3/17 Update Day 13 of our 14 day! DISUnplugged PODCAST CRUISE and a rainy week at WDW

Hi! I am an immigrant from Jamie's trip report. Loving yours too! :goodvibes

In fact, you have both influenced me to sign up for Podcast 2.0!! It looks like such a blast!

Can't wait to meet you in December 2010!

So, we have a few hours to kill before the Martini Tasting. I believe now the time is 12:00pm, so we decide to hand out some of our fish extender gifts.

I show Jason the secret deck! I found out! We look out and decide that we will not get off the boat at Nassau day.

Here is what we saw of Nassau from the secret deck:
Nassu-1.jpg

(I am really happy that we stayed on the ship)

We got one floor of the ship done with our fish extender gifts and decide that we should go get some food before the Martini and Wine Tasting we have this afternoon!

We head up to Deck 9 and Jason goes and gets some Disney Chicken Nuggets while I go get some drinks from the fountain machine. While I am walking to the machine, Corey (webmastercorey) from the podcast, sees me and waves me over. He knows I am a DISer because we all wear our lanyards around the ship so we can recognize each other. Oh my word!! I don't even know what to say, but Corey is so nice! He asks me where I am from and he could tell I am from Chicago! He said he could hear my accent?!?! I didn't even know I had one? I talk about Michigan, since at the time, Julie said on a recent show, "What is there to do in Michigan anyway?" I tell her that I posted on the thread a ton of stuff to do in Michigan! I tell them, that they should really try to go to Mackinaw Island because they have really good salt water taffy and fudge. This got Julie and Corey's mom talking about candy! Julie and Corey are so friendly and down to the earth!!

Ok...so I head over to Goofy's Galley. This quick service is very healthy and yummy!! I got a chicken wrap thing, and I picked up some fruit, so we will have something to eat for breakfast or the middle of the night if we are hungry (we never did eat the fruit, but at least it made for some entertainment at the martini tasting).....this is how Jason ended up with fruit in his pants! I head back to Jason and he asks me what the heck took you sooo long! I told him I just had a brush with some celebrities, and I proceed to tell him about my conversation with Corey and Julie!

It is close to 2pm so we head down to Diversions for some Martini Tasting. Jason and I stand at the door for a lil while and the accent lady who will be doing the Martini Tasting just gives me a sultry smile. We decide to go in....

We end up sitting at a booth and shortly Jaime comes over to join us and then Robin comes in a little later.

Here are the beautiful things laid out in front of each of us.....oh and did I mention....we have an extra place setting!
DSC01698.jpg

(Dodie's picture)

Alright, so with every good Martini Tasting we start with the strongest first! The dirty martini, the host talks about the origin of the martini and our table is talking amongst ourselves and we are pretty much tuning her out the rest of the time. Jason is allergic to olives so I get his martini and Jaime doesn't like it so I drink hers, I think I got to drink Robins too! The water boy comes around to fill up our waters and he tells us to drink the extra place setting! Jaime hand me that other Dirty Martini over there! What can I say....I don't like to let things go to waste!

We drink the 2nd one....hmmm was this the cosmo or the apple martini, I really don't remember. I remember thinking that the apple martini tasted pretty much like apple pucker and Jaime didn't really like it, so I asked if I could have the apple martini on the extra place setting.

The cosmo was a cosmo I had one before.....and am not really a fan.

The pineapple martini was just ok, I don't really like pineapples...but honestly, by this time did it really matter that I don't like pineapples?

The chocolate martini was just ok...at this time the pretty lady was asking us to come up and make martini's.
She asks has anyone had a pomegranate martini before? And of course I shout out! I HAVE!!!

So she asks me "Would you like to come make one?".....now my sober self would have been very shy and would have told someone else to do it, but at this point I wasn't really sober anymore, so of course sure I will make one. I think the lady could tell that I wasn't sober anymore, and she wanted to get me drunker! I swear she made me pour the vodka into the shaker for what seemed to me to be about 5 minutes straight! I had never made a martini before, so she was coaxing me though everything, I felt like such a novice following Tracy and her Whippletini!! Geesh!

See how pathetic I look, I don't even know how to hold the shaker!
P5110477.jpg

Well, at least I got a HUGE, STRONG martini out of the deal!

