2nd Week of September Crew Check-in Here!

thats cool so my trip from sept 12-17 shouldnt be to bad, lets just pray for taht good weather!!!!

Count us in as part of the 2nd week of September crowd.

We'll be there Sept. 9-16, staying at WL. Don't have our plan for parks and dining (have them made but they are at home) but I do know we're doing LeCellier on the 15th.

I'm now trying to decide if I want to buy tickets to MNSSHP for the 15th. It's our last night and we might not be back this time of year again. Seems like a lot of people are going to be there.

Question about the Mickey Heads...I got a bunch from HD over the last few weeks, but since they don't peel off, what do you guys do with them? Punch a hole in the card and hang from either a ribbon or yarn? I want to put them on our stroller so that others will recognize us but haven't figure out how to do it yet.

We are at OKW 9/11/ thru 9/18. We are six, and I was wondering if anyone was planning a Grand Gathering?? I have just begun to read about this, and don't know too much about it? Anyone planning one?

I glued 2 cards back to back, wrote on them, and laminated them. You can get the laminating paper from Walmart. (They also have the paper at Staples, but it costs more, for less sheets.) I poked a hole in it, and put a piece of string through it.

Hope this helps!
I'll be there the 9/8 to 9/14. See you there.

Your lime green Mickeys look great! Mine are similar. I have HD green Mickeys glued back-to-back just like you did and have "DIS/TGM" written on each one. Two of them have glitter decorations that dd made. We are going to have them laminated so they'll hold up in the rain. :thumbsup2

You know what? I started to do some glitter, but thought it might get too messy. But I forgot that laminating them would solve that problem. Hmmmm . . . sounds like Saturday will be arts and crafts day!

I think the Magic has gone to my head and affected my ability to think logically pixiedust: .... I just switched from CBR to CR! Okay, it's sort of logical - for $90 more, I get to stay at a resort I've dreamt of since 1977, and won't have to deal with the car while touring the World alone with DS4 (we're only doing the monorail parks). How's that for rationalization?! :cool1:

SOOO... my plan now is:
9/9 morning at EP, lunch at Sunshine Seasons
afternoon at CR pool
evening at EP (or stay at CR if DS is too tired)

9/10 morning at MK, lunch at Concourse Steakhouse
afternoon, drive home

Thanks for the pictures Glenda. Now another question...I see that behind the background paper of the head, there is lime green on the top and bottom. What is that behind it? It looks like you were able to find some sort of lime green backer so that the heads are trimmed? Or am I just a dope?

Also, I'm assuming the laminating paper can be used w/o any sort of laminating machine? How do you seal it? Some sort of heat source?

We'll definitely be looking for heads on this trip. And I'm also looking at ordering some shirts from Razzle for MNSSHP for me and dh.

The background is a paint chip from the BEHR paint section next to the Disney section. I walked over to their green section, and picked one that closely matched the Mickey. I put the Mickey paint chip on top of the BEHR chip. AND I traced around the Mickey Head with a black sharpee marker.

The Laminating paper needs no heat, no machine. To me it just looks like "glorified" sheets of tape. You peel the backing off, lay the Mickey on it, then do it for the other side. The directions are on the back of the package. You get 10 sheets. I did about 3 Mickeys per sheet.

OH! and the curly green "string" I got in the wrapping paper section. It's one bundle that you would stick on a present insted of a bow. I just cut some of it off and used it. After I bought it, I did find a spool of it though. Neither one should be over a dollar.

I hope I explained everything clearly. The Mickey in the picture is my first try. So if I get a chance I may "plus" it before I go! HA! We'll see. I would like to make it a bit fancier though. Hope this helps!

Very clever, Gmax! Very clever, indeed!

I'm also going to try to see HoP at MK before it closes on the 10th, and I'll be at Crystal Palace on the 12th at 6:30. Maybe you'll see me on your way out!

Glenda, that is excellent. Thanks so much for all of the information and instructions. I'm going to take a run over to HD this weekend and see if I can find the green Behr chips, then I'll hit Walmart for the laminating paper and the ribbon.

So if during the week fo 9/9-9/16 anyone sees a family of four with two boys (8.5 and 4) who look nothing like each other (older one dark hair, eyes and TAN! and little one blond, pale skin and blue eyes) with Mickey Heads on their red Maclaren stroller, that would be us. Stop off and say hello.

I'm also going to buy the tickets to MNSSHP today for Friday, Sept. 15. Older ds now wants to be Willie Wonka but younger ds can't seem to decide. He wants to be anything that comes up on my computer as I scan through different costumes...Batman, Spiderman, Darth Vader, The Thing, Superman, Red Power Ranger, etc. I told him that he'd better decide and pick one so I can either find it or order it online so we'll get it in time. We leave 2 weeks from Saturday so times a wastin'.

Well, it's official - we're in the home stretch - ONLY TWO WEEKS TO GO!!! (Give or take a few days, depending on folks' departure dates.)
With that, I just thught I'd pass along a few words of advice I've learned over my past 15 years as a Floridian...

I know September is the beginning of Fall for most of the rest of the US, but down here it's still summer, and it's H-O-T, HOT!! :sunny:
-Slather on that sunscreen from sun-up to sun-down. One of my worst burns happened at 6pm at an outdoor restaurant. Hate the way sunscreen feels? Try Neutrogena - any formula labeled "breatheable" or "non-greasy". I can wear these all day and be comfortable. Don't forget to put sunscreen under light colored, cotton clothing. Really, the sun will go right through a white Tshirt.
-Wear loose, lightweight clothing. Anything the air can get up under and move will feel more comfortable than stuff that fits close to the body.
-Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Start drinking water before you feel thirsty, and not too much all at once. Keep a water bottle with you and sip throughout the day.
-Feeling light-headed, a little dizzy and kind of confused? Get thee into the AC, sit down, hydrate and rest. This is heat exhaustion, and left untreated, you're on your way to heat stroke. And that spells doom for your long-awaited vacation at WDW. :faint:
-Keep a close eye on your little and not-so-little ones. It's been my expereience that they don't speak up when they're overheated and dehydrated.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy trip to the Mouse!

We get on the road for the long drive from Chicagoland to the World in only two weeks!!!!

I am almost all packed. I have purchased ponchos, glow in the dark necklaces and pop-up hampers in anticipation of this trip.

My husband is looking for a Disney "12 step" program for me! lol!

I'm pulling the kids out of school for this trip. Disney will be very educational for them! Or else!

All I need now is a hurricane to come and mess up my well laid plans. But I hear that a Disney Hurricane is not that bad!

Get ready. Get set. Go!!!!

WHAT!!!!! You're almost ALL packed! I guess I'd better get my butt off this computer!!! :moped:

Is anyone else already too excited to sleep? I am! My brain is going a million miles an hour, thinking Disney Thoughts all day and all night.
