Well, it's official - we're in the home stretch - ONLY TWO WEEKS TO GO!!! (Give or take a few days, depending on folks' departure dates.)
With that, I just thught I'd pass along a few words of advice I've learned over my past 15 years as a Floridian...
I know September is the beginning of Fall for most of the rest of the US, but down here it's still summer, and it's H-O-T, HOT!!
-Slather on that sunscreen from sun-up to sun-down. One of my worst burns happened at 6pm at an outdoor restaurant. Hate the way sunscreen feels? Try Neutrogena - any formula labeled "breatheable" or "non-greasy". I can wear these all day and be comfortable. Don't forget to put sunscreen under light colored, cotton clothing. Really, the sun will go right through a white Tshirt.
-Wear loose, lightweight clothing. Anything the air can get up under and move will feel more comfortable than stuff that fits close to the body.
-Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Start drinking water before you feel thirsty, and not too much all at once. Keep a water bottle with you and sip throughout the day.
-Feeling light-headed, a little dizzy and kind of confused? Get thee into the AC, sit down, hydrate and rest. This is heat exhaustion, and left untreated, you're on your way to heat stroke. And that spells doom for your long-awaited vacation at WDW.
-Keep a close eye on your little and not-so-little ones. It's been my expereience that they don't speak up when they're overheated and dehydrated.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy trip to the Mouse!
