Hi
We want to book one night at a 3 br villa before a cruise.. which resort would be better?
Have all the villas at SSR been remodeled? Is it worth the 30+pts difference

Availability shows the "standard" one in both resorts, so I am assuming long distance to the bus transportation (we will use it to the port)

In our party one person couldn't climb stairs.. are there Okw villas in ground floor?

Thanks!

We have experienced the OKW Grand Villas, but not SSR. The OKW rooms were amazing when we stayed there. But something I wanted to mention, since you say you have a person who cannot climb stairs. The villas at both OKW and SSR are on 2 floors, meaning most of the bedrooms are on the second floor. I don't know how sleeping will be arranged for you, but that might matter.

Both resorts have bus transportation running throughout the resort, so you could take a bus to the main building, if you needed it, to catch a bus to the port.

If you decide to book at OKW, be aware you MUST book a HandiAccessible GV to avoid stairs to the entry level. There are ONLY 3 HA GVs at OKW, one in Bldg 48 with a ground floor entry, and 2 in bldg 63, with elevator access. All the other GVs at OKW enter on the 2nd floor of the buildings, and require you to climb a flight of stairs to enter.

Thanks - I learned something new there. I didn't even realize they had them.

The second floor of the OKW GV still will be stair access only, even in the HA units, but the mobility impaired will have access to the kitchen, living room, and master suite.

Standard at SSR can be close to the Carriage House or it could be far from it, but so is preferred. OKW GV’s are one of the greatest deals in DVC and SSR standard GV’s are usually the next fewest points in the DVC line up. AKV standard is right there with SSR standard. Neither are close to OKW points wise. The smaller bedroom at OKW has 2 full sized beds in it and not queen, the larger one will have 2 queen sized beds. At SSR they are all queen in the upstairs bedrooms. The best bet to get a OKW GV is to book at 11 months. They go fast for most of the year due to the price per night. We stayed in one for 6 nights in 2020. It was amazing all the space. Since you have a party that cannot handle stairs, at SSR they would be able to use either the master bedroom or the Murphy bed in the living room to sleep on the first floor of the room. There is also a secondary entrance to the second floor of the villa to get the other 2 bedrooms. This is an inconvenience to exit the villa, go to the elevator, then back over to the lower floor. Since they are at the ends of the buildings as far as possible from the elevators. The other options are the resorts with one story GV’s but those prices can get high fast. Like double OKW. AKV Jambo, VGF, CCV and RIV all have 1 floor GV’s. BWV also has I believe 2 one story, but they have more 2 story and there is no guarantee which you would get.
