Got back on a late Eurotunnel crossing this morning after a few days in one of our happy places with my boyfriends family (7 of us in total)! Had a good time, ruined a bit by illness and weather. I'll start with the highs though...
Highs:
- Short queues for the most part, especially with is being half term. There were strange inconsistencies, with Tower of Terror getting 10 minute queues mostly but suddenly shooting up to over half an hour and dropping again in a short space of time. Crush was consistently 45+ of course but rides like Parachute Drop and Peter Pan were always over half an hour, which is a shame as my DBF's daughter loves them!
- We took the car for the first time as we normally get the Eurostar and parking, and not waiting for busses, was convenient. We all have APs so parking was free too
- Quick and easy swapping my boyfriend's family's temp passes for APs at the office, whereas we'd seen huge queues last November.
- Dreams was awesome as ever, love the new parts as I'm a huge Lion King fan!
- Characters with less scrum-like queues. Saw Gov. Ratcliffe, Pluto and Eeyore by Cowboy Cookout with two other families around, probably because BTM was closed, there was less foot traffic around that area. Saw Captain Jack and Peter Pan quite easily too. The Studios had huuge crowds for the characters at the front of the park though, like Aladdin and Mulan.
- Parades were great! We had the 2 year old in princess dresses and her Buzz Lightyear jacket, and she absolutely loves waving, and characters, so she was getting lots of kisses and waves
Snow White and the Evil Queen interacted win her a lot during the Studios parade, which she loved.
- Cast Members were all fab, especially on ToT!
- We stayed at the Citea in Magny Le Hongre, which was super cheap for a 3 bed apartment for three nights. It was very basic but we thought we'd hardly be in it...
Lows:
- Illness! Almost ruined the trip. My DBF's niece was ill over the weekend before we went and it then spread to his parents Tuesday and Wednesday which meant we didn't get a full day in the parks together. And he's currently ill with it now, so I'm just waiting to get it now
Did put a bit of a dampener on everything as we had late starts in the park whilst trying to get everyone sorted.
- Weather. Horrific weather on Tuesday and awful for most of Thursday meant we were soaked for most of the trip, and even though it was brighter on Wednesday it was still a bit chilly.
- BTM being closed did make me very sad as its our favourite!
- Queues (sort of)... Only because we had a 2 year old and 7 year old with us and it was their rides that were attracting long queues, and we couldn't go on the big rides with short queues over and over as we had the kids - we didn't want to be selfish!
- Food. I don't think I'll ever quite grasp the cost of food in the parks. I'm more of a WDW girl so am used to the dining plan, or at least American prices which are easier to swallow. It pains me to spend so much money on food!
Think I've covered everything! May half term definitely seems like the best holiday to go though
