Help me justify the DxDP. :goodvibes DH and I are going on a 10th anniversary (Leaving the kids with my parents. Free babysitting & vacation away.. Woohoo!!) trip next March and I've been pouring over ADR's. We're going in mid March, so I'm worried that it might be busy and harder to eat at CS meals for lunch or dinner. I'm thinking 2TS meals a day would be nice, especially since we've not been in over 20 years and all those food porn photos look so good. :rotfl2:

But then I think about DxDP for 7 nights is (right now, obviously might go up a bit for next year) 72*2*7=1008. $1000 for 2 people to eat for a week. OMG. I can feed our family of 6 for like 2+ months on that. But it seems like even if I go OOP for 2 meals a day (assuming 3 or 4 signatures in there... it is our anniversary, after all :) ) I'd be at that anyway, right? And that doesn't even count all the snacks, etc.

So it is generally a good deal to get the DxDP if you plan 2 TS meals a day (assuming steak instead of burgers, etc), right? Is it WAY too much food?

Btw, only reason I'm contemplating this is because our stay at SSR villa is totally free.. gift from the ILs. So I've spent $700 on the plane tickets, around $600 I think on PH tickets. So I'm only at $1300. Even if I add 1k for food, I'm still at under $2500 for a very nice vacation away from the kids. :woohoo:

I think alot has to do with what you enjoy. We did the Deluxe plan as a family in November - DH loved it. We ate at California Grill twice, Cinderella's table, Artist point ... I would say that by reducing the number of TS meals by using extra credits for CA Grill etc it improved our experience - by the end the kids we're asking "We have to stop and eat again!?" TS takes alot out of your day but if it's just the two of you - do it - slow down and enjoy each other's company

To me the DDP is a lot of food.

If you enjoy eating at restaurants, then the upgrade is worth it. I rarely eat out (fast food or restaurants) so the DDP is so nice.

I have heard that as long as 2/3rds of your meals are TS then the DxDP is worth the cost of upgrading. I would throw in some 2TS credit meals and use some snack credits for breakfast or lunch. Don't forget about the tips when adding in upgrading to DxDP. Some places have the tip included like dinner shows and CRT.

Hey Mandi :wave2:

We are going later this month, and while we are on the regular DDP, we are eating like DxDP since we are spending a few days of our trip at Universal.
I will let you know how it goes for us, as I know how you tour DL :)

Nice to see you here!

I do worry about the sheer amount of food. I wish Disney offered a dining plan with 2TS meals a day, instead of 3. That would rock. :goodvibes

Julie  I am totally looking forward to hearing all about your trip. You'll have to call me when you get back and tell me if any of our discussed restaurant choices suck. :rotfl:

If you want to do some of the 2 TS restaurants then it is probably a smart move for you, if your not all that concerned about that and think that it is way too much food for you, then go with the regular plan, have a CS breakfast or lunch with a sanck then your sit down dinner.

If its a busy time of year, you wont be saving time at the TS locations vs the CS, as the restuarants will be packed too.

Your scenario though is one that probably makes sense 'food wise' to do, if thats where your interest for this trip lye.
