3/22 Magic cruisers

Kim, thanks for the tip about DH's missing birth certificate - he's still document-less, however. I'm going to have to try that site tomorrow. Also, did you get that e-mail about Alaska flying to Orlando now - that should help get our airfares down.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to pack - we'll probably be stuffing things into the suitcase in the wee hours prior to our departure.

However, on the lime green ribbon front, I did find some - well, sort of. It is lime-green but it has daisies on it. I obviously don't have time to worry about it, so if you run into me on board, you'll know me for sure!:D

Happy Packing, everyone!

DH now thinks I'm certifiable. Our guestroom looks like a tornado went through it as I am sorting and gathering. Even DS's are starting to get excited. Lists are everywhere ! ;)

HI: DonnaDavid told me to check out this thread. I'm new to this.
We're on the 3/22 cruise with our 4 and 7 year daughters. Just wondering how many kids of similar ages are out there, and if they'll be in the Oceaneer's programs.
We're excited to be aboard! Anybody else staying at the Hyatt the night before?
-Kim

Kim -

We'll be there with DD7 and DS10. Also know another family from our home town with DD7, and I think they'll be in the clubs. We're also at the Hyatt the night before - flight arrives around 8 or 9.

Jane:

Go to google and you'll find a nice website for the Hyatt. Sounds as though you're getting in fairly late. But the hotel looks beautiful with lots of things for kids to enjoy. Best of all, right off the terminal. We'll see you on the bus! -Kim

Time to bump us up to the 1st page.
We're having a "Family Packing Night" tonight. I love how you can get kids this age excited about anything. My DS wanted to "stay up late and watch videos and eat junk", but he appears to be happy with my alternate plan. My 8 yo DD and I made a packing list for her. I tried to buy clothes for my 5 yo DS, but the kid isn't going to get excited about anything that doesn't have Spiderman on it- he doesn't understand why DCL doesn't want his Spidey in the dining rooms. Plus, he's so darn scrawny that the pants fell right off of him (wish I had that problem:rolleyes: ) I really don't have time to drive to the mall looking for scrawny boy sizes - hopefully I can find something for him in his closet.
There are tons of sick kids in the schools right now - I'm crossing my fingers for no sick kids in my house.

Well would'nt you know. You wait for a year for the most fabulous vacation ever, and now it looks like war will start right before we leave or possibly while on ship. Is any one else concerned with this? My husband now has a big concern about flying. But I told him last night that we have already paid for these tickets and so we are flying. I just pray they don't cancel this cruise due to the war, what a disappointment if they do. Does anyone know if this is a possibility? We only have four days to our cruise, and all this talk of war has put a damper on my excitement. But I am still packing and going, and as God is my witness I will have a wonderful time with all of you. By the way, where on Sunday are we going to meet? I know it is at 11:00 AM, but I don't know where.

Mowanda (Brenda)

Don't know whether this helps or not, but I flew on business in February when we were also at Code Orange security level. I can't say I noticed anything more stringent at the airport. I also flew on business the day after we started the bombing in Afghanistan in Oct, 2001. At that time, the security checks were longer and there was military in the airports, but other than that I didn't have any problems or concerns.

Hi duesterj,

Thanks for responding. Your info did help. I believe everything will be allright. Might have to wait a little longer at the airport, but I know once we are on that beautiful ship, it will all be worth it. See you soon. Oh, also I found my note to myself, among the hundreds that I have everywhere now, about where we are going to meet Sunday. I believe it is at 11:00 AM on the Prom. Deck. See you all soon.

GOD BLESS OUR SOLDIERS!!

I can't help thinking about the war too. But after counting down for a year to this cruise, I'm determined to have a good time! The only thing that I can think of that might help is giving ourselves extra time at the airports, terminals, etc. It might take longer to get on and off the ships while we are in port, but hey, we're in paradise, so who cares? Webmaster Michelle said in one of her posts that Disney wouldn't cancel the cruise unless they thought they were a target.

On to a brighter note, I have been practicing your names (for the last few months I been thinking of you as sigafoos, mowanda, duesterj, donnadavid, and so on :p ) It will be fun to put a face to the name. I think we are meeting in the Promenade lounge at 11 am on Sunday. Is that right?