Before & After:

.....And we have a wine tasting to go to next....well, Jason is just sitting at the wine tasting and being my babysitter, I am actually drinking the wine, will I survive?!?!

I guess I have to come out of lurkdome sometime, so why not now! :lmao:

Actually I came right over to read your trip report once Jamie posted the link and I am LOVING every single line of it!!!! Thank you so much for letting all of us relive your adventures.
We will go on our very first Disney cruise in just 4 weeks, so reading all there is to do and see is a HUGE help!
Can't wait for the next installment!

Greetings from Austria! :flower3:

Soooooo many things to say.... :)

Cruise Director Christiaan... how cute was he?

Mushroom Risotto... YUM!

Desserts at Palo... I will say it again... I would marry that little chocolate thing and divorce it just to marry it again. Sooooo good.

Sheesh... the kids decided to talk to me and I forgot what else I was going to say.

Like I said before I am writing this report as I go along....this weekend was extremely busy for me. We hung out with Ann (maziezoe) and her family yesterday and went to a Coldplay concert last night, and then spent all of today again with Ann and her family. Hopefully I will be adding another chapter either tomorrow night or by the latest on Tuesday night! :thumbsup2

We had such a good time with you this weekend!! Always an adventure! Only 12 more days and we can have another adventure! :)

I love the before and after pics, especially your fun meter button :thumbsup2
Between yours and Jaime's TRs, the martini tasting was really well covered :goodvibes
I like how both of you overlooked my wife and Todd becoming a little too friendly... but I overlooked that too

Those martinis look so yummy!! And loved the before/after pics of you and Jason. I am basically shy when not sober but very talkative and ready to jump up and raise my hand to volunteer for just about anything when I've had a couple of drinks.

Thank you! :goodvibes I'm still not done with the Dells - it's a slow work in progress as part of the PTR. Henry just loved that red car, and he loves his lady friend too! The Mom of the crew there actually watches Henry while I'm at work, and everyday we drive up to their house and Henry shouts the little girl's name.

I am originally from a suburb of Chicago (Bolingbrook), but have lived in Minnesota pretty much since 4th grade, with a 1.5 year stint in NYC. Right now, we are in Central Minnesota

I can't wait to meet you either!! The more I read about the cruise, the more excited I am! I will try to hang around on the Podcast boards some too and attempt to get to know ya'll a bit better!

Oh, and about your update - LOVE the Imagination Movers on the big screen! LOL "Imagination Movers, ya gotta think about it...."

Awww...your son has his 1st crush?!? I will have to go back and read some more of your Wisconsin Dells TR!!

Drats too bad you don't still live in the Chicagoland area! I live in Arlington Heights, I don't know if you remember where that is in relation to Bolingbrook, but it is not too far at all!

Oh yes! The cruise is going to be fun, fun fun! Less than 500 days!! :goodvibes

We  the Imagination Movers, hopefully we will go see them on their next tour! :woohoo:

I am sooo happy that Jaime posted the link to my TR! I got so many readers thanks to that! Oh I love that you all are reliving my adventures it is fun for me to relive them too!!

Have a fantastic time on your cruise! How long of a cruise are you taking?

I can't believe I have a reader from Austria! it's a small world after all! :dance3:

Soooooo many things to say.... :)

Mushroom Risotto... YUM!

We had such a good time with you this weekend!! Always an adventure! Only 12 more days and we can have another adventure! :)

We had a fantastic time with you this weekend too! Thanks so much for letting us borrow your dry shirts! Aaron had lots of fun too! He keeps saying Logan, lets go! It is nice that we like each other and our kids like each other too! :yay::yay::yay:

And for those of you who don't know.....this is Ann...and Ann and Jaime live pretty close to me, but I had to go on the podcast cruise to actually have a long conversation with either of them!

I like how both of you overlooked my wife and Todd becoming a little too friendly... but I overlooked that too

Who is your wife? :rotfl::lmao:

Ok, just in case someone doesn't know aaronmckie is my husband Jason!

Those martinis look so yummy!! And loved the before/after pics of you and Jason. I am basically shy when not sober but very talkative and ready to jump up and raise my hand to volunteer for just about anything when I've had a couple of drinks.

Yes the martinis were very yummy!! I am the same way when drinking....just wait I do something very :headache: during the wine tasting....

So...yes my husband reminds me that Todd and I were a little too friendly after the martini tasting....I do not recall this!

