I am hosting the christmas party for my ds second grade class. I am need of an easy, cheap, fun and fast craft for the class any ideas?

Thank you

This is REALLY simple....my preschooler did it today. Have them twist red and white pipe cleaners together and then shape into a candy cane. Take a little bit of ribbon and a few jingle bells and tie it at the top. Looks cute on the christmas tree.

You use white construction paper and brown paint. The kids (with help) put one foot in brown paper and then make a print on the paper. Then after washing their foot they do the same with their hands placing them in the brown paint and then on top of the foot print. This now looks like a reindeeer and the kids can add eyes and a ribbon near the 'neck' These turn out cute and if done annually parents can see how big their kids are growing.

Another idea is to make a paper countdown chain with red and green construction paper. Usually one inch wide and 6" long is sufficeint.

I also love doing pony beads with the kids - though not expensive they do cost a little. There is a Santa pattern on www.MakingFriends.com site along with many other patterns. Look under bead patterns and then Holiday.

This year we just did fleece scarfs with all the kids. We use 6" wide of material and then cut the ends into strips one inch side and about 5 inches long. The kids 'curl' these by holding the top with one hand and pulling on the strand with the other. The ends curl nicely and the scarfs are nice and warm especially in cold weather. We use red fleece but there are tons of other options too.

I will try to think of others too.

If you are doing your crafts in the morning and have access to an oven, you can do the apple cinnamon ornaments.

My 2nd grader's Girl Scout troop made a reindeer using their shoe shape as the body using brown construction paper and hand shapes as antlers using red or orange paper. Or you can have them cut many handprints and make a wreath or tree.

My older girls made Christmas decorations using their class picture which the teacher cut out and they glued it on a holiday paper shape or foamie with a hole and ribbon to be hung. Then they decorate freely and write their name and date and gave this to their parents as gifts.

My 10yo once made traditional potpourri using cloves poked into an orange.

www.makingfriends.com has excellent crafts and http://www.dltk-holidays.com/xmas/crafts.html has great crafts to make including a wreath using handprints, a candy cane reindeer, and others.