Sunday is the Academy Awards. It's on ABC which I think is owned by Disney. Do you think they will do anything special on board? Sunday is also formal night. I'll have to get out my "jewels" ;)

See you soon!!! :jester:

Brenda,
Your post came in while I was typing mine! I guess we are all on the same wavelength.

Hi:

My family will also be on the 3/22 Magic cruise. I posted a thread under "security concerns", but haven't heard back directly from the webmaster as to whether they are stepping up any measures at Disney. Several people posted replies, some traveled last week and you might find them interesting. Look on the first page of the Disney Cruise Line Forum.

I think we'll all be fine, or we wouldn't be taking our family. It's spring break that week for our district, and many people I've spoken with have the same general feeling of: How can we go off and have a good time when our troops are at war? No one has come up with a good answer. I will put on a good face and do my best as my kids are so excited about the cruise. I wish world circumstances were different, or that we were at least going on a different week.
I'm also reasonably confident if you could ask the troops they would say, give us your prayers and your good wishes and go enjoy your families. A friend of mine has a son who at last known location was right on the border with Iraq. He's a marine. She's beside herself, but also wishing us a good vacation. It's funny how we can compartmentalize. So I'll say my prayers for marine Scott Musselman, and put on a good face for my kids and look forward to seeing all of you on the cruise.
Safe travels, kim

I was asked at school today ~ "Are you cancelling your cruise?" We plan to go ahead....we flew to WDW in Oct. right after the 9/11. I am looking forward to the cruise! We are concerned about our troops in the Middle East, and support them 100%. I remember living in Alaska and going up to the mountains in case of a nuclear attack ( if that didn't happen, we would have frozen and the bears would have eaten us)..........going to numerous masses during the Cuban Missle Crisis.......bomb shelters, the Vietnam War..... lliving in Panama during tense times ...... Did I age myself ?(I was in kdg. in Alaska). To be truthful, I am much more afraid of some idiot running a stop light, or being in a Handy Andy for the daily diet coke during a robbery, then being on the cruise.

TOMORROW IS MY LAST DAY TO WORK!!
Thursday I get to do everything I should have been working on for weeks! How can you obsess on something but not really get anything accomplished? I can't believe we are so close. So Thursday will be packing, stopping mail buying all the items I will remember as I pack:rolleyes:
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone Sunday at 11 in the promanade lounge.
I feel a bit guilty looking forward to this trip while our country will be at war, but all we can do is gone on with our lives :D
Kim

It seems to me that Disney stands for everything that the war is intended to preserve for us - "Making our dreams come true". We are so lucky to be able to live in a free society. We need to pray for the soldiers but also celebrate our way of life.

Since we're sailing Sat., it didn't seem right for our thread to drop down to the bottom of the page. :) It looks like the weather at Port Canaveral is going to be nice on Sat. I'm getting so excited, I can hardly work!!!!!

And the weather looks good on the islands (so far anyway) too! Highs in the upper 70's - 80's - lows in the 70's.

I've got the kids clothes packed - I'm working on mine. I have to finish tonight as I may be working all day tomorrow.

I'm sure that everyone knows how quickly things may change as far as security at the airports. I'm going to do my best to be at Portland's airport at least 2 hrs. early if not earlier. There's supposed to be a huge storm at Denver - I hope you're not flying through there, Sigafoos.

Not only are we ahead of those fall cruisers on the boards, we're about to beat them onboard the ship also! I'm looking forward to meeting you all Sunday!

WE ARE PACKED!!!!!!!! A major feat.....especially for two people who take two carry-ons to stay at WDW for a week. We have four suitcases, two big, and two little. None of them are really full, full, however, I hope to add a few goodies from the trip.

We leave tomorrow - right after school - will finish all sub plans during a long movie - Disney of course! We will be in Orlando for an extra day........ummmmm lunch at the Disney Village.

I can't believe the cruise is here--I have to keep pinching myself.

Tomorrow at this time we will be leaving for the airport! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

Tonight we have to finish packing - no matter how long it takes. Hope I'm in bed by midnight!
