Chloes 10th birthday today.
Weather forecast - rain and more rain !!!!!!
Up at 6.30 and Chloe has lots of pressies and cards to undo. We brought them all with us, hidden in various cases!
Her best present fell out of her birthday card from me and DW - Tickets for Discovery Cove! she was so surprised - All mine and DW's pent up excitement is now released and we all talk dolphins for ages !! It has been so hard to keep it a secret from Chloe and Jack as we booked this over 6 months ago.
Looked outside and the weather forecast is spot on (as usual.) It is absolutely pouring down.
Set off for the Contempory as it's Chef Mickeys for a character breakfast this morning. Fairly easy drive despite the rain and we park right next to the hotel.
It's the first time we've been in this hotel and it is amazing - the trains running 3ft above your heads is a little strange because they are so quiet you don't hear them coming. Straight in for our table and we are soon joining in the fun and stuffing ourselves silly with the wonderful food.
Our waitress is terrific - she keeps Chloe updated with a running countdown until we celebrate her birthday. Then it's here and the napkins are being waved above our heads and characters spring from everywhere. Chloe's birthday cake arrives and everyone claps and cheers for her. Once the furore has died down a little we continue to eat until we can't fit any more in !! I took lots of photos and DW videoed loads as well.
Had a quick look around the shops.
Determined not to let the rain spoil anything we set off for Ripleys on I-Drive. Both kids have been looking forward to this as they are both avid watchers of 'Ripleys Believe it or Not' on TV. It didn't disappoint. The exhibits are great and a perfect mix of fascination and revultion! The crooked room with the pool table is great although it makes me feel queasy. Don't miss one of the first exhibits which shows how to roll your tongue (If you've been to Ripleys you will know what I am talking about - if not make sure you do this and have fun trying!!!)
Popped down to the Pointe Orlando and had a quick look around - DW shackles me to stop me going in Hooters!!
Had to go into Johnny Rockets as it looked great. We weren't hungry after the CB this morning so we just have shakes. Wow. They are gorgeous. Also had a look in FAO Schwarz which was fun but very expensive after seeing all the toys in Wal-Mart.
Back to the room and a change of clothes before we head off to the Pirates Dinner Adventure.
Pick up DW's niece and boyfriend on the way as it's still pouring with rain.
Good show (I preferred Arabian Nights, which we did last time.)
Once again Chloe has to stand up so everyone can give her a birthday cheer and we have a lovely birthday cake as well.
DW's niece Jenny works for a travel company and we got our Pirates tickets for half price. I don't think I would pay full price for it - a bit too expensive for what it is IMHO.
