and school will be over before you know it. That's what I'm hoping at least ;)

I'm hoping for a smooth school year. So far, so good;) We have Fall Break coming up in October but no Disney trip ...actually no trip at all  Got to save up for that cruise!

My family definitely loves Typhoon Lagoon and that awesome wave pool. I could spend all day in there. The first picture you posted of Faith on one of the water rides shows the pure joy on her face. Love it!

Thank goodness Bill found his camera. A little pixie dust for you and we get to see all the great pictures. I love how Ma Hopie and Pop are right there riding all the rides with you.

I actually could go to Disney for a long weekend and be totally happy doing only the water parks. Now that the kids don't need life jackets and can swim really well, it makes the water parks much easier and lots more fun. My kids think it's awesome that MaHopie and Pop can do everything they do - well almost everything ;)

Hope you're BB day is great!!! You'll have to let us know how it goes!! Maybe the weather will be perfect for y'all...and I bet it won't be crowded.

Shocked, are you?? Can't imagine why. Was totally planning on getting my next installment finished this weekend, but football took all day Saturday. Working on the next one tonight....after this ;)

I'm thinking you may need to find some way to attach it to your person

What a great update. I'm hoping next trip we can try a waterpark. Love the GoPro videos. I would have had a mini panic attack when it went missing. Yep! Should have given it to him long ago...you might have gotten more Disney trips that way ;) They really are kinda fun...and GREAT fun at Disney. Tell him to buy a head strap the you can get some fabulous ride shots.

Wow, Heather! It looks like y'all had a great time at TL! I love all the pics - I will not be showing Willow though as she does not know yet that WDW has water parks. :tiptoe: :rotfl2:

What??!! She doesn't know they have waterparks??!? Do I need to call her?? ;) Take that kid to BB or TL! Maybe y'all can do it when you go on your all girls trip.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

We will take a brief intermission in our regularly scheduled program to bring you ….

A Mini-Mini Trip and Dis Meet Combined!!!

Ok…so you people know that I have to share my August Trip pictures, right?! ::yes::

This was a VERY unexpected trip for me!!

A little background information. Long story short…

Erin (DisneyDoc5) and I met on the DisBoards eons ago. She followed along on my trip reports, then we started emailing each other, then we started the texting and phone conversations, sending pictures, b-day gifts... We’ve become fabulous friends …it’s like we’ve known each other for years. Weird, I know.

Anywho…Erin and Caleb have been planning a mother/son trip for months. Unfortunately for me, it was in August when we were in school so I didn't think there was any way I could make it down there. One morning on our way to church…

I say to Bill….“It really stinks that Erin’s gonna be so close

Bill very calmly and nonchalantly says…. “You need to go down there and see them.”

Me…. “Seriously??? You’re telling me to go to Disney??” (I'm secretly freaking out inside about to go nuts!)

Bill… “Yes

Me…. Dead silence....but still freaking out that Bill actually suggested this!!! I immediately text Erin and say “I’M COMING TO DISNEY!!”

Erin… “WHAT??!! BRING STEPHEN!! YAY!!”

So basically I invited myself! :rolleyes1 And we immediately started planning our Mini Mini Dis Meet that night on the phone.

First stop…POP Century! We've never done this Value, so it was a no-brainer. I'm on a quest, ya know...to stay at EVERY Disney resort!! :thumbsup2

Stephen and I left school early for our drive down to FL…we made great time even in the rain. Arriving at POP Century around 7:30ish, we checked in and found our room.

We weren’t meeting Erin and Caleb until Saturday afternoon, so Stephen and I were going to take it easy…really.

The room…

90s Building! It’s definitely not a preferred building…it was a bit of a walk to the food court, but no big deal at all.

While I was really fascinated with the outside décor of the POP, I was unimpressed with the rooms.

They were super plain…not really any theming whatsoever.

The room also had a really funky smell….couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Since it was only for 1 night, I didn’t ask for another room, however I did let them know that the room had a funny odor.

This was our view from the 4th floor.

Looking over at the 80s Building…very cool!

Stephen was totally loving the theme!! Even though the room was just mediocre, the rest of the resort made up for it.

We were a tad bit hungry, so it was time to grab a bite to eat. After a burger and some good ol’ greasy fries, I needed something sweet. A little bird by the name of WDWKOOK told me I had to try a King Cupcake. On the hunt, we were…and lookie what we found! A King Cupcake AND Tie-dyed Cheesecake! :woohoo:

Holy cow good!!! Especially with some milk!!!

If I told you we didn’t get up early, would you believe me?? Probably not. However…we really did sleep in. When I opened my eyes, the clock said 7:30am…that’s sleeping in for me, folks. And can you say excited???!! Stephen and I were both so super excited because we would be meeting Erin and Caleb today!!!! :dance3:

But before that….pictures of the POP.