We head out to an area by the shops for an impromptu "Ask Tracy" session. On our way Jaime and I stop to take a picture of us standing on our hometowns back home! Too funny that we had to come all the way to the Podcast cruise to actually get a real friendship created!
2323232327Ffp43354nu3235588WSNRCG32.jpg

(BTW I am borrowing some of Jaime's pictures, I hope she doesn't mind! I think she was my picture taker for half of this cruise!)

So we are at the "Ask Tracy" session and all I remember from this was.....

1. Tracy asking us what we would like to see differently on PCC 2.0. Then I remember at one point she disappaeraed and it turned into a "Bill Tells All" session

2. Tracy telling us about the 2 for 1 drink specials at the bar (on the way to the Heads Up Bar) on Castaway Cay and that we are getting a free drink coupon at the Heads Up Bar. (Of course my ears were perked up for this one)

3. Walt's disapproving look...I am sorry Grandpa :(.
2323232327Ffp4336nu3235588WSNRCG323.jpg

(I don't know why but when I see Walt I think of my Grandpa that died when I was 5...I don't know if I think they look alike...or if I just have the two in the same file in my brain, since my Grandpa took me to Disney World when I was 2)

4. Wanting to meet Candy (experiment627) and her husband (L.E.Ott).....but being way too embarrassed to have this be our 1st meeting, remember how many martini's I had just drank?!?!

So, now is time for us to leave the session and head to the wine tasting, but wait! I still have a little martini in my glass, someone tells me to finish it! But I know when enough is enough! I still have wine tasting to get through!!
Todd helps me finish it!
2323232327Ffp4336nu3235588WSNRCG-1.jpg

2323232327Ffp43363nu3235588WSNRCG32.jpg

( I don't know if that is a look of "wow that drink is strong", or a look of "come on why can't you finish it!")

Wine Tasting

4:00 pm (I think it was 4)
Jason and I head back to Diversions and we grab the booth that we got out of a little bit ago. Soon others come and grab the booth with us.....a nice older couple from St. Louis, gosh I wish I remembered their names, she was super nice and fun! She put up with me...but I was trying to be as good as I possibly could be. Judy and Kim (chiurugeon) were also at our booth. It was fun pretending to be all sophisticated at the wine tasting and swirling the glass and looking for sediments, while I was beyond tipsy. A lot of the older crowd came to the wine tasting and they really were trying to learn something, but the booth with Kevin (yes that Kevin) was sitting behind me and they were kind of loud, so some of the crowd kept shhhhing them....I was happy to know that I kept my quiet and I did very well. Jason was proud of me! We also got a really cool pin, that said Wine Tasting from stem to stern for taking part in this tasting.

When the tasting was convening Kevin had some prizes to give away, so he went up to the front of the room, which was right next to our booth, and had a trivia contest. I don't really remember any of the questions that were asked (I am sorry, but by this point I had alot to drink). I do remember him asking when is John's birthday and I said April, then March, then Febuary, and I said 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th.....I think it is one of those days....well anyway, I don't know if Kevin felt sorry for me or what, but he let me win the prize for knowing John the Genius' birthday. I got some DCL magnets and dry erase board.

Then Kevin asks if anyone has a good question for the audiance and I eagerly SHOUT OUT! "When's my birthday!?!?" DOH! I knew right after I said it, that this was beyond dumb! Kevin just gave me a disapproving look, and after that moment, I never did have the courage to introduce myself formally to Kevin.

5:00 pm
We head back to our room, and I can barely stand! I decide to lay down and I fall asleep for about a hour nap. I wake up, and I am still pretty woozy.

6:15 pm
Tonight is Toy Story The Musical....I don't really remember much of this musical, other than the song The Claw, The Claw! I was sleeping on and off through out it, but it seemed really cute. By the end of the musical I felt much better, we head downstairs and get ready for formal night!

Tonight is Parrot Cay- Island Dinner (I really thought this dinner was going to be bad, as a lot of DISers booked Palo this night) Lori and Rick booked Palo tonight and we had the table to ourselves! Before dinner Jason (menshacorp) comes and introduces himself to us! That was really cool!

Bring on the food!

