Being Florida residents, we rarely bother to spend the night when we visit the parks. However, I wanted a special "christmas" trip, so we decided to "sample" the deluxe resorts and camp down in DiSNEy duRIng the Christmas Cheer.

Part Three - Saturday, 12/13/03
We woke up to Mickey mouse at the AKL and went to BOMA for breakfast. We have eaten there for dinner before, so I had high hopes for breakfast. I enjoyed the frunch, but I was disappointed in the amount of traditional fare there was. I guess I love ethnic food and was hoping for something more in tune with our dinner experiences. It was good food, though. Just not what I had expected.
We checked out of the AKL and went to the Wilderness Lodge to check-in. Now some people will think I'm batty because our day on Saturday was focused on "african" themes, but we had already checked out of the AKL... Well, go ahead and think I'm crazy.
It's true.
We took the bus to the Animal Kingdom and enjoyed it. I have never been to the park. We wanted to go when the weather was cool enough to go, and this December definitely fit the bill. I had walk on's at most of the rides, and I was amazed at the crazy people who went on the River Rapids in the cold weather. I have to keep reminding myself that Florida residents think this weather is cold, but people comign form up North don't. I used to live in sub-zero Iowa, so I understand cold. Anyway, I was amazed at the amount of people I would see blow-drying themselves in the bathroom after being soaked on the rapids. Crazy, I say!
After the day at AK, we took the bus back to the Wilderness Lodge and headed over to Jiko for an eary dinner. It was *SO * yummy. I really splurged eating the monk-fish. I had no idea there would be butter-covered sauce with sweet potato chips everywhere. As I said, I'm glad we did so much walking or I would have gained an incredible amount of weight!!!!
We drove back to the WL and couldn't find a parking spot anywhere. WE had to do valet parking. I was amazed. I don't know why there are so few spots to park at the WL, but I was annoyed. We took the bus to the TTC and the monorail to the Grand FLoridian and watched another high school choir perform. I love being able to enjoy the performances.
We took the boat back to WL and discovered just how tired we were after 3 days of constant going. I can't help being a compulsive planner. My DH is a homebody though, so he was dragging his body by this point. We decided to check-out of the WL at 11pm and head home. I know we wasted the money, but I wasn't very impressed with the WL after everything I had read. It was okay, but the christmas decorations at the AKL were just as good, if not better. There was noise constantly coming from the Whispering Canyon Cafe. There were no special performances in the lobby at the time, either. IT was alright, but I probably won't bother spending the night there again. I'll just visit it for a short time like we did at the Grand Floridian.
