I am looking to get a led tv. Is it worth getting a 3-d one. Other than movies I can't think of any reason to get one. Will there be tv shows in 3-d in the future?

My in-laws have one and it is awesome! I think MIL has bought every 3-D movie she has seen in stores. There are a few 3-D channels but the only one I can think of is an ESPN. With more and more movies being made in 3-D I think it is worth it just for that.

I have an LG 3d LED tv. I personally don't think it's worth it to pay extra for the 3d, but the model we purchased happened to be a 3d tv (one of our must-haves was a Smart TV that can connect wirelessly...some require a hard connection). We have watched a few movies in 3d and it is fun, but not enough to pay extra for in my opinion. I am not one to pay extra at the theater to watch a movie in 3d either, though, so if you love watching 3d movies in the theater you may enjoy it at home.

My tv can do "2d to 3d" meaning it will convert a normal movie or tv channel to 3d. It basically gives the show or movie more depth, similar to a real 3d movie. It is pretty neat for football if you are a football fan (I hate sports). :)

You may find, depending on what types of features you are looking for in a tv, that the 3d just happens to come with it.

!YES!:thumbsup2

a year ago my daughter asked if it was worth getting a 3d tv, but we were pretty much talked out of it, since those who siad something, said they never used it.

now fast forward to this summer. I was looking for a new tv. it seems that every month there is so new tech out there, & it has come a long way even from last year. you MUST get the tv that has passive glasses, they are cheap & even can use the ones from movie theatres.

as a previous poster said, you can turn your regular tv programs into 3d.

now I bought it mainly because the olympics were shown in 3d,, really neat opening & closing ceremonies.

you can now rent 3-d movies, either from your cable tv or there is a mail program like netflix that works nicely.

IF the price diff is not that great, I'd say go for the 3-d.

My son found a great deal ($300) on a 32", 1080p, HD, 3D Vizio at Target this month. He didn't set out to find a 3D but he's enjoying it. So, depends on the price, imho.