Jason's look of....why do you have to keep taking pictures? (because I am doing a TR when we get back silly)
Jason orders the Melon Mojito Bacardi Rum, Midori, Lime Juice, Sugar Syrup, Mint Leaves and Soda Water, again $5.50!
and for the appetizer:
Jamaican-Marinated Chicken Tenderloins in a sizzling spicy Jerk sauce with a Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing
100_3392.jpg

I order the Baked Crab Martinique Jumbo Lump Crab baked in a creamy Cheese Sauce served with colorful Tortilla and Plantain Chips
100_3393.jpg

(you cannot go wrong when you see Crab and creamy cheese sauce in the same line!...this was good!!)

Time for our soup/salad:

Jason orders the: Cold Cream of Mango and Papaya flavored with Passion Fruit
I order: Cream of Green Asparagus with Crabmeat and Asparagus
100_3394.jpg

(can you tell which one is which? Yeah! More crab for me!)

Our entrees: (since our tablemates are not here tonight, I am not embarrased and I order two entrees!)

Jason's: Mixed Grill Grilled Sirloin Steak, Lamb Chop, Bacon-wrapped Sausage, and Jumbo Shrimp on Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus, and Grilled Tomato with a Cabernet-Mushroom Sauce
100_3397.jpg

(this was good, well the parts I tried! He let me try some...and of course I got the Shrimp)

I order: Island-Spiced Grilled Rib-Eye of Beef Topped with handmade spiced Butter, Corn on the Cob and Double-baked Potato
100_3396.jpg

(eek! Not very good! The corn on the cob is way over done, the baked potato tasted like a metal tray, and the Rib Eye was pretty fatty...good thing I ordered two entrees!)

My second entree: Pan-Seared Grouper with Baby Shrimp in Lemon Butter served with a Saffron-Herb Basmati Rice and Snow Peas
100_3395.jpg

(the rice was a little dry, but much better then the other entree!!)

Dessert:

Jason isn't feeling very good...so he skips on dessert.

I order Chocolate S’More Vanilla Cake Crackling Marshmallow Crust on Vanilla Cake filled with Chocolate, served with Dulce De Leche Sauce
100_3398.jpg

(this was pretty good....better than our sweet temptations from last night!)

Oh and here is a picture of us at formal night.....(a good friend of mine, Jaime, taught all of us to take redneck photos of the monitor ;). So instead of paying 20 dollars for this picture I snapped it from the screen!)

Copyof100_3466.jpg

It is kinda late and don't want to miss Wonderquest.....when we were at Wavebands the night before Tissa compared Wonderquest to an adult scavenger hunt...and I LOVE SCAVENGER HUNTS! We don't go back to our room to change out of our formal clothes, we just run down to Wavebands!!

 It was Kevin's fault. We were very quiet until he showed up.

It was fun when Kevin joined your table, I really didn't care much about the educational part of the presentation anyways. I don't think it was that loud, but some are more sensitive than others.
I was proud that Shanan wasn't the giggly drunk during the presentation that I thought she'd be :woohoo:

Durn it, I forgot to quote Jen (DVCSince02) when replying... that's what I get for rarely posting anymore :headache:

I laughed out loud when I read about you shouting out "WHEN IS MY BIRTHDAY?" :rotfl: Oh that is so funny! I would have busted up laughing in person if I had been there and probably gotten the disapproving look as well. ;)

Todd helps me finish it!

It was the latter.;)

Wine Tasting

4:00 pm (I think it was 4)

Well at least I wasn't the only one to have about the same recollections....I sat with Jeff and Val (OKWLover & OKWLover2) and Kim (TickledTink33) and some other folks....but my memory is hazy as well. This was less fun than the martini tasting in my opinion. And all of the speakers seemed to be whispering. I did find out that I am not a big fan of wine though. I felt rather embarrassed after talking with Kevin after the tasting. At least looking back at the pictures, I feel embarrassed.

I think it would have been better if they would have done the wine tasting first. There was more to learn with that and once you all were drunk :rolleyes1 no one wanted to learn. On my notes for next time.

::yes:: Yep, that's right! :rotfl:

I knew I had to pace myself with the drinking, I did not want to miss anything on the cruise! I am glad you didn't let the liquor go to waste though! There was more than one speaker? :rotfl2: Where was I? :confused3 Ooooo where are the pictures of you after the wine tasting talking to Kevin?!?!

I think it would have been better if they would have done the wine tasting first. There was more to learn with that and once you all were drunk :rolleyes1 no one wanted to learn. On my notes for next time.

