3-1-1 question

so in other words if you have any of that stuff it is best put in checked luggage if at all possible?

Not necessarily. If it's valuable, breakable, or something you'll need in the first 24 hours you'll need to put it in your carry on.

I can not imagine a bottle of liquid foundation that is larger than 100ml, so you should be fine putting it in your 3-1-1 bag.

Well, that's up to you. I don't feel it's best to put those things into checked, as long as you have 3.4 or fewer ounces of it (as already discussed, this means a container that is marked with that or a smaller amount). I don't want my perfume being dropped on the tarmac and broken so it ruins my clothes and everyone else's. I WANT my mascara with me, not sent on a side-trip to Costa Rica. Same with my nail polish, if it's a nail polish-y type of trip. I want my 3.4 oz containers full of my sunscreen WITH ME (I often have one entire 311 baggie filled with those...we each get a baggie and my son doesn't really have the need for a baggie, so he's the sunscreen baggie carrier, LOL) just in case my big sunscreen bottles (double bagged of course!) in my luggage doesn't get there for the first day or two.

So for me, no, I don't feel it's best to check things in containers 3.4 oz or smaller.
I wasn't refering to my makeup/cleanser etc but things like Voltaren, shampoo, and conditioner--bigger bottles--just easier to put them into checked luggage. We are having garden grocer deliver sunscreen-except for our initial small bottle.

Thank you everyone for all your help

Bigger bottles must go in your checked luggage.

Medications are exempt from the 3-1-1 rule, so I'd put the Voltaren in it's own bag. You have to declare it, but it's size doesn't matter and it does not have to be in the 3-1-1 bag. I'd never put a medication in a checked bag. There are too many TSA agents with sticky fingers.

Just FYI: contact lens solution is also exempted from the 3-1-1 rule. Put it in a seperate bag with your Voltaren. I always have my contact solution, Victoza pen, steroid cream, eye drops, etc in their own bag, since they would not count against the 3-1-1 rule.

my hubby will probably have an extra carry-on bag just for medical supplies so Volteren could go in it. And yes no medical supplies or medicine in checked luggage!!

we are so used to driving to Florida that we never thought of any of this. lol

I will say I must have worst luck in TSA agents not knowing my contact solution is medical I can bring jumbo bottle with me. I have it in tote with my shoes etc. so it's out in open for world to see.

Voltaren is medical. You can carry it on because of that. I wouldn't take the chance of having it in checked luggage and being misrouted/lost.
