I have a 2 bedrrom booked in SSR with another family, we are purchasing the dining plan. Do you think we should keep the 2 bedroom or get 2 studios?

how friendly are you to the other family?

if you are great friends - then sharing a 2-bedroom can be just fine.

I like my privacy more than extra room - so I would go with the studios.... (besides it is cheaper point wise)

it completely depends upon you and them - some people think they have the right to wake you up.....(that always get me mad for the entirely day).

just depends upon you and how much you know these people.

I vote for the two bedroom It's always nice to have the kitchen, even if you don't use it much, and the laundry right in the room. The common area is also great to have. Just my take! :wave2:

I like the common area of the living room. Having the studios near each other is only a request. How would you feel if the rooms are in adjacent buildings, or even different floors of the same?

i'm thinking the the 2 studios on this trip. i will miss the washer. we have only used the kitchen when we were there during a hurricane. any suggestions on a resort i've been to okw and ssr.

Welcome to the DIS, mellormousee!
Just one more thing to take into consideration:
The dining plan is LOTS of food. If you think it might be too much, 2 studios would allow you to only pay for the dining plan for 1 room. You then could share credits, if you chose. That would allow you to eat at non-Disney places a couple of times also, if you wished.
This may be of no interest at all to you, but just thought I would mention it.

thats something to consider. i usually don't plan tis far ahead but the family going with us have never been to Disney. they want to do and see as much as possible. all our table service meals have been planned, only one not covered is Victoria & Alberts.

I'd get a 1BR and a studio, personally. More points but might make the trip more enjoyable! But that's just me....YMMV. :)

We shared a two-bedroom lockoff with friends last month and I don't regret it one bit. But we're very close to them. We got the lockoff so they could have their own entrance to use if they wanted, and their own phone line. I like to use the wake up call service and that way our wake up call wouldn't ring on their line.

We all used the in-room laundry facilities, and they really appreciated having the kitchen (which was a surprise because they said they wouldn't do much cooking, but they used the kitchen more than we did).

But as spiceycat said, it really depends on how close you are with them. If you get a lockoff, you can always keep the connecting door locked during the night if you need your privacy. But we didn't get into each other's way at all. And they like having the living room area for socializing.

I'm just wondering what a two-bedroom-lock-off is? Is that a one-bedroom plus a studio to make a two-bedroom?

We've only stayed in a studio and not ever traveled with another family, so I'm of no help regarding the OP's original question.

We traveled with my DW sis and hub and thats where the common room was so nice playing cards eating togather making plans etc. :cool1:

How many total in the group or maybe I should say each family. That might make a difference. I prefer OKW for everything except the studio units when there are just two of us because I like the sofa in the studios at the other DVC resorts. Are you treating these people to a room or are you sharing expenses? Since you have the meal plan and don't plan on using the kitchen the two studios might do it. I would pick SSR although OKW is really my favorite if you do the studios and OKW if you do the 2 BR. As with everything DVC everyone has different ideas and suggestions as to what is best- ultimately only you and the other family can decide what is best for this trip.

That's correct. The other two-bedroom option is a dedicated two-bedroom. It only has one entrance door, and the second bedroom does not have the kitchenette.

Since my husband and I are decaf coffee drinkers and the other family likes their caffeine, we felt the lock-off was a better option since we would have our own coffee makers. And it was nice for the other folks to make their coffee before showering and making their morning appearance.

I NEVER thought of this! So if I get a 2 bedroom lock-off, we can have seperate wake up calls for each of our rooms?
