2nd C Section? advice please!

SO the dr told us that we are going to have to have another c section with our twins in less than a month! With DD we had to have an emergency one. I am freaking out. I didnt plan on having one with DD and it kinda freaked me out. Anyone out there have repeat ones that can tell me about it. Our dr said it wouldnt be that bad:confused3...

i have had 3, first to emergency and last one planned. i was more freaked out w/ my last one.... i was sobbing the night before! my dr. said it's very common that the planned sections freak people out more!

thanks again everyone for their words of support. DD was an emergency after 48 hours of labor and 4 hrs of pushing! her heart rate dropped and next thing I knew I was in the OR. I am just neverous this time because the while thing was aweful the 1st time and I was freaking out it was gonna happen again. We have a few weeks and then we will have 2 more babies! I guess that is all that matters!

Congrats to you!!!:hug: My first c-section wasn't really an emergency, but DD was "sunny side up" & the forceps couldn't turn her or get her out. Soooo, I had a quick bikini-line c-section after 12 hours of labor & 3 hours of pushing.

My DS was a scheduled c-section b/c I didn't want to have to recover from BOTH again, w/ an almost 3 yr old running around. It was WONDERFUL!!!! My new ob/gyn cleaned up my "crooked" scar where the old dr didn't cut a straight line. And it was just so much better since I only recovered from c-section & not both.

OH! And be glad it's scheduled....my very best friend had one twin girl normally, and then they dug & dug, and finally had to take the other twin by c-section. :scared1: Now that's a rough recovery! (Plus she already had 2 boys at home!) May God bless you & your family! :lovestruc

2 c-sections here too, first one was really bad the recovery for me took for ever, but with the second it was a very quick recovery was up and about much :goodvibes congrats and good luck!

I had 2 c-sections also & 1 V-birth.

The first c-section was an emergency one but I was some what prepaired since I was scedualed for a c-section the week prior but he flipped down/wasn't breech anymore so they cancelled it.

The 2nd c-section was planned. The midwife tried to get me to do a VBAC but I wanted a tubal & I wanted it to be planned since it was going to be my 3rd kid & I needed someone to watch my other 2.

I had no issues iwth either c-section & recovered quickly from both. With my last child, I had her on a Thursday & would of left the hospital on Friday if they let me but they wanted me to stay another day. So I left on Saturday.

I have had 2 c/s, the second one much easier, I was out of bed quicker and knew what to expect, I was more assertive and asked that they leave Foley cath in midnight and not pull till 6 am so that I could try and sleep a little longer...

2 C-sections here--both scheduled. The 2nd one was easier---because I knew what to expect and knew that the different pains weren't something gone wrong, but par for the course.

Here's the tip of the century that made a huge difference for me!:
With my 2nd, my OB wrapped what I can only describe as a giant ace-bandage around the middle section of my body immediately post-surgery. The nurse could still check the incision, but my uterus was slightly compressed by the bandage. It was so much more comfortable! I was able to sit up almost immediately and was walking (just around the room) within just a few hours (as soon as they removed the Foley).

By the next day I was walking around and even sitting in the chair pretty easily (yes...with some pain and certainly some tylenol, but not in agony at all). I also learned to take a light girdle (like Spanx) to wear once you are at the point of using/changing sanitary pads yourself. This made a huge difference too.
