2BR Suite Standard Views at VGF- can anyone share their experience?

We are super excited to have rented DVC points to stay in a 2 bedroom standard view suite at the Villas at the Grand Floridian at the beginning of May. I've looked at all the floor plans and room locations and such and am trying to decide whether trying to make any sort of room request is worth it.

Has anyone who's stayed in this type of room before ever had a "dud" view/room location that should be avoided if possible? (ie staring at a parking lot, noisy room beside an elevator, etc.) Are there any really good standard view rooms of this type that are worth trying to request? Or are all the views fine on the non-lake view sides of the VGF building? (And, ultimately, if I do decide to make a request, do you feel it is more worthwhile to ask to be high up or to ask to be facing the main Grand Floridian building?)

For the amount of money we're spending on this stay I'd like to try and pull all the stops to make everything as nice as possible, so any insight anyone could share would be much appreciated! :)

Is your reservation for a dedicated 2BR or a 2BR lockoff?

The reservation just says Room Type: 2 Bedroom Villa- Standard View, which I think means it's a dedicated 2BR (I could be wrong about that! Am I right in thinking it would say Lock-Off in there somewhere if that's what we booked? Or is there any other way to tell?)

If it is a lockoff, the reservation should indicate that it is.

The worst view would be the rooms on the second floor directly over the porte cochere. There's one 2BR lockoff and one dedicated 2BR in that location. Higher floors above the porte cochere have views of the wedding chapel.

All the views are great. I usually just ask for an upper floor.
Shh…let’s keep those higher floor villas as our secret 😂
As long as I can see the monorail I’m good 🙂
OP you might spend some time checking out the descriptions in the roomfinder tool on DVC news or looking at the roomfinder pix on touring plans.

We are VGF DVC members who LOVE the standard view! I would request a standard 2 bedroom on the upper floor with numbers ending with 25 or somewhere close. We had 1225 last time, and had a monorail, and fireworks view. It was lovely. A higher floor might be even better. It was such an amazing visit. You can also look up the phone number a week ahead to put in your requests, or fax in your requests. Enjoy!