Oh yes! That would be wonderful if they could do the wine tasting first! I even tried to take notes during the wine tasting....but I wasn't able to comprehend what I wrote! :lmao:

On another note, I hope Bill's surgery goes wonderful! I have been thinking about you!:flower3:

Spolier Alert! If you don't want to know what goes on with this game....go to the next chapter!

What time is it?!? Time to play Wonderquest. We are split into teams, and each team has to have at least one guy and one girl. Our team number is 8 and consists of Val (OKWLOVER2), Robin, Jaime, Jason, Myself, and Todd's roommate Chris.

At first the scavenger hunt is pretty tame......

Tissa says....show me a credit card...and you have to run up with the item and the team number. Show me some money.....show me 4 left shoes, we all whipped off our shoes and threw them at Jason! Show me a woman wearing men shoes, I run up with Jason's shoes on. Show me a man wearing women shoes, Jason runs up in my high heels! (That was fun!) Show me two men hand in hand skipping across the floor. Jason grabs Chris's hand and they are off! LOL!!!

Tissa asked for a sock with a hole in it, Jason says "I have a sock on with a hole in it!" But remembering back I swear that he didn't have a hole, and he had his sock in his mouth and he was tearing a hole in his sock with his teeth? Was this my imagination? I sure hope so!!

The very next item she wanted to see were ice cubes in the mouth, so Jason reaches across the table without asking and grabs ice out of Jaime's drink using the hand he just took his sock off with! Jaime turns to me and says is that the hand he just took his sock off with? I say Yes! And Jaime says oh well, the Alcohol will kill any bacteria and takes a drink!

Sometimes we didn't have an item that was called and Yvette was kind enough to share with us!

But before too long the items get a little risque!

Tissa asked for two belts, and Jason and Chris jump up and whip their belts off in 0.5 seconds! It was like a scene from a club after dark and we are on a Disney ship people! This is when I knew where the game was headed!

Show me...a man wearing women lipstick...and Jaime whips out her lipstick and I can't remember if Jason applied it himself....(which would be hilarious) or if Jaime put it on him (which would have still been hilarious)...maybe I just put it on him, but I really don't remember.
P5110006.jpg

Show me a woman wearing a man's shirt...so Jason had a button down on and it was hard getting the buttons off, at one point he actually ripped his shirt off! At least the rip is at the bottom so it is tucked into his pants! ;)
P5110004.jpg

Show me a man wearing a woman's bra! I thought for a half second..then I jumped up and started trying to shimmy my bra off my body.....this was a hard task to do....I got it around my hips and then....
P5110007.jpg

(Jason came in for the kill!)
P5110008.jpg

Too funny! I really didn't know that Jason and I are so competitive!

I blame us sitting too far away for not winning!

Soon the cowboy hats came out and it was time to country line dance....
100_3399.jpg

Contrary to popular belief... Jason and I left because we don't care for country music....not for another reason!

When we got back to the room we are greeted by this
100_3401.jpg

I decide to finish handing out our fish extender gifts...Jason promises me that if I do the fish extender gifts by myself while he relaxes, I will get a foot rub when I get back to the room! When I find Todd's door I was a little sad that he wasn't at Wonderquest, so I write..."Shanan was here, where were you!?!" It took me an hour and a half to finish handing out the gifts! I wonder how long it will take on PCC 2.0?!?!

Before bed I find the cards to order room service breakfast that you just hang on your door. We order for the next morning. And we set the alarm for 8 am! We want to be the first ones off the ship, tomorrow is Castaway Cay day!!!

Night Night..it is now close to 1 am

[post=32981121]NOT YOUR AVERAGE CLICK[/POST]

I love how people remember things differently - or remember things other people don't. I forgot about the 2 men skipping. Yes, Jason already had the hole in his sock. My lipstick was like a lip gloss and I swabbed his face with it. And I forgot he ripped his shirt!

Hi Jaime! I hope that chapter brought a smile to your face! That sure was a GREAT night! It is funny what other people remember .....

I am here for you if you need anything at all! ((HUGS))

You had me ROLLING with this update!! :lmao:

I can just picture the frenzy of everyone getting into the game and doing whatever it takes, including eating socks, and undressing! :rotfl:

Did everyone applaud Jason for actually wearing the bra??!!!
