I thought that I could stay at some of the Deluxe rooms with three adults and two kids. We are going to extend our trip by one day in June and I didn't want to use the weekend points for DVC. We are taking my MIL, hence the other adult.

When I go to the WDW website to look for a room they tell me that there are too many in my room and I have to have a DVC or GF. I am not opposed to staying at the GF, but I thought other resorts slept five too!

Hi,
We are a family of five (DH and I, three kids) and always stay at the Poly and never have a problem. My 18-year-old son is 6-5 and is perfectly comfortable on the daybed ('course he may just be saying that to make sure we stay at the Poly!;). My daughters share one bed and my husband and I the other. True, just one bathroom ... but the resort is beautiful and if you stay in the concierge building, there is plenty of room to find a little space!

I've not stayed there, but hear CR is also comfortable for five.

Have a great trip!

Cindy

You could stay at Contemporary or Polynesian - both have rooms that sleep five (but you will have to pay the extra adult fee). You'll get two queen beds and one day bed. WL and AL don't have standard rooms that sleep five, so you'll have to get a deluxe room. And I think most of the deluxe rooms at AKL became DVC villas.

How about a Ft Wilderness cabin (they sleep 6) or an All Stars family suite (they also sleep 6). And you don't pay the extra adult fee.

We have stayed at CR with 5 people and it was very comfortable. You can also do a deluxe room at WL that sleeps 6. You may want to call Member Services and check the cash price for the villa you are staying in. DVC members get a 25% discount for cash reservations. We do this for the weekends sometimes when we don't want to use points. The price you would pay for the villa may be as much or maybe less than for a deluxe room. It is worth checking into and then you don't have to move for just 1 night.

Have a great trip!!

ReallyCinderella is correct - the Polynesian DOES sleep 5 in every room (2 queens plus the twin-sized daybed). I believe the Contemporary does too, as well as some of the Epcot resorts.

I'm wondering if there's just no availability for the dates you're going, other than a DVC or the GF? That's the only reason I can think of for the computer (WDW website) not showing you more resort options for your group of 5. :confused3

EDITED TO ADD: I was posting at the same time as deb&bill and domestic goddess! LOL

We have moved every time we have traveled to WDW. I am going to see if I can get the DVC 25% off on your two bedroom. It is going to cost a lot but the piece of mind and not moving is going to be worth it for us. Thanks for your help!

The online website is not always the most reliable and sometimes it does kick back crazy stuff. You can stay in a standard room at the GF, Poly, CR, BWI, BC and YC. I would call instead.

There are always 5 of us when we stay at the Poly and it is very comfortable. My dd who uses the daybed is happy with it and says it's extremely comfortable. We have never felt cramped.

Five of us stayed comfortably at BC this past summer. My DS slept on the daybed and was quite territorial about it! Evidently, it was a good place to sleep. We had two queen beds and the daybed.

Call CRO directly, the online reservations are notorious for being wrong. You should be able to fit at GF, the Poly, CR, YC, BC, and BWI with no problems.

We've stayed at Polynesian and Beach Club with day bed. That bed was never fitted with sheets, etc. We've only had four people, though.

I saw a picture of the extra bed at CR and it looked much bigger AND was "made up" for someone to sleep in. Is that standard procedure if you have five people in the group?

If we have 5 I hate for the extra person to feel like they are sleeping on the couch, but in the picture, fitted for sleeping, it looked like a regular bed.

Our CR daybed was made up, after using it the first night and leaving it open, mousekeeping "made it up" and left it flipped open. Same thing with YC, it was "made" but left uncovered.

We are only staying one night (extending our stay at another resort) so it won't help if they catch on after the first day.

I guess mousekeeping doesn't know when they make up rooms between guests, so don't routinely make them. So I guess we'll just have to remind them at checkin and get the bed made that day.

Thanks.

The Polynesian rooms do sleep 5, however with 3 adults and 2 tweens in our room, it felt very cramped. Next time we bring MIL along, we'll get two rooms instead of one! :)
