I’ve been checking navigators for recent 4 night cruises on the Dream and it looks like they have consistently been doing Pluto’s Pajama Party in the Oceaneer’s Club at 9:30pm on the first night. If you have 2nd dining, I’m assuming you don’t take your kids to the MDR in their pjs? I don’t think mine would even want to do that if it was ok. So I’m thinking the best bet for that night is that we need to skip using Dine n Play the first night and instead one of us will need to step away from dinner, have the kids’ pjs with us and stop to change them in the restroom and then check them into the club and return to dinner? Is that about what other people do?

I would suggest feeding the kids early, either on deck (poolside quick serve) or Cabanas as a possibility. How old are they?

They are 6 and 7. Since it’s only 4 nights I don’t want them to miss one of the dining rooms altogether, so I probably will feed them something before dinner but still would prefer to take them to the MDR for a bit so they can experience it.

They don't have to wear pjs to enjoy the party. My dd doesn't always wear her pjs, sometimes she just wears whatever shirt and shorts she's had on during the day. They will have a blast at it, my dd has been to it 4 or 5 times, it's the one thing in the club she always wants to do. She's done it on the Wonder and Fantasy, sometimes it's been at 7:30 and sometimes it's been at 10.

When my kids did it on the Wonder, it was between seatings and they didn't wear their PJs. It wasn't a big deal not to be wearing PJ's.

I don’t have experience with that specific situation, but at least one or two nights every trip one of us has to step out from dinner. Either to grab something from our cabin or take one or more of the kids to the club or nursery. We usually do first seating, so no Dine and Play option.

ODS really loves the PJ Party and was looking forward to it this past trip, but it was the same time as Golden Mickey’s and he opted for the show. He’s always worn his pajamas although some kids don’t.

I’d probably either feed them early or go with the change on the way strategy. Shouldn’t be a big deal for one of you to walk them over.

We forgot my daughter's PJ's until the middle of dinner the night of the pajama party, so my older son ran up to get them for her. She did dine and play and put them on over dress and was fine with that.

It might be a lot easier to run them back to the stateroom and change there rather than sclepping all the PJs to dinner and changing in a restroom. You can lay the PJs on the bed ready to go and then quick change and back out the door. Bonus you won’t have to carry the dirty clothes with you either. You won’t have to worry about waiting your turn for a stall big enough to change in, plus they work to keep the bathrooms very clean and I’ve thought them the nicest public bathrooms out there but occasionally there is water (please god let it be water) on the floor and this way you wouldn’t have to play the balance game where you’re trying to change clothes without anything touching the floor.

As long as you’re hustling, stopping at the stateroom shouldn’t add more than 5 minutes to the plan to change in the restroom.

One thing: I do believe dine and play is now an option for main dining. At least it was on the Fantasy a year ago.

I don't think anyone would be bothered by kids that small in PJ's at late dinner, if they were willing to do it. If you are a family that dresses for dinner, another option would be for one parent to get up about 9 and go help the kids change, dropping them with the dine and play CM's as they come back to the dining room. They come to get the kids about 9:15.

We've done it! I brought DD's pajamas along to the MDR in my tote bag. DD ate quickly, then between courses I helped her change in the restroom and ran her over to the club to sign in. I was back for my entree!

I believe we did this because the PJ party started at 9:00, which was a few minutes before the Dine and Play counselors would be around. This likely varies by cruise, though.

In the future, I'd feed DD early (pool deck quick service or room service), sign her into the club before dinner, and just enjoy a fun dinner with DH. :)