It was a beautiful morning! I was feeling so blessed to be at Disney with my oldest child. Let me just say how nice it was to be with Stephen. We could do whatever he wanted, take our time and look around, read all the cool signage that is posted around the POP….a fabulous experience for the two of us. Love this kid!!

Love the laptop!! “Surf the net!” Funny how kids don’t realize that the internet hasn’t been around forever….Stephen and I had the whole internet invention conversation…great mother/son time!

What was really neat was explaining all of the 70s and 80s slang to Stephen that he saw posted around the resort. He got a real kick out of the different decades.

And who wouldn’t want a little kiss from Mrs. Potato Head????

I know we’re being silly, but it was so much fun!!! You can do this at Disney, ya know…. :teeth:

And a high-five for Mr. Potato Head…

Continued to next post!!!!

Continued from previous post!!!

I had all intentions of skipping over to the Art of Animation, but time didn’t permit. :guilty:

Stephen and I walked the entire grounds of the resort on Saturday morning! We didn’t have our first FP until 11am, so we took advantage and had some scenic time.

Can’t ya see why kids love this place??!! :goodvibes

Foosball, anyone?? And Stephen’s the ball!

Quite honestly, I could have spent another hour walking around this place just snapping pictures and reading the signs. ::yes::

The shapes of the pool are awesome. Of course there isn’t a waterslide which Stephen pointed out immediately… (my family loves a good waterslide;))

Again, I wish we would have had more time to check out the memorabilia….Stephen absolutely loved this!! And me, too.

The 70s…

The 90s…

What a hoot looking at all of this stuff…stuff that I can totally remember!

While I wasn't crazy about the room, I'm really liking the resort. It will be a great place for my family for a short weekend trip to the World. We'll definitely be back.

Ok…. It was finally time to head to the Magic Kingdom!:yay:

Did I say how excited we were??? Beyond!! I think Stephen was more excited than me! I could hardly believe that Erin and I would actually be meeting for the first time after all these years. AND Stephen would be making a lifelong friend, too. Love these people!!!

:cheer2: :dancer: :woohoo:

What fun! Except for that fun-ky smell. I'm guessing it was the AC? We've never stayed at a Value so I really enjoyed your detailed photos of the grounds and room. Mr. Potato Head will never be the same:laughing:

Would you stay one night at a Value again after a late-ish arrival? You know, there are still those other Values and I'd love an AoA FS TR from you:surf web:

Oh, and about that King Cupcake, I've never been over there yet to get one, but they've always sounded so intriguing - they have BACON! Thank you for having one for me, even though you needed extra milk. I owe you a milk;)

What a great story of your weekend trip with Stephen. That is so nice to get some time away from the younger ones and spend it with him. He seemed to love it, too. ::yes::

Yay!:yay: Mini trip report, starring us!:grouphug: First let me say that looking at these pictures makes us miss you guys! For all the readers, this was really something special for Heather and I. We have been blessed to become great friends and it has been wonderful! We have tons in common in addition to loving Disney....loving our families, cooking, big earrings, shoes, dry sense of humor, faith, photography, and lots of other silly things....candy crush anyone!?!

Anyway, Caleb and I were beyond thrilled that they could come! When Heather told me they were coming I was literally giddy with excitement:banana::banana::banana:. (by the way, she didn't really invite herself, I have told her to come down every time we are there in hopes that it would some day work out, she knew this and it was important to us both). I jumped on it and immediately was able to change my ADR to a party of 4 for 50's Prime Time. It all fell into place perfectly and was meant to be!:woohoo:

Now I know some of you will think we are nuts, but of course I immediately just planned on them staying with us in our room for the one night. Even though we hadn't met in person, we have been in very close communication for years and needless to say, there was no hesitation! We would be having an epic Disney slumber party!:cheer2:

I will let Heather fill you in on the rest, I just wanted to chime in and share how special it was to us that they made the effort and took the time to come down. It was a highlight of the trip for Caleb and I and just solidified that our friendship will stand the test of time and the miles that separate us.:wave2:

Mini TR and DISmeet! That's always exciting.

I am also on a quest to stay at every Disney resort! I'm short Yacht Club and every All Star Resort! I really enjoy Pop Century though. It's really a great value. When we stayed there we did preferred, and the location was perfect. Sorry that you had a funny odor though. That's just weird.

That's great that you were able to make it down to WDW for a quick trip and spend some one on one time with Stephen.

Pop Century is a cool resort. You can't beat the price of the Values.

Looking forward to hearing more about this trip!

