Being Florida residents, we rarely bother to spend the night when we visit the parks. However, I wanted a special "christmas" trip, so we decided to "sample" the deluxe resorts and camp down in DiSNEy duRIng the Christmas Cheer.

Who Went?

Part One - Thursday, 12/11/03

Our first night we slept at the Contemporary in the Tower Rooms. We were doing MVMCP that evening so I thought it would be great to be within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom. We *NEVER* go to the Magic Kingdom, so I thought I'd splurge on this trip.

We arrived at the Contemporary by about 12noon. Our room wasn't ready, which was fine. We went and did some rides at the magic kingdom while waiting... The monorail was very convenient and nice.

On the way back to the resort to check into our rooms, we asked a cast member at the exit where the walk way to the Contemporary was. He said: OOOOH YOU DON"T WANT TO DO THAT. I explained I had no problems walking. He said: OKAY, BUT I WARNED YOU! *laugH* We walked that path and it was *so* convenient. Not a big deal at all. I enjoyed looking at the mickey's all over the path on the walk.

We got our room number and didn't realize that disney resorts are numbered so weirdly. We had a room number 4000 something and went to the 4th floor with our luggage. WOOPS! The 4th floor didn't have any rooms at all. It was the monorail station. We ended up stopping at every floor up the elevator just to look at the signs to find our room. :)

We had a *MAGNIFICENT* dinner at the California Grill. Florida residents get a 20% discount for disney dining, and our christmas bonus'es at work helped us splurge on that one. It was *SO* worth it. You can see my review of that in the Calfiornia Grill reviews section.

MVMCP was interesting. We don't have children as we've only been married for a year. We skipped the parade, but enjoyed many of the other "festivities".

The Contemporary carpet was strange.... It had big orange/yellow strips on it that kept making me think we had a large power-cord running through our hotel room.

The view from our room was especially nice during the christmas season because of the pretty christmas trees out front of the Contemporary. We kept the curtains open to enjoy the lights.

The room was okay, but I will probably not bother spending $200 to spend the night there again :)

Yum dinner at one of my favorite places - California Grill - thanks for posting!
