3 days-To hop or not to hop?

So glad I asked! We have AP for WDW and are just used to going wherever, whenever. I love the flexibility of hopping.

Now possibly considering a 4th day...We will be driving from Yosemite and was planning on just dinner and walking around Downtown Disney the day we get there. It will be a whopping $43 total to add the 4th day (with hoppers). Decisions, decisions...

For that little of price, I would go ahead and add the 4th day. Downtown Disney in my opinion is just OK, it's something that can be easily done in a short amount of time. If you add the 4th day you get the option to at least get a few extra hours in the parks, plus you could also eat dinner in the parks if you wanted too.

We always get hoppers. If nothing else if one park fills up you can switch to the less busy park.

Definitely get the hoppers. To be honest you can see both parks in 4 days so you have the option of seeing both in that 3 days period and not tiring of one park wishing you could get into the other. There are cool things in each park anyway, and I wouldn't want anyone to regret not having the option of at least trying to see it. Plus its always nice to switch parks when one park gets really busy such as Disneyland's original park during the 2 hour night time parade/Fireworks/Fantasmic stint when everyone crams themselves, strollers and scooters into three + different lands. Plus they close Fantasyland during the fireworks so again that's less room for you to be in.

Just got back and I'm not feeling as strongly about hopping as most of the posters here. We had 5 day hoppers, but we only hopped 1 day and we could have certainly lived without it. For us, DLR is not a frequent trip (last visit was 2009) so we bought the hoppers as a "just in case we want to" kind of thing. There are only 3 of us and as an add to 5-day hoppers it wasn't too bad, so I would probably go ahead and do it again but we honestly didn't really need it. Part of it was that DCA just wasn't that interesting for us. We spent a full day there (our 1st day) and did everything we cared about there. As 2 adults & an 18yo, there were a LOT of rides that were "one and done" or not even on our list (all of bug's land, Triton's carousel, Frozen show, character meets, etc.) We were lucky that last Saturday was pretty light at DCA and were able to do both GoG and RSR with fastpasses. Honestly, we even took a break for a couple hours in the middle of the day and still felt like we had done everything we wanted. We spent most of the rest of our trip at DL and were totally happy with that! On Wednesday, we did hop to DCA for a few hours. (DL from 8am-10am, DCA from10am-3pm, DL from 6pm-10:30pm) We were able to do RSR again and a few other things (roller coaster, GRR, little mermaid) but it was much more crowded than our earlier visit and there just wasn't much on our must do list. (GoG was already into late evening FP distribution before we even arrived so it wasn't an option)

I agree with pdarrah. We had hoppers and only hopped once and that was when DCA closed and we hopped to DL. I'm not sure it's worth the extra money but part of me feels like we should get them again next time just in case.

We have AP's although even if we didn't, we would purchase hoppers. We hop between parks every day. It's so different to WDW, it really is like basically one large park. You only have to go through security once and you can go in between the two parks easily.

i say get the hoppers! When I go, I find myself hopping for food or nighttime shows almost more often than hopping for rides. On my last trip, we wanted to do MSEP dining for Blue Bayou and could only get reservations on what was going to be our DCA day....hoppers to the rescue! Plus, it's nice to just be able to make a quick hop if there's one or two rides you want to ride in one park (like my DD and California Screamin). i really do like the flexibility--especially in the third day when you will probably want to re-ride your favorites.

I say hop! Yes, I love DL more, and I wouldn't want to spend an entire day just at DCA, but I believe the food options are better at DCA, and I also love having a glass of bubbly with my meal, feels festive. WOC is a must do, and Carsland, have to be there at least once everyday!