I AM so excited to read about the mini trip! I think it is awesome!! I wish I had a best friend to share my love of Disney with.. MY DH thinks I am crazy whenever I say " Oh my friend on the DIS boards/FB this/that.. LOL" and when we went on our beach vacay the other week, I was staring in the window at Thomas Kinkade outlet at the Disney paintings and this lady stopped and we just started talking about Disney. She said she goes 5 x a year, told me all about the resorts she enjoys, etc. She said everyone says she has a sickness when it comes to Disney. LOL

My friend that was with me told my DH later, that she thought I was going to leave her there and run off with this lady and she was surprised I didn't get her number... LOL!!!! I am pretty sure she really is my long-lost BFF.

I would love to take a mini-trip, just me and Laws. Maybe one day!

What a treat to have one on one time with one of your kids and meet your friend- all while at Disney!pixiedust:

How fabulous is Bill, he knew it was important you go :)

Love that you got special time with Stephen, you'll remember that forever. :)

Pop was my first solo trip, great place. You're so right, the outside theming is so cool. Inside you can't really tell you're somewhere special.

Heather I LOVE everything about that mini-trip!! POP (minus the funk), just you and Stephen!!! AND a DISmeet!!! :goodvibes You truly got in some invaluable Mom & kiddo time! He hasn't had you all to himself in a long time..they grow TOO fast!!

Erin You are NOT crazy at all. I've met my now closest buds here on the DIS!! I am so happy for all of you, and can't wait for more!!::yes::

AoA???? Next on my Value list:thumbsup2 Would be perfect for a couple of nights.

Oh, and about that King Cupcake, I've never been over there yet to get one, but they've always sounded so intriguing - they have BACON! Thank you for having one for me, even though you needed extra milk. I owe you a milk;)

You've never had one???!! And you told me I had to try it??!! I'll be waiting on my milk....

What a great story of your weekend trip with Stephen. That is so nice to get some time away from the younger ones and spend it with him. He seemed to love it, too.

It was really nice to have some mother/son bonding time. Stephen even told me that I needed to do this with Jesse and Faith. :scratchin Does that mean I need to plan another Disney trip??....

Yay! Mini trip report, starring us!:grouphug: First let me say that looking at these pictures makes us miss you guys! For all the readers, this was really something special for Heather and I. :thumbsup2 Good thing you don't live closer...our shopping sprees might get a bit out of hand

Anyway, Caleb and I were beyond thrilled that they could come! Slumber party! Nice description! And you're right...it was just like one. We only got 3 or 4 hours of sleep!! Too much chatting!

I will let Heather fill you in on the rest, I just wanted to chime in and share how special it was to us that they made the effort and took the time to come down. It was a highlight of the trip for Caleb and I and just solidified that our friendship will stand the test of time and the miles that separate us.:wave2:

Another Diser on the same journey!!;) I would totally go back...but now I'm wanting to try AoA. We've done AsMu and AsMo ...guess I need to try Sports but not overly excited about it.

That's great that you were able to make it down to WDW for a quick trip and spend some one on one time with Stephen.

Pop Century is a cool resort. You can't beat the price of the Values.

Looking forward to hearing more about this trip!

You're right...can't beat the price. Before leaving, I found AsMu online for around $70 but really wanted to stay at Pop, so I didn't mind paying a little more.

I AM so excited to read about the mini trip! I think it is awesome!! I wish I had a best friend to share my love of Disney with.. Don't we all :upsidedow The whole Dis Friend thing is weird to lots of people, and I can see why they would think that. In reality it kinda is  But cool at the same time.

My friend that was with me told my DH later, that she thought I was going to leave her there and run off with this lady and she was surprised I didn't get her number... LOL!!!! I am pretty sure she really is my long-lost BFF.

I would love to take a mini-trip, just me and Laws. Maybe one day!

Was she on the DisBoards??! If not, you should have introduced her;) And when your kids are older, you should definitely take them one by one...lots of fun!

What a treat to have one on one time with one of your kids and meet your friend- all while at Disney!pixiedust:

:thumbsup2 Exactly...all while at Disney! Perfect!

How fabulous is Bill, he knew it was important you go :)

You're right, Jeanette. Stephen hasn't had any one-on-one time with me in a very long time. Was so refreshing to have good chats...fun times!!

Erin You are NOT crazy at all. I've met my now closest buds here on the DIS!! I am so happy for all of you, and can't wait for more!!

