I just booked Cypress Pointe today for our trip after Thanksgiving! What a deal! It certainly pays to research and ask around. Thanks for the advice that I got here. Anyone else been at that time of the year? It's supposed to be the least busiest time.

About five years ago, the WDW crowds after Thanksgiving began to increase.
Some of the guidebooks haven't recognized that yet. These days, with the increasing popularity of MVMCP, I would term those crowds as moderate, and they swell signifcantly as you get closer to Christmas. It is no longer one of the slower times of the year. :cool1:

THanksgiving has become more popular - but I think that is more due to many schools changing their schedules and kids getting off the entire week instead of just 2 days.

Thanksgiving is a great time to visit!!!

the weather is generally great. the days are fairly warm, the nights are cool.

however Nov - like Dec - can change overnight - so bring everything....I mean it - one day you would need shorts, the next day - winter clothes - it can change than much in that short of time!

that is where condo really paid off - even if you find yourself wearing the same outfit for several days - it will be clean - washer and dryer are great!!!!

and I thought it would be fairly empty. I was surprised at the number of people in the parks that week. I think that some of that was because of the number of people that had to reschedule their vacations after the late summer hurricanes in August/September. Perhaps many of them shifted to that late November/early December time period.

There were rides and attractions that were walk ons but some had 45-60 minute waits at times. One time, my dh and ds#1 walked on Splash, the next time there was a 45 minute wait.

As for weather, the first day in the parks (12/5) was a bit cool in the morning so we wore jeans, short sleeves and light jackets. The jackets were off by lunch. Every day after that, except for Friday, was hot. We wore shorts every day (was in the 80s that week). Friday was rainy on and off, but still we managed to have a great day.

Spicey is right about the condo. I checked the weather report before leaving home, and even though I knew it was supposed to be warm, I brought too many cooler weather clothes. Ended up running a small load of laundry in our condo almost every evening so we had clean clothes every day. When you look at the pictures of my kids, you'll notice that they seem to be wearing the same outfits most of the week. They are, but they were definitely clean!

We'll be down Nov. 5-12 this year (NJ Teachers' Convention week). Hoping for great weather then too. Have a wonderful trip.

Where did you ge such a great rate?

Never mind, I just saw our original post! Sorry.

Booked through HK as well for our trip this summer (June 8-13). Our total with taxes for 5 nights was $400.70. I sure hope we will be happy there as this is first time we will be staying off-site

We are excited just to be able to go down to FL from a cold NYS! I imagine there are always crowds and we'll need to do some planning. We won't do the parks until the Monday after T-day and we'll get hopper passes so we can do a couple parks in a day.

Thanks for the advice on clothing! Sounds like what it's like in upstate NY!!! :rotfl:

One of the reasons I liked Cypress Pointe was that they also have basketball courts. We figured that on the cooler days when we didn't want to swim at least there would be some other kind of recreation that they like.

So much to plan for! :Pinkbounc