:goodvibes I figured you would totally understand. This is how you and Janet met! :goodvibes

Magic Kingdom Here We Come!!!:dancer:

The day was beautiful!! Believe it or not, the heat was very manageable for August. Stephen was super psyched about a day at MK without little brother and sister…not that he doesn’t love them ;)

I’m not big into the whole selfie craze but what do you do when there’s just two of ya?? :confused3

I was anticipating a really long bus wait, but that wasn’t the case at all! Within minutes we boarded the bus and headed to the most magical park on property!

And OMG! Where did the masses of people come from??!! :faint:

No worries! Much easier to maneuver through crowds with only two bodies.

Of course we get a picture on Main Street! Who doesn’t??! And notice our most fashionable gray Magic Bands :upsidedow Didn't have time to get our colored "monogramed" bands, so we had to go with mnemonic gray...BORING Stephen says!

Stephen - "Mom, people are gonna think we're newbies."

Me - "Newbies??"

Stephen - "Yeah, mom...like we're new to Disney and don't know what we're doing!"

Me - "I don't get it, son??"

Stephen - "Mom! People that don't know how to do things at Disney wear gray bands!"

Me - "Son, ...your dad likes gray."

Stephen - "Exactly"

On our way back to catch our FP (Splash Mountain), we had to stop and enjoy the scenery. I’m tellin’ ya…the day was gorgeous – for now. Rain predicated in the afternoon. :umbrella:

Stephen and I had fun snapping silly shots of each other. A bit childish…but who cares.

And who got wet??!! Yours truly!

Stephen thought this was hilarious…me not so much. But then again, I really didn’t care. Ya know, I could wear a poncho like some people do … DisneyDoc5 ( I won’t mention any real names…cough – cough :rolleyes1)

Another scenic shot or two….

We briefly watched the parade…

Waved at a few characters…

Then headed to my most favorite ride ever! Seriously…it is.

“Paging Mr. Morrow…Mr. Tom Morrow”…

The crowds really weren’t bad at all. We were pleasantly surprised.

And while we were riding the People Mover, Stephen and I decided to play a little game (compliments of KOOK – this was her brilliant idea;) ). So here ya go… Wave at everyone down below and see how many people wave back. Well…. Apparently we weren’t doing something right or just completely looked like crazed fools…because we got ZERO waves….zilch….nada…nothing!! :confused3 I need some pointers, please, KOOK!

Was it fun? Was it entertaining?! You bet! :thumbsup2 We laughed hysterically!

Continued to next post!

Continued from previous post!

Not gonna bore you with every ride we rode, but we got LOTS done thanks to the FP+. :thumbsup2 After our 3 rides, we kept going back to the kiosk for more. The unfortunate thing with those kiosks is that many of the people using them have no clue whatsoever and it takes a considerable amount of time. OR you have someone making ALL 3 FP+ reservations because they didn’t do it ahead of time…therefore going through EVERY ride trying to decide. :headache: That was my rant for the day…

Another great thing about traveling with one person…much easier to shop!! :woohoo: Stephen and I went into every shop on Main Street!! By this time it was misting rain (no big deal…we have ponchos!) We had to get our crazy hat shot. too. Of course there was no one to make the picture, so another selfie it is.

We were getting a bit hungry….

So why not something really healthy and filling…

We found a comfortable spot on a bench underneath an awning and enjoyed our ice cream while it began to rain. Of course we were totally watching the clock! Waiting on Erin and Caleb to arrive! Did I mention that we were really, really excited??!!! :dance3:

Then Stephen and I had a brilliant idea! :teeth: Since we were going to be back at MK tonight, why not leave and ride the monorail around the resort loop…not once but twice. And maybe stop along the way at one of the resorts. Which one will it be???

The Polynesian of course!!! I was dying to see what the construction looked like. I’m nosey like that, ya know.;)

And boy what a surprise! We hopped off the monorail and this is what we saw!:faint:

Yikes!!

This was made from the 2nd floor….

I’m gonna tell ya……I can hardly wait to see what this place has in store for the future! I bet it’s going to be fabulous. :thumbsup2 Or at least I hope so!

We were hungry …again. Captain Cooks was calling my name!!! Especially the nachos!!

And low and behold, to my surprise! This place is almost done!!

Stephen was busy texting his little girlfriend :lovestruc… and I was busy snapping pictures.

Can you say YUMMY??!!!

After stuffing our faces, we explored a bit more….

Ok wow! No getting to the outside!!

Can't WAIT to see what the Poly is gonna look like when it's all said and done!!

About this time, I get a text from Erin that says they are in Orlando!!!! OMG!!!:yay: They’re here!!! We (Stephen and I) were seriously both excited. Stephen was asking me tons of questions about Erin and Caleb…most of which I could answer. The best one…. “Mom, do they talk weird??” No weirder than us, son….trust me.

Time to meet my dear friend!!!!!!:woohoo:
